5 of 5 Best value on market Friday, February 13, 2009 KB from VA
I've gotten two of these over the last year. On my first one, during a burglary, the offenders were able to remove my 46" from it despite the security features, but had to partially pry the mount and bend it in order to do so. I'm sure you can defeat any security measure with the proper amount of time, though. I've now gotten another, and I'm just as satisfied as with the first.. comparatively cheap, easy-to-install, highly compatible, the adjectives don't end. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 A Great (Basic) TV Mount Wednesday, December 31, 2008 Gary from vancouver, wa
Well packaged, well designed, easy to install.
A more "deluxe" model would have security / locking hardware and tilt...but those were features I did not need. Was this review helpful?

This wallmount worked out perfect for me. You can find info for this mount on the Peerless website. The mount comes with many different fasteners, and they have a chart on the website which shows which fasteners to use with what TV, as well as a "Mount finder" which can show you if this mount is compatible with your TV. My TV came up on the compatibility chart but I couldn't find my TV on the fastener chart (very new model TV). I called Peerless, and they gave me the info in seconds. Good customer service. So, using the info they gave me along with the instructions included in the box, I had the mount and the TV up on the wall in less than 30 minutes. I have a plaster wall with studs behind it. It seems rather sturdy, and I was able to offset the TV 4 inches from the middle as stated in the instructions with no issues. The only thing which could be better is if there was an easier way to attach cables to the TV without taking it off the wall. Attach all your cables before you put the TV up. As far as Buy.com goes, I have ordered many products from them. They alwasy ship quickly, email the tracking#, and have good prices on many items. No complaints Was this review helpful?

I was very pleased from start to finish on purchasing this product from Buy.com. The products looks and works great. Thank you. I'll be back to purchase a few more LCD's very soon. Keep up the great work and keep your prices better than Best Buy, Circuit City Etc. It has been a pleasure. Was this review helpful?

