 Editor's Note
Crime fighting has never been so hazardous--or funny. Chopsocky action star Jackie Chan reteams with motormouth Chris Tucker in this RUSH HOUR sequel as the mismatched cop duo investigate several bombings in Hong Kong attributed to Chinese gang leader Ricky Tan (John Lone) and assassin Zhang Ziyi, whose beautiful, balletic kick packs a head-ringing wallop. A fish out of water in exotic Hong Kong, Tucker talks his way into reams of trouble, saved time and again by Chan's frantic fighting. Though the two detectives are taken off the bombing case, unpaid debts between Chan and the criminals lead the detectives back to the U.S. and into the middle of an international counterfeiting racket that only Chan and Tucker can expose. Fans of the first RUSH HOUR can't miss this hilarious sequel, and buddy-cop movie aficionados will recognize the dazzling zingers slammed back and forth between Chan and Tucker as the true sign of a winning film.

5 of 5 Great Movie Wednesday, March 19, 2003 Mike from AZ
Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker are great in "Rush Hour 2." It is one of the best movies I've ever seen. Tucker is hilarious and Chan is funny as well. If you're looking for an entertaining action packed comedy, "Rush Hour 2" is perfect for you! Was this review helpful?

***The Movie*** This is your typical cop buddy movie. Last time Jackie was the fish out of water, this time it's Chris. Nothing really new in this sequel, but it's still fun & entertaining & still keeps the chemistry in the first movie. Now there's usually only 2 opinions on Chris Tucker, you like him, you hate him. If you hate him, you'll only hate him more, don't watch this movie. But if you like him, he's the same as always. Jackie, well, he's the same as in the first film also, English is just as bad, but he's funny that way. I've seen most all of Jackie's Hong Kong movies, and I must say in his American movies the action is really toned down & less creative. There weren't many action scenes or tricks he did that I found genuinely cool. He does far more cool stuff in his HK movies. In the extras I think it was the director who says he had to curtail a lot of Jackie's choreographed fight scenes because American audiences don't like 10 minutes of non-stop action, that they can't handle it. Please gimme a break! Zhang Zi Yi from Crouching Tiger is a great addition in the cast. She doesn't really do much but act menacing, but she's so cute. Rosalyn Sanchez too.
***The Video*** The video quality is pretty darn good. The opening credits were a bit grainy, shot from a helicopter, but maybe it's because it was stock film footage or something. The rest of the movie is very nice. Not outstanding, but good enough. There's plenty of vivid colors throughout the movie & as whole there isn't much to complain about. Edge enhancement is not very evident. Blacks are black and picture level is consistent.
***The Audio*** Here we get a DTS mix and it's excellent. The DTS mix itself is just louder to start with, I had to turn the volume down from what I usually have it at. I don't recall any stunning use of deep bass or spectacular surround effects. But the audio is just very crisp & clear, very dynamic.
***The Extras*** This is an Infinifilm DVD, which when you cut thru all the marketing language means that if you turn on the Infinifilm option, little prompts will come up throughout the movie asking you if you'd like to view a behind the scenes extra feature of some sort that is pertinent to the part you're watching in the movie. Then after you finish watching the extra, you are dropped back into the movie where you left off. It's nothing revolutionary, but it is a very smart way of letting you view the extras & the movie in a manner that integrates them in a much more meaningful way than if you just jumped in the extras menu & started watching whatever. There are a lot of extras on this DVD, and most of them are quite interesting. There are extra bloopers that aren't in the end credits, and there's extra parts with the gay fashion guy in Vegas that are hilarious. Was this review helpful?
