| | Professional Reviews | Sight and Sound "[I]t is surprisingly successful, the delayed-gratification plotting steadily parceling out crucial information without letting the pace flag." 08/01/2006 p.98Ultimate DVD 5 stars out of 5 -- "With an excellent cast and fantastic scripting, which never slackens its pace and features twists and turns that will keep you glued to the screen..." 08/01/2006 p.79 If Magazine DVD Review 8 of 10 The ending was very interesting and it looks like it sets up some serious confrontations next episode with the bad Secret Service agent and could lead to some more revelations about his innocence or knowing this show everyone will ignore that he is being hunted and will be back to square one. A more interesting question is now that the show has been renewed for another season, will a prison break take place this season or will they hold it off until the following season? Variety.com 7 of 10 Emboldened by the durability of "24," Fox trots out two serials this fall that, in success, will be difficult to extend into a second season. "Prison Break" is the more intriguing of these sha-la-la-live-for-today dramas (the other being "The OC"-like "Reunion"), thanks principally to a strong cast led by Wentworth Miller, who purposely gets tossed into prison hoping to spring his death-row brother. Still, emulating "24"'s delicate balancing act is full of potential tripwires, and the surplus of moving parts in the two-hour premiere doesn't make entirely clear how "Break" will escape triggering them. - Brian Lowry

When Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) is falsely accused of murder and sent to prison on death row, his brother, Michael (Wentworth Miller), resolves on doing anything to ensure his release. Armed with a blueprint of Fox River, hidden within an intricate tattoo that covers his body, Michael intentionally gets himself incarcerated in the same facility in order to set his escape plan - which also happens to involve some of the prison's most notorious inmates - in motion.
Meanwhile, Lincoln's former flame Veronica Donovan (Robin Tunney), sets to work on his appeal case, which yields shocking results on the truth behind his incarceration.
With a stellar cast and fantastic production values, this is one series not to be missed. If you're sceptical about the show's plot, the emotional impact of the relationship between the brothers combined with the suspense of the escape are an unbeatable combination and will have you hooked in no time.
If you missed it first time round or quite rightly want to revisit the non-stop action of Season One, which culminates in a breathtaking finale, now is the time to get it on DVD! Complete with a wealth of extra features, this is one TV boxset definitely worth owning! Was this review helpful?