OVERIVEW
This is an OK value, and if you want a fairly shallow mounting system on the cheap, this is the way to go. In ideal conditions you can get your TV 1 1/2" from drywall. The locking system is totally lame though. And if conditions aren’t ideal, you will have to make sacrifices to use this mount due to it's design.
THE GOOD
- Inexpensive
- It comes with two different depth brackets: shallow and very shallow. ;-) Seriously though, one is 1/2" deeper than the other resulting a 2" mounting depth vs. 1 ½”. Most displays can’t be mounted any closer than that anyway. Especially plasmas which typically have far more vents due to running quite a bit hotter.
THE BAD
- Metal is a great deal thinner than competition
- Non-standard washers means I can't re-use the hardware I didn't need elsewhere
- lag bolts are a bit teensy given the application, I used my own larger ones. These are the smallest lag’s I’ve seen used in a mount for 40” to 60” displays.
- no cross-bracing which means the mount MUST be installed flush against wall, you can't use nylon spacers like some (well, most!) competitors mounts. The mount will flex excessively if you try. The manual is clear about avoiding this1
- the “locking” set screws are the most BRAINDEAD setup I've ever seen!
HOW SHALLOW?
As long as your TV has fairly recessed HDMI jack, you will probably be able to use the shallow brackets and your TV will only sit1 1 1/2" off the wall. The same goes for if you have a coax connection; if you use short crimp-on connectors you can probably use the thin brackets. If you have long compression fittings, you probably won't have enough room unless the I/O connections are deeply recessed into the display…especially with inflexible RG-6U cable.
NO CROSS SUPPORTS
There is no cross bracing or plate. This does make vertical placement easier if you have a small wall box (or just cables poking out of drywall), but it also makes the whole mount *FAR* less rigid. As such, the only valid installation is directly mounted to the wall flush, and you can't use spacers behind the mount. Why would you want to do this you may ask?
Well, many recessed boxes like the Leviton unit come with a nice 1/4" thick trim plate. These boxes are quite large, and there is a good chance, especially when mounting a very large TV, that the top or bottom of your mount may need to span the box opening in order to set the TV at optimum height. Well, if you do this, then you can't use the trim plate, as it will interfere with the flush mounting. NEARLY EVERY SINGLE MOUNT I've used (a dozen or so) comes with 1/4" and/or 3/8" nylon spacers to deal with *exactly* this issue. This mount does NOT. So, I was going to use some spacers I had left over from a previous installation. Genius, right? WRONG! The entire mount displaces significantly under the weight of my 52" LCD even though it is only approx 1/2 of the max allowed weight. I was NOT comfortable, and reattached the mount directly flush to the wall, as specified by instructions.
The reason spacers aren't provided is the metal is too thin, and the lack of cross bracing, does not allow the mount to "float" on the wall above spacers. It simply can't do it. It was engineered with the mindset that the drywall would actually provide the rigidity to the solution and prevent it from bending. Spacers are NOT provided, and as you can read in the instructions, NOT supported. The instructions are VERY CLEAR on stating that the mount MUST be fastened FLUSH to the wall directly.
As such, I was not able to use the trim plate on my Leviton box. Now, granted nobody can really see it’s not there. But I know!
LOCKING SYSTEM
Since most users would want to mount flush to the wall anyway, the above issue isn't huge. However, what is a larger problem is the locking Allen screws used to prevent the panel to be lifted off the mount.
These locking Allen screws, one on each end both about ¼ in from the edges, are recessed very deep from the bottom of your display (of course, how deep depends on how large your display is). So, you need to use a long (approx 18”) Allen key that is provided so that once your display is mounted flat, you can reach behind it, and turn the Allen screw until it engages into the locking hole and won't allow the unit to be tipped up, and thus can't be lifted off of the brackets. Of course, this is VERY GOOD if you have young ones around! A locking system like this is a must IMO though. However, there are two problems with this implementation, both are potentially huge issues.
1) As I mentioned, there are two screws. The first one isn't bad, because you can pry up the TV a bit and get the Allen key into it. But, once it is in, the TV will NO LONGER LIFT UP, it’s locked flat (unless you pry hard ad bend it temporarily…this shows how flexible the mount is). So how do you get it into the second screw? Well, good luck. If you have a small panel, sure, it's not too bad. Or, if you use the ½” deeper mount, it’s not bad.. But with a 58"+ panel you are trying to thread an 18" long Allen key into a tiny hole that you can't really see, and you only have 1 1/2" to work with…it’s NOT easy. But, it can be done…unless…
2) even worse, is the fact that this is a *security* Allen screw and key, meaning the screw has a bump in it and the Allen key a hole in it for the bump to fit into. You can NOT use a normal Allen key. Which I guess is a good thing....but what is the huge Allen key they provided is TOO long?!? What if you are mounting a smaller (say 40” display) directly over a fireplace, and the key hits the mantle and you can't get it to fit into the screw because there is simply not enough clearance? You can't just cut it down, since it will cut off the security hole, and you will be left with a normal Allen key that won't fit.
We ran into this problem because I have 34" high wainscoting with a nearly 2" deep top plate running around perimeter of living room. The bottom of the TV only sits about 4” above this plate at ideal location. However, with this ideal TV mounting height, the Allen key was a full 3" too long and due the wainscoting we couldn't possibly get the key into the screws with either the shallow *or* deep brackets. It’s just not possible due to the angle necessary.
The core problem (other than this being a brain-dead locking mechanism for sure) was that the key was a fixed length, and couldn't be cut down to fit as needed. They simply should NOT have used security Allen screws. There is no good reason. The panel already has a separate Kensington lock loop. It isn't like people are walking around with 18" long Allen keys!?! It's already a highly specialized tool. By making it a security Allen screw it meant that the super-long key now couldn’t be cut down to fit any tight works space.
So in my case, in order to lock the panel to the wall, I had to get out my torch and re-bend the Allen key so that it was now a bit shorter. Normally I would have just hacksawed it, but as mentioned, it would have ruined it for this purpose due to the security hex screws.
Now, don’t get me started as to what I’ll do 3 years from now when I go to take this down and can’t find that customized 15” long Allen key. Good design folks! NOT!!!
CONCLUSION
I'm a pretty handy guy, and have the tools and time to do what was needed to overcome these problems. Most people won't. So while I do think this is a good value, it really is only good when:
1) you won't have ANY obstructions within a solid 6" to 12" (depending on how tall your display is) below the bottom of your display so you won't hit anything with very long Allen key
2) you either know that your existing box/cables are perfectly where they should be for the center of the display (height wise), OR Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Easy to install Tuesday, March 11, 2008 A Customer from Belpre, Ohio
Bought this mount to install a 42" Hitachi plasma in the bedroom. It was very easy to install and came with hardware for just about any TV. It was very sturdy and came with extra brackets in case you had a TV with a deeper back on it. The mounts at our area CC was $150 to $200, so this was a steal. I am very pleased. 5 of 5 Great Mount Wednesday, March 05, 2008 BD from Hickory, NC
This mount worked great for my Phillips 47" LCD TV. Comes with 2 different depth mounting brackets, I used the low profile as my wife is an interior designer and was worried about seeing the mount from the side. She was pleased with the way it looks. Make sure an do you connections before you hang the TV as the other reviews state. No complaints and would highly recommend this product and seller Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Easy and quick. Friday, February 22, 2008 Sam from Trumbull, Ct
I purchased two of these mounts after reading the reviews. The reviews were correct and made mounting two different lcd tvs quick and easy. Every option is covered with labeled screws for any possible tv. Also included are two different piceces depending how close you want to keep the tv to the wall. If you have help the thinner mount it is easy to install and looks fantastic for a close to the wall look. Even with concealing the wires the 1st tv took less than 2 hrs and the second tv took only 45 minutes because it was an inside wall. Would recommend it highly. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Exactly what my 50-inch Plasma needed Monday, February 04, 2008 A Customer from Keller, Texas
Very easy to mount to the wall. I have a Hewlett Packard PL5072N and am glad I saved the money by not purchasing a tilting mount. As my tv is mounted on the wall, the bottom of the screen is eye level when sitting, which is pefect for the distance we are viewing from. Also, this tv is flush against the wall, I had no issues with it tilting back.
I would definately recommend this item and seller.

