This is a good program. I installed it on a computer with Windows XP quickly and it works. However, this program is not installed on the computer with Windows Wista. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Its good but slows down you machine if you run ALL Monday, August 04, 2008 Srikanth Kondeti from Herndon, VA
I have installed this product as I have used the same in the past. Performance wise its good and its good have on our machine to stop junk.
But ONLY problem I am seeing here is, When I install all of them and run McAfee its really SLOWS down my laptop drastically and eaten up all my memory. So I went to Services(from Control Panel) and selected all Mc.Afee services to MANUAL instead of AUTOMATIC Start. Then its look ok. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Smoother than OneCare Monday, August 04, 2008 A Customer from lawrenceville,ga
I found McAfee Total Protection easier to setup and understand during usage. Auto setup was reliable and timely. Most important was the far less reboots than OneCare required with every little change or interruption. Backup is a great feature. Was this review helpful?

2 of 5 Not sure its doing anything Monday, June 23, 2008 A Customer from phila, pa
I bought the software primarily because it was going to be free after the Buy.com rebate. Alas, the rebate requires you to have documentation of a prior purchase of a McAfee product so I didn't get the rebate. As far as the product goes - it was loaded onto our computer (which seemed to have a virus or something else causing it to malfunction) and the software didn't do anything to help.

5 of 5 Best computer protection Wednesday, June 18, 2008 A Customer from Lansing, MI
I have been using McAfee products for years and love them. They don't put too much load on your machine and still do an excellent job. I like the extras we get in this bundle, I use the shredder often and I think site advisor and system guard are excellent products as well. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good price, good product Tuesday, June 17, 2008 A Customer from 77030, Houston, TX
The McAfee total protection was shipped and arrived on time. It was easy to install and downloaded all the required updates from the web automatically. I used the Internet protection last year, so I don't want change, that's why select it. Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 McAfee Fouls Up Everything Tuesday, June 17, 2008 kiboko1@earthlink.net from Kilmarnock, VA
This software has more bugs than my my dog. What will make your computer safe is to NOT install it. Oh, by the way I have had 25 years of university level computer experience. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 Not Happy With This Product.... Tuesday, June 17, 2008 mhostottle@sbcglobal.net from Cleveland, Ohio
I've installed this product 3 times and it took the third time to get a complete install to work, that was on my laptop, it took 2 installs to get it on my desktop. After all of this it will not update, I will never buy this product again, not worth the money at all. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Careful about the rebate! Monday, June 09, 2008 A Customer from Philadelphia, PA
I thought this was a general rebate for anyone, but it's only for past users. The fault was mine, since I should have read the fine print. But I think it's a common mistake, so make sure you have evidence that you used McAfee or Norton in the past. The program works fine- no problems just yet, although it did take a while to update itself. I've only installed it on one computer, but it seems from the other reviews, that there's no problem installing in on several. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 McAfee Total Protection Affects Web Browsing Tuesday, May 13, 2008 A Customer from Spartanburg, SC
I purchased the 3 user McAfee Total Protection plan and loaded it on 2 PCs. One is running Vista Home (advanced?), the other Windows XP with SP2. The installation went smoothly, and the network portion of the software recognized the other two PCs I have running stand-alone McAfee software.
However, on my Windowx XP machine (HP Media Center) the installation slowed down my web surfing by about 200% or more. Pages that would load in nanoseconds now take upwards to a minute or more to load. I have been on-line with tech support, but have not resolved the issue. They have been polite and responsive, but tend to be working from a script, and are not stateside. (The other PC's are working fine.)
I have always liked McAfee products, but if this browsing issue cannot be corrected I will go back to AVG free for the machine in question. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Waste of time and money Tuesday, May 13, 2008 A Customer from Savannah, Ga
I bought McAfee because I have two computers at home and I wanted to save time and money by getting a license for more than one computer. Well, I have dial up and my laptop has Vista on it and apparently McAfee doesn't like Vista or dial up because after spending 2 hours trying to download from the website I received an error message telling that Vista was blocking the website and I had to do it from the CD. Now every time I try to get into my computer I can't do anything online because McAfee has to do all these updates and slows the computer down--- alot!! If you have Vista or dial up do not waste your time or money. It's back to Norton for me! Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Easy Use Sunday, March 16, 2008 C.E. from Dulles, VA
Once I loaded this on a computer all I had to do was identify my email account. Once that happened, all computers associated with the email account were automatically associated to this 3-user version. So I didn't have to do anything more. Finally a product that is smart and easy to use. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Be Careful Installing Monday, February 25, 2008 Aires from Wash, DC
As others have mentioned, this is a bit tricky to install. To get it to work properly, you need to remove all traces of previous McAfee programs. That means after you remove previous editions of McAfee via Windows, you still need to get a program from McAfee to remove other files. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Good price but installation problems Friday, February 01, 2008 A Customer from Minersville, PA
The price with the rebate ofer was great, but I had to reinstall it several times and eventually had to get assistance from McAfee support to get it to install properly. After uninstalling the previous version I owned, it still would not install until they sent a patch to take out files. It now works fine after some aggravation. Was this review helpful?

