NETGEAR 5GHz Wireless-N HD Access Point/Bridge

Great product - the 5GHz wireless A and N bands are brilliant. Netgear's new line of "HD" products came out at just the right time. I have a Vista Home Premium (Media Center) PC that records high-definition TV plus an XBox 360 with the wireless B/G/A adapter to stream recorded HD television shows from the computer. Before I bought this the 2.4 GHz G band was barely cutting it for me - causing TV playback to stutter every time we popped popcorn or even when our neighbors used the microwave. Now that I have this Access Point I can use the A band and the signal is strong and consistent. If you want even more bandwidth purchase the two-pack and use the two units as a wireless bridge. That would give you the full N bandwidth of 300Mbps. However with one device only like I have the wireless A (5GHz) band has a max bandwidth of 54Mbps, enough to stream HDTV if you have a fairly clear path for the wireless signal. Until the 360 comes out with a wireless N adapter wireless A is your best bet. Either way the WNHDE111 is ready for both. An additional note: the device provides two network jacks per unit, meaning if you go with the two-pack and "bridge" a connection over wireless N you can physically plug in both your XBox (or PS3) and your HD-DVD (or Blu-ray) player in the unit that sits in your entertainment center hutch. Also, in Media Center turn on the Network Optimization graph and watch the signal history as you position your AP at just the angle.
