5 of 5 Memorex DVD+R DL 2.4-8X 50 pack Tuesday, July 01, 2008 David Deubler from Mercerville, NJ
Great product, no problems so far in unusable disks. Unlike other brands, such as Phillips.
I find Memorex products are very reliable. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 almost as good Wednesday, June 25, 2008 Robert from Cottage Grove, MN
Almost as good as Verbatim, but Verbatim sales are scarce. About one in fifteen burns ends as a coaster, so that's not so bad. They are rated at 8X, but I turn it down to 4X and get better results. Was this review helpful?

The only time I have a problem with these discs is when I let my DVD-burning software decide what speed it should burn them at. I've burned these at 2.4x, 4x, 6x, and 8x; the only time I get good, error-free burns is at 2.4x. That's on three different burners (a Sony DRU810, Lite-On LH-20A1L, and a Samsung SH203B). The Lite-On has the biggest problem with them, but then, that's been my experience with every Lite-On product (not just optical disc drives) I've ever owned. I don't recall the Sony ever giving me a bad dual-layer burn, and the Samsung is fine as I set the burn speed to 2.4x (it defaults to 8x).
So, I guess it all boils down to: these discs are fine so long as you give them plenty of time to burn at a slow burn speed. It takes me about an hour to burn--and verify--7.5GB of data at 2.4x. These Memorex discs work for me at this point, though I do want to try other dual-layer media if the ungodly price of some them comes down. Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 Junk Tuesday, June 03, 2008 A Customer from Sunrise, FL
I have purchased this in the past. Two of fifty disks burnt. The rest failed. I tried three different burners all with the same result. It is a gamble. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 excellant over all price Tuesday, June 03, 2008 ********************** from Holland, Mi
I have between 4 - 8 bad per 50 pack. Over all ok quality. Can't beat the price. Would like to see 100 packs available.
better quality than SONY dual layer (6 - 12 bad per 50 pack). Philips dual layer (2 - 6 bad per 50 pack) more expensive. HD quality picture and sound. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 50 pack of double layers, good price. Saturday, May 17, 2008 A Customer from Pittsburgh, PA
great prices. One of the few I have seen in a 50 pack for double layer discs. Couple of coasters so far though. Not sure if I can blame the discs yet. I haven't burned too many discs yet. They all burn successfully, but my DVD player doesn't seen to be the happies with them. But for the price (especially with the extra 10 bucks off for the google check out) they are not bad. The 50 pack was close to what I was paying for a 25 pack, so even if half of them are bad, I still break even. I have to say, the 50 pack was the most attactive feature, so I did not have to order 25 packs as often, not sure if I will buy them again though, might try a different brand next time. I think Verbatims are over rated for the price of them. I have had great sucess with TDK and RiData. Guess I'll what happens with the rest of the spindle. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great Product Wednesday, April 02, 2008 zeronothing from Pennsylvania
Great product, haven't had any issues. I tend to use a write speed of 4X instead of 8x because of quality reasons. haven't had a bad burn yet. plus I would like to add, I use Ubuntu Linux and gnomebaker to backup my DVD collection. thanks buy.com for a great deal Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 New DL burner needs food Wednesday, April 02, 2008 grelfod from NE
Finally got a DL burner and was paying $3 a disk at local store. Burner was unhappy because it needed more food. When I saw the great deal on these disks here at Buy.com I thought 'what the hell' I try them - Have had no issues yet and have burned 10 already in my new Pioneer DL DVD burner. I have been using dvd-dls for close to two years now, I have mainly used Verbatim, although for a time I have used TDK. I got these to save some money, but it didn't work out. I have tried 5 discs so far out of the 50, all five have failed burning. I am in the middle of trying to return them now. Spend extra to get Verbatim. Was this review helpful?

First couple discs burned okay at 2.4x. I had no option to burn at 8x though; after thinking my problem was the Sony DRU-820A burner, I upgraded to the latest firmware. Now I'm getting Power Calibration Area Errors no matter which app or speed I use to burn. I've since tried my old Memorex DVD+R 16x discs and they still work great. These have been a complete waste of $$$$. Was this review helpful?

Only had a couple crap out during burning and that's probably because my DVD writer is a year old and has writen hundreds of DVDs. Great buy in my opinion. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Great price, good product !! Tuesday, February 12, 2008 A Customer from Irving, TX
When I first started making backups on these DVDs I couldn't play them back on my Magnavox DVD Recorder/Player. They also didn't play very well on my Panasonic 5-disc changer.
But then they play fine on my 10year old Sony DVD player. I have made several backups and so far they all run fine. I wonder if it is my back up software or the DVD media, so I gave it an overall 4. But for now I am not complaining much. Was this review helpful?

I had much better results with the 2X DVD product then these 8X ones. I used a Plextor 715 burner and changed the write speed to 2X and even with Nero I had at best 1 out of 3 success rate. These disks are to expensive to throw away. I will continue to use the memorex 2X product until I update my burner to a 16X model. Was this review helpful?

Well, I had been using 2.4 speed memorex dvd+r dual layer discs and was really pleased. I never had a single problem. When i read complaints that these 8 speed discs didn't work I was nervous. They were the only ones I could find in a 50 pack so I roder some to try. they're great! I can't say they're much faster than the 2.4 speed, but maybe that's just me. I never timed the things. I'm assuming that those who had problems had dvd writers that could write at 8x speed. I'm not 100% on that but that's the only thing i could think of cause I've had zero problems with these discs. they're fast and reliable. A+++!!! Was this review helpful?
