We just purchased our first Mac, and wanted the familiarity and ease of using Microsoft office products for documents. I have only used it a couple times, but so far it is great. It was very easy to load onto the computer, and there were no problems from start to finish. Was this review helpful?

The price of Office for the Mac was unbeatable. I am new to using a Mac but using MS Word was not too different from my years of PC use. I typically use Word and have found it to meet my expectations. I especially appreciate being able to save documents in earlier Word formats (word 97-2004) and being able to save in compatability mode.

I haven't used this product extensively, but my first impression of Excel was a disappointment. This was an upgrade from Office 2004 for Mac and is used on an iMac with a 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4 GB RAM and OS 10.5.1. Microsoft decided to remove the Visual Basic macro feature from Excel and replace it with Apple Script, which makes this version totally incompatible with its Widows counterpart in this regard. Also Word and Excel are painfully slow when launching and seems sluggish under normal use compared to the 2004 version. One improvement that's nice is the formula wizard in Excel. My advise: If you're currently using Office 2004 or X and you're proficient with Excel, use macros, share with Window users and isn't one that needs the newest bloatware, I wouldn't bother upgrading.
