5 of 5 Great product Saturday, August 06, 2005 Maria from Queens, New York
My computer is old and didn't have an ethernet card. I was given this one and I had never done anything like this where I had to install it myself but once I did the ease of getting it started was a breeze. Up to now it is working perfectly. Was this review helpful?

I've used dozens of FA311's in windows and linux machines, never had a problem with any of them. On linux machines just use the Digital tulip driver included in the linux kernel, it works fine; no need to mess with the netgear provided linux drivers. For the price, you can't beat this NIC. Im not some lame Computer user I have been working on Computers since I was a kid. Netgear always used to have the best of the best when it came to networking products. I bought two boxes a total of 15 network cards and none of them worked so if you find you self not getting anywhere with this product just rember to call Netgear they will tell you them selfs they made over a million that were incorrectly programmed and do not work correctly. If I were you I would buy some over type of network card but stay away from this model the FA311 the FA310 Worked perfectly fine. I believe it is Just this model they messed up. If your purchasing this card to go into a Red Hat Linux 7.0 or 7.1 instalation, keep looking. This card works great in a Win machine. I actually have it in my Win 2k box. But as for Red Hat 7.0 and 7.1 its hopeless. The net is scoured with people having problems trying to get this card recognized. Netgear even has drivers and instructions on installing this card in a Red Hat instalation but they dont work for 90% of the people from what Ive read on forums. It may work great for you, but I wouldnt risk it. Was this review helpful?
