4 of 5 Quick and easy to use out of the box Sunday, March 08, 2009 A Customer from Irving, TX
I'd been frustrated at all efforts to get my two monitors (LCD panels) calibrated anywhere near each OTHER, let alone to any true color correction. A peer recommended the Huey Pro, I was somewhat skeptical having worked with much more expensive and elaborate calibrators before. The Huey Pro installed very quickly, and with the USB connection and wizard-based basic setup I was done in less than ten minutes. My displays match, and the color matches my prints now. Well worth the money! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good, but not perfect Wednesday, September 24, 2008 Reed from Colorado Springs, CO
Works well, but the sensor is not recognized sometimes when I resume after hibernating my PC. Pantone is aware of the issue, but does not have a fix. This has been going on for 2 years (on my Huey; I just added a Huey Pro, and it does it too). Overall, it's an inexpensive, effective monitor calibrator. Also, the wire coming from the sensor has no strain relief and seems rather delicate. But it works fine. I use it on two monitors and it gets them looking pretty similar. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good, Inexpensive Calibration (While It Worked) Tuesday, July 01, 2008 A Customer from Atlanta, GA
Our Huey Pro worked great for over a year. Then, all of a sudden, calibrations started leaving the screen a vivid pink color. I searched Pantone's support site (search for color cast) and found that they are aware that some units have this problem and are replacing them. You just open a ticket, include your serial number, some system info and your address, and they will send you a new unit. The bad news is that they are out of stock right now and don't expect to have them in stock until the end of July 2008. So we'll have to wait. I know this because I called their support number and after pressing only one number to get to support, an actual person answered the phone (with no hold - I know - shocking, isn't it?) and told me the status in a very frank and honest manner.
So even though ours is currently broken, I still give the product 4 stars because it's much more affordable than any other color calibration system I've seen and (when it was working) it did the job (at least all I needed). And now that we're having a problem, they are going to replace the unit with no hassles regarding warranty periods, etc. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! Tuesday, May 27, 2008 A Customer from Buffalo, NY
This product by Pantone is simply the greatest invention since sliced bread! The calibration on my new IMAC really was awful. I heard about huey Pro from an Apple salesperson. I installed it in less than five minutes and WOW what a difference. This product is a must for anyone working with LCD monitors in print production work. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great for calibrating monitors Wednesday, April 09, 2008 A Customer from Waterford, WI
I highly recommend this for calibrating your monitors, this makes a huge difference in picture quality on every system I have tried it on. Seems to function very well. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Pink color cast - no response to tech. support Sunday, April 06, 2008 A Customer from Napervile, IL
The product is very easy to use and it improved my display color somewhat, but there is a problem, the "calibrated" display now has an obvious pinkish color cast. The company (Pantone) sites implies this is an known issue and promised if filled out the form, they will respond and send a replacemnet unit, 1.5 weeks has passed, no response whatsoever...
I posted this question to a popluar photography website, where people talks photography related topics so people there tend to be more knowledgeable about color and photography in general, several people stated they had the same problem, so be aware, there is a bad batch out there (hope not all their Huey/Huey PRO are flawed!!). Have a Macbook Pro connected to an external monitor with a very different color profile. Huey got them matched quite well, not perfectly but close, and certainly much better than before. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Pantone Huey Wednesday, December 19, 2007 Harold Zeltner from Chester, NJ
I have both a laptop and desktop. If I color corrected photos on one, it would look different on the other and print different from both screens. Now my photos look the same on both and print out the way I see them. Great product and easy to use. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Easy use, great images Monday, December 03, 2007 A Customer from Boston, MA
This thing is really easy to install and use. It calibrated my monitor and I never realized how bad the setup had been. Once you get used to looking at what the image SHOULD look like you'll never go back. I highly recommend this to anybody who uses their computer for photo or video editing. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good Product at a Good Price Wednesday, November 28, 2007 TraderPat from Dallas, TX
I have a 4 monitor setup and needed the Pro model which supports multiple monitors. It does an excellent job of establishing color consistency across all of the monitors. It would be nice if the unit would also adjust brightness and contrast for total consistency. As it is, this is a manual adjustment with not much guidance but it is an important step in the overall process. The Huey is a nice size device and attaches well. The only concern I have is with the cord going into the device. The perception is that it is fragile and it easily gets caught as you slide the Huey into its base. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent product, a must have for serious photogr Wednesday, November 28, 2007 Rick Schwamb from New Berlin, WI
This is one of the easiest and most effective products I have ever used. I was having problems getting my photos to print like they look on screen. The Huey Pro solved all that. It will pay for itself in a short period of time by doing away with all the wasted test photos I was printing.
I highly recommend this device. A++++ Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Great for the price Tuesday, August 07, 2007 A Customer from Cotati, CA
Quick to set up, works on multiple monitors easily. Automatic room lighting compensation feature is also very nice if you work near a window. Box includes a pantone card that you can hold up near your monitor to confirm exact colors. Was this review helpful?

Out of the box the Pantone Huey is a great product. In just a couple of minutes you can get your monitor looking more like it should. The interface is very easy to use, simple with good supporting instructions. While it supports multiple monitors, I found it a little tricky to get consistency between my Dell laptop and a couple of Dell LCD's. What's strange is that the newer lcd seems to take a long time to 'warm up' and after its been on awhile there is a noticeable color shift. The instructions tell you to leave your monitor on for 30 minutes prior to calibration, but apparently mine needs even longer. An additional note: When you start using the monitor immediately after you've calibrated it, you may sense that the colors are wrong. Whats really happening is that your eyes have adjust to the bad colors, and need to readjust for the correct ones. This went away after just a couple of hours use.
Overall it works exactly like it should, and you can use the included Pantone process color cards to confirm. At under $100 I think this is an excellent tool for developers, photographers, and anyone working with color. Was this review helpful?
