Planar PL1910M 19" LCD Display, 700:1, DVI, Speakers, Refurbished

I've had this monitor for about a year and it has a great picture through the DVI interface. I have not tried the VGA cable. It is bright and crisp with no dead pixels. For comparison to a major brand, I have a high quality ViewSonic LCD screen with three dead pixels. As with most built-in speakers, these speakers are small, somewhat tinny and have no bass, but I have a TV tuner card in the computer and we listen to the TV through the speakers without issue. My kids definitely don't notice the difference. I like the placement of the volume dial under the monitor versus buttons on the front. The dial gives better feedback and is faster to turn it down if their Dora or Thomas games go into song. Overall I would rate the built-in speakers and volume controls the best I've seen on an LCD so far.

I bought this monitor and connected to the DVI outlet on my video card. There was always a message saying to check the video cable when I it turned on. I replaced the video card, the cable and the problem was still there. After 6 weeks it simply stopped working on the DVI outlet but the regular VGA worked fine. I called Planar and they sent me a replacement. I noticed that the replacement was a refurbished unit and an older model than the one I got here on Buy.com and after 3 weeks, it simply stopped working. So there I was again calling them and requesting a replacement. It is supposed to arrive friday, but this is very frustrating. I am glad I didn't get rid of my old big monitor, or I wouldn't have the chance to see that the problem was again with the monitor. I will post again when I get the new monitor and hope it will work, but I don't know if I want to buy this brand again The 3 year warranty is good and their replacement warranty also is very good.

I bought this monitor when I bought my new G5 for work. Now I am so pleased with it, I want one for home too. Of course three years later the price, even without rebate, is about half what it was back then. It was great at 700 dollars, now it is even better at 365! If I had money to blow, I might get a couple. Buy one with confidence, as this LCD is the bomb! By the way, yeah, the speakers are a little bit tinny, but they work fine for me, and audiophiles use big speakers anyway. The only control I ever use on the monitor is the on/off switch, and with such a beautiful picture, I don't even use that much. Hope this helps you out!

Bought my first Planar LCD. Had trouble with the first one-Planar sent me a new one within a couple of days. Purchased a DVI cable instead of analog. The picture quality is the best I have ever seen. Had another 15" analog LCD and this one does not compare. If you buy this monitor (I highly recommend it), upgrade your system (video card) to digital. You will be glad you did. Planar warranty and tech support is in the top 5 best of all the companies I've dealt with.

This is by far the best LCD I've ever own.Purchased 2 for my PC with Nvidia Quadro FX 3000 with dual DVI video card.Setup is very easy,even with analog video input,the LCD auto adjust.And no dead pixel found.I highly recommend this LCD to anyone wanting to switch from CRT monitor.

Excellent monitor, love the built in speakers! Reduces desktop clutter and adds attractive display unit to desk. Superb value. No big deal that the monitor can't twist like a pretzel.

This monitor's warranty is second to none along with it's outstanding picture quality. I had to turn the brightness down after setup as it was to bright out of the box. NO dead pixels either.

Bought one as a gift for my wife. She loves it!! My only regret now is that I didn't buy one for myself while Planar was still offering the $70 rebate!! Great color, clear picture. Have to agree with other reports that the speakers are so-so. Might be ok for an office environment, but you would want a better speaker system for at home. Hooked it up, adjusted the horizontal and vertical and haven't touched it since.

I spent forever searching for monitors and was about to order the fancy LG that can rotate to 'portrait' view when I read a review about how buggy the software that allows it to accomplish this feat was. Buy.com had this monitor on their front page with a rebate available and, though I had no experience with Planar, I decided, after research, to give it a try. I'm not diappointed. Everything looks great and works well; truly just plug & play. If they haven't changed the ad description to indicate the cables included, the cables I found in the box were an audio cable, power cable, VGA cable, AND a DVI cable (many monitors just ship with the VGA cable). I don't think you will be disappointed.

I recently picked up 20 Planar PL1910M's for my workplace. They've been in use for four months and all are performing perfectly. The image is clear and sharp with superb contrast and they present a much more professional appearance than 19" CRT monitors. My only quibbles are: 1) The smallish speakers are tinny-sounding, similar to those found on most notebook computers, but they're adequate for typical sound necessary in a business environment, and... 2) The controls, while elegant in their simplicity, are not clearly marked. Fortunately, they're rarely needed since the monitor automatically adjusts to common video settings. The value of the PL1910M is quite high, especially considering the included three-year rapid replacement warranty. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this purchase and would buy more of the same model if there was a need.

This LCD has one of the clearest pictures I have ever seen. Images look great on the screen right out of the box and there were no adjustments necessary. The form factor is very small and it looks great on my desk. I hooked it up to an ergotron mount with the VESA brackets on the back and the speakers sound pretty good as well - no need for any external speakers causing clutter.