I purchased the software because the Norton Avtivirus subscription was running out. Installed McAfee Total Protection, and about 2 week later started get an error about an unknown trojan. That is when the fun started, I followed all of the instructions, going thru the on-line support, and loaded chat software to chat with support team. After waiting in the queue for 30 minutes, it appeared I was going to be connected to a support person, but I was immediately disconnected. So, I decided to try and contact customer support, after over 2 hours of run around and being given contact numbers that did not work, I was told I could call McAfees virus removal service for the small fee of 69.95. I ask them what I purchased their antivirus software for if it does not protect me from viruses and they had nothing but excuses. Even if the software is free, good luck getting your rebate, keep photo copies of everything you send them, use anything else. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 customers found this review helpful. 3 of 5 McAfee's rebate hassle devalues the software Wednesday, January 23, 2008 A Customer from Oregon
The software works fairly well. However, there are two issues that would make me think twice about purchasing McAfee again. First, after the software updates, it wants to reboot, which is ok. However, if you tell it to remind you later, it will remind you & remind you & remind you. It's annoying when you are working on something important and don't want to be interrupted.
Second, I sent everything in for my rebate, but McAfee notified me by e-mail that my claim was invalid for failing to prove previous ownership. As proof of previous ownership, I had sent the reciept of my previous McAfee along with my rebate request and all the required documentation. I kept photocopies of everything. I emailed McAfee, told them I had photocopies of everything I submitted and was filing a complaint with my states attorney general. Wow...within 12 hours I received an email from McAfee advising me "You are a valued McAfee customer, so we are pleased to inform you that we have updated your record. Your rebate submission is now valid. The rebate check should be mailed in the next 4-6 weeks.
Word to the wise...keep photocopies of everything you submit and send your submission with return reciept requested. It is worth paying the US postal service a couple bucks to get a reciept if you have a large enough rebate. This approach keeps these companies from ripping you off.
Bottom line, McAfee software would be worth it if McAfee didn't try to rip you off on rebates. Was this review helpful?

I used McAfee a few years back and found the security center interface to be unacceptable at that time. This version works much better. I was very pleased with the integration of spamkiller and the extra features like backup and disk cleaner. I'm not sure what the home network protection feature is good for. Overall Recomended. 3 of 5 Value for money... Friday, January 11, 2008 EVK from Irving, Texas
I have used both Norton and McAfee. Only problem I feel is the system speed. I feel McAfee is eating some system's memory and CPU speed. Both are almost equal in other aspects. But should remember McAfee comes Cheaper and worth a lot for the money I have given.

5 of 5 Mcafee rocks Thursday, January 10, 2008 Jayakumar from Buffalo, NY
Great software. I have always used Mcafee since I owned a windows 3.1 system many years back. I had a vista system running, and could not get my 2007 version working on it. So I got this one. It was indeed a great deal. Thanks Buy.com for bringing me great deals time and time again. Was this review helpful?
