| | | The 8GB YP-P2 MP3 is the first Samsung MP3 widescreen (16x9) video player with an optimized touchscreen user interface. It will also offer Bluetooth capability. The P2 comes ready to pair with stereo Bluetooth 2.0 headphones and speaker systems to provide high quality wireless listening.
video playback - The P2 plays MPEG4 and WMV9 video files in 16:9 DVD friendly format. Samsung Multimedia Software included with the P2 transcodes the video on the computer before transferring to the P2, so videos on the P2 play at the optimal frame size/rate with minimal effort from the user. P2 will also playback at up to 30 frames per second, twice the category average!
bluetooth 2.0 - Bluetooth is a wireless standard which will enable the P2 to pair with other Bluetooth 2.0 devices. The range of the Bluetooth connection is 32.8 feet. P2 comes ready to pair with stereo Bluetooth 2.0 headphones and speaker systems to provide high quality wireless listening.
touchscreen navigation - The touchscreen interface named EmoTrue goes beyond just tapping the screen. Users can swipe a finger across the screen for functions like fast forward or next picture.
plays MP3 , WMA and OGG files - MP3 files are the most common music format available today. WMA uses a high quality compression technology so users can have smaller files that sound in near CD quality. Works with Rhapsody, Napster, and Yahoo! so users can download up to 4 million songs and take them on the P2 (separate subscription is required).
FM tuner/recorder with presets - The built-in FM Tuner will scan the entire FM range in less than 60 seconds and automatically place the available FM stations into presets. To eliminate stations with marginal reception, users can adjust the sensitivity to only preset stations with strong reception.
photo text viewer - You can view your photos and text files on the P2. Zoom, rotate, customize text size, color and font makes these great features even more powerful.

5 of 5 Good Mp3 player for price Monday, May 05, 2008 A Customer from Naperville, IL
After reading reviews about mp3 players on multiple sites, I decided on the P2. On a few sites audio quality is ranked at #1 or #2 compared to other mp3 players. Video has good resolution and looks great, bad thing is it takes quite a long time to encode full dvd movies to a format it needs. Bluetooth works great allowing me to make/take calls and dial from the mp3 player. Firmware support is great, there has been 3 releases so far each with new features, 4th release is expected next month. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent product Sunday, April 13, 2008 A Customer from VA
I did a LOT of research about this product and other mp3 players in the same price range...here are the things I found along with my own use for two weeks about this product:-
-The most important is the sound quality. It is REALLY good. I compared it with an ipod of my roommates', I believe the Samsung P2 was better. Although, I might be biased since I own the P2, but they are really close. What sets it aside is the DNSE, which allows you to listen to music the way you want( bass heavy etc). The only problem I found was when I put the volume at "2" along with a slow song there is a slight background noise that you can hear... but since I never listen to music at that low a volume its not a problem for me.
-The user interface is spectacular, no doubt.I won't compare it with ipod touch, since, it was out of my price range but they are close competitors. I won't argue with people who say that ipod touch is better, because I had very little experience with an ipod touch.
-The video quality is spectacular. NO ONE can deny that fact. No problems with the video..you can watch whole movies in this.
Overall, this is a spectacular product. Though I did run in a problem. It hangs in a certain place repeatedly. I talked to samsung, they were really helpful. Im returning the P2 for repairs, they paid for the shipping, which I liked. Its just a software malfunction, I believe...I'll update my review once I get it back. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Very good player but could have great.... Monday, April 07, 2008 Kakuu from Parsippany, NJ
I bought this player recently and satisfied with this player. But it could have been a great player had Samsung worked on a few of it's features. I'm not at all APPLE fan as i value more for the quality of sound than number of music/media players files a player can hold. This player is far better than Apple Ipod (Touch).
Pros:
1. Sound qulity is very good with DNSe that allows you use preset equalizer or you can even customize it.
2. You can receive calls from you phone
3. Touch screen is quite responsive.
and lot of other features.....
Cons
1. Headphones are slighly less comfortable. Wish Samsung had borrowed the idea of headphones from Sony (I have used Walkman® Video MP3 Player - they are the best but their products are expensive and does not have as many features as available from others).
2. Volume Control is very difficult to get/operate on touch screen but good thing they have provided buttons on the side of the player as well. I gave up using touch screen to control volume.
3. Battery life is little low. Samsung could have worked on it.
4. If you try to tranfer music or any other files when battery of the player is fully charged. You get a "Battery completely charged ... something like this" after the transfer of every file which will cause unnecessary delay to complete the trasfer.
WISH Samsung had really worked on touch screen volume control and headphone design.
I would have rated this product 5 if it did not have above shortcomings so rating it 4. Was this review helpful?
