One would think that a webcam manufactured by microsoft would be easy to install in windows, or at least compatible without installing any additional software. The camera requires you install more microsoft software that is inefficent and nags you to use microsoft video chat software. If you screw up the install (ie plug the camera in before you install the software) the camera won't work without editing the registry and manually deleting all the files. I have gotten this camera to work with skype... eventually. It is also incompatible with the PS3 and I assume Mac OS, although I haven't tried the latter. Get a logitech that will easily work with all platforms instead of this microsoft piece of junk. On the plus side, it's cheap and it CAN work but image quality and sound is mediocre.

I never had one of these. Bought it to have video conversations with the long distance relatives. The resolution is very good. Snapshots are decent, good enough for this camera. View angle is rather limited, so must point the camera towards the view. Response is alright, light tailing only. Software takes a while to load everytime it is ran, so be patient. A nice budget camera.

Well I am using win xp home edition. The installation and set up took only 10 minutes at most. The picture quality and motion capability for MSN live messenger is great. Almost real to life. Of course if you move too fast it will "frame" you. Connection quality has alot to do with video quality.The focus adjustment on the camera itself is a good idea. I did notice it does hang from time to time using Yahoo messenger. But still overall a good product.

The Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000 Webcam - CMOS - USB works beautifully using Skype. I have one and my son in England has one and it is like being in the same room. We use good lighting and speak distinctly. We notice that rapid movement in fron of the camera causes some distortion but we have quickly learned how far to sit from the camera for optimum viewing. I am pleased with the product and certainly recommend it. My son in Belgium plans to get one as well.
