Reunite with Jim Rockford, the quintessential antihero detective, in all 22 Season Three episodes of the action-packed, five-time Emmy Award-winning mystery series The Rockford Files! In the season that won him an Emmy, James Garner stars as the wisecracking ex-con-turned-private-eye whose approach to crime is cooler than his sleek Pontiac Firebird and more casual than his mobile home in Malibu. Filled with wry humor, chilling suspense and engaging mysteries, this five-disc collection includes such celebrated guest stars as Veronica Hamel, Ron Rifkin, Burt Young and more. It's an open-and-shut case: This is classic Rockford entertainment you just can't afford to miss!

"...in Jim Rockford, [Garner] found his perfect niche... "  Gary W. Tooze, DVD Beaver
"...one of those classic 70's cop-shows...a lot of amusing humour in this action/drama series."  Vince D'Amato, Hollywood North Report

Editor's Note

This classic detective series successfully marries comedy with drama to create an Emmy-winning formula. The ever-charming James Garner plays the title character, Jim Rockford. Formerly imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit, Rockford now makes a (meager) living as a private eye living in Malibu--in a mobile home. With an irreverent wit and frequent beatings that separate him from other detective characters of the day, Rockford remains one of TV's most memorable men. This release includes all 22 episodes of the third season, in which Garner won an Emmy. Guest stars include Veronica Hamel, Ron Rifkin, and Burt Young.

Professional Reviews
DVD Verdict 9 of 10
The 1970's were the undisputed golden age of small screen sleuthing, an era that saw the primetime airwaves teeming with quirky, one name private investigators, loose cannon homicide detectives and fey insurance agents. Between Colombo, Quincy, McCloud, Banacek, Kojak, McMillan, Cannon and Baretta, there were barely enough unsolved mysteries to go around, but that didn't stop falsely accused ex-con Jim Rockford from becoming one of the most fondly remembered TV dicks of the decade...What really set Rockford apart from the other small screen crime fighters was a consistently fine performance from Garner, coupled with an emphasis on action and comedy. - Paul Corupe

4 of 5 Great season from a great show Thursday, March 15, 2007
A Viewer from Seattle, WA
Season 3 has a couple of favorite episodes and guest stars. It's a great shows. The weakest episode is the Gandy & Gabby spin-off set-up. Fortunately, it was not made into it's own series. The DVD does not have any extras, which is a disappointment.
