I switched to Macafee from Norton because Norton was causing all kinds of stalling on my computer. So far, it seems like a good switch. Installation was simple, and after setup, I was able to use it with ease. I'm pleased with the product. They give you what they advertise. I would recommend this product to others too. Latest version will not run on my XP machine. Get a consistent error stating Not Fully Proteced - try to Fix - ultimately tells you to validate your account - that fails also (account just fine). On line help was worthless - directed to remove and reload. Even with the supplied clean up program, would not unload completely. Reload resulted in same error. Any further help would have cost $2.95 a minute or $39.95 - to get telephone support for a program that did not work correctly from install. Been a McAfee customer for years - cancelled my subscription and asked for a refund. No dice; "beyond 30 days" even though the program does not work. Will never buy McAfee again. product performs as advertised. McAfee is the only product i use on both my home and work computers. easy to install and does not bog down my machine when scans are in progress.
would buy again.

It works and it's free after rebate. My only real gripe is that the email spam filter is very aggresive and targets emails from actual people I know. Also the thing wants to update and reboot my machine almost every day.... but I guess that's better than not getting updates.
Also the network protection is kind of strange. If you share a folder or a printer on your network you have to authorize the connection from every computer to the share. Hassle. Was this review helpful?

First off, I want to say a word about Buy.com. I had a problem with my order.... I never got it (even though thr tracking information stated that I had recieved my order). I made one phone call (less than 5 minutes), the problem was quickly resolved and they made good on the order. Kudos to Buy.com for excellent customer service.
The McAfee software works well, although it can be a tad annoying at times because of the frequent "alerts" that pop-up when various programs perform registry changes. Once you figure out what you have and what you want to keep (adware) it runs seemlessly in the background. All in all a good deal for the money. Was this review helpful?

Overall, the value I received from Buy.com and the performance of the McAfee software is excellent. I rated the product's ease of use a '4' because during installation, there are many undocumented software options to install. For instance, there is a "data backup" option, but my computer setup is fairly sophisticated and I was not sure if I could trust it nor do I really understand why my virus scanning software would be a backup solution. If I was infected with a virus, chances are I could be backing that virus up with the rest of my software.
There is a long story why I rated overall satisfaction '4'. My year subscription was up from McAfee and I received an offer from McAfee to upgrade and receive a rebate. I purchased through them, went to try the rebate and the rebate code was not working on the rebate website. I e-mailed the rebate's customer service and they could not help me. I called them and never could connect to a human (I tried all number combinations on their phone system.) Then I contacted McAfee via their support messenger service and after 45 minutes, the best they could offer was a discount on a different product I did not want; so I got my money back.
Fortuantely, I received an e-mail from Buy.com that same day with a phenomenal sale on the 3-user McAfee Internet Security Suite software which is what I want. From now on, every year I renew will check Buy.com first because I cannot trust McAfee's rebate integrity and Buy.com does not let me down. Was this review helpful?

After buying Zone Alarm Security Suite and having problems on a Vista and an XP computer. I went to AVG free until I bought the Mcafee Suite. I have not had any problems with Vista or XP equipped computers using Mcafee. I've been using it for a couple weeks. Plenty of time for problems to show up, but none so far. Was this review helpful?