5 of 5 Basic, sturdy mount Tuesday, January 22, 2008 A Buy.com customer from Ocala, FL
I mounted a Sharp 46" lcd. Lots of flexibility with all the mounting holes. An excellent, but wasteful collection of hardware. I ended up throwing out the thinner tv mounts an 90% of the bolts & spacers. The hanging brackets make it a snap for even one person to hang even a heavy panel. It does mount very close to the wall (tis is what I was looking for) so make all your connections first. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Perfect Tuesday, January 01, 2008 Bob from charlotte, nc
I ordered this and mounted a 50 inch Vizio Plaza TV. It came in about 3 days. It had two kinds of brackets. One set kept the TV off of the wall about an inch more that the other. I used the bigger set to allow easy access to hook up more cables in the future. This is a very simple mount. Comes with a lot of hardware and well worth the money. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Does the job for a fraction of the cost Sunday, December 23, 2007 A Customer from Niskayuna, New York
Received the unit about 3 days after i ordered and it went together flawlessly. I was looking for the simplest (i.e. cheapest) wall mount i could find and just wanted to keep it as close to the wall as possible. It comes with a wide assortment of hardware that should work with almost any TV and it also has 2 styles of brackets. One is about 1/2" deeper than the other. I installed the narrower unit as i wanted it to be as close to the wall as possible. One mistake i made was that not having a swivel or pivot, it was a PIA to route all the cables through a blank wall plate with a hole drilled out that i mounted behind the TV so i could conceal all the cables from the player units below. Fortunately, you can swing the bottom of the set out a few inches before you clamp it down to get access to all the hookups. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Nice wall mount. Monday, December 10, 2007 Jeff W from California
Nice wall mount great price. Came with a nice chart of tons of tvs and a whole bunch of mounting screws for all types of sets. I mounted a 42" maxent plasma and ended up using the mounting screws that were on the back of the set already. Mounting was very straight forwared. Warning thought... no tilting provided with this model. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Easiest LCD Mount on Market and Best Value Thursday, November 29, 2007 Roger from Westerville, Ohio
I have installed 3 Peerless Flat Screen LCD Mounts in my house and I am very satisified. Simply connect 2 brackets to the back of the TV, attach the mounting bracket to the wall, lift the TV into place and the brackets connect to each other quickly. If you know how to operate a drill and screwdriver, anyone can mount a TV on the wall with this mount. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Pretty good. Tuesday, September 25, 2007 A Customer from Issaquah, WA
I used this to hang a 50 inch Pioneer Plasma. The TV looks great and it couldn't have been easier. The odd thing is that the TV sticks out ever so slight at the bottom. So it is not straight up and down against the way. My installer was stumped and it didn't appear to be the install job. Otherwise, the product is great! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Price and Great Product Tuesday, September 25, 2007 Sonu from Queens, NY
I have a 46" Samsung LCD TV. This mount was perfect for the TV. There is very little gap between the wall and the TV which is a good because it seems that it is flush against the wall. The gap is about 3"-4".
The only problem with the gap is when you have to go to the back of the TV for connections. There is a connection on the side of the TV, but since I wanted to hide the wires I connected to the back. Was this review helpful?

I purchased this item from Buy.com after searching in store and online for weeks. I am very particular about items like this since it is helping to display a very expensie piece of equipment. I must say that I am more than pleased. It comes with all the hardward you should ever need and it could not be easier to install. Awesome product if you are looking for a fixed, low profile mount. I typically do not spend my time writing reviews for products, but for this one, I felt I would share my positive thoughts. You will not find a mount of this quality for this price anywhere...PERIOD!! Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Better than the Expensive one from Home Improvemen Sunday, June 17, 2007 Larry from Blue Bell, PA
When I originally bought my 42" TV, I went out to the big box home improvement store and paid over $100 for a wall mount. Stupid thing wouldn't allow me to center the TV on the wall due to the placement of its mounting holes. Saw this and the prior reviews on line, bought it for less than half the other's price, easy to install and my TV is now centered. Very happy customer. Returned old wall mount to big box store.
