Bought this because I'm too cheap to lay out hundreds of dollars on an intercom system. I thought a $70 unit might fill the void for a long motorcycle trip my wife and I just took. I wasn't expecting miracles, and I was not surprised with one.
Despite the hassle of fiddling with the cords and trying to get the ear piece lined up inside our helmets, we used it for 2/3 or the trip. I wear an open face helmet, and the only way to be heard was to slow down and cover the mic with my hand... probably not Nady's fault, since I think anything would have a hard time picking a voice out of all the wind. But it was pretty frustrating nevertheless. Even my wife's mic in her closed face helmet spent the fast majority of the time picking up road and engine noise. We had to yell to talk to each other.
The FM was worthless, and the aux input was little better. We'd brought an MP3 player to listen to some tunes while riding, but it was not able to overcome the road and wind noise.
At low speeds cruising around town, it might work ok, but I'd rather just holler over my shoulder in those situations.
All in all, I'm glad I didn't spend any more on this experiment, and we don't bother to bring it along when we go out riding.
So, if you only ride slowly, or if you both wear full face helmets and don't mind yelling to hear each other, you might be able to squeeze some functionality out of this unit, otherwise, you'd be better served to save your $$. Was this review helpful?
