5 of 5 MS Vista Rocks Friday, January 02, 2009
A Customer from Fredericksburg, VA

This is the best operating system ever. It blows XP away. I read a lot of reviews prior to ordering Vista. After reading the reviews I was hesitant. But I am glad that I purchased it. I built my first computer and installed Vista. It installed in less then 5 minutes and I haven’t had a problem one. Of course this was a need install and not an upgrade. Buy IT…

4 of 5 Nice product, wish it weren't mandatory Saturday, September 06, 2008
Dave from Cleveland, OH
For most users, Windows XP would remain a suitable operating system for a long time to come, but when it came time to build my new system, Vista was a necessary choice for an OS that would remain supported, both for hardware and software issues, and there are already some games that absolutely require Vista. I do want to encourage other users though, that the switch has been very little trouble, and some of the gripes that people have on initial release just aren't valid now. This is a good looking and very functional version of Windows that you should be happy with as long as you have the fairly robust system to handle it. There are more than cosmetic changes in Vista, but the ones they made are very pleasing to me. The system explorer navigation took me a little while to get accustomed to, but it's an improvement from the old also. If you are using a new hard drive, or do not need to re-size current partitions then you should be fine, but I found the partition tool included in the Vista installation was not very good at anything other than a fresh install, so in that case I recommend that you partition your hard drive (NTFS) according to your preference prior to installing Vista, allowing 20gb or more to the system drive to allow for plenty of expansion. If Microsoft would price a good operating system a bit lower, I could have rated this product higher all around, but this is not a flawless product, and I do have some criticisms and lesser issues to deal with.
