4 of 5 Good Dash Mount Saturday, November 22, 2008 A Customer from RI
Mount is heavy, solid and has a high friction base. But, it does shift around the dash under normal driving conditions. It doesn't slide around, it just needs to be readjusted on the dash every so often. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Easy to use Thursday, September 04, 2008 Jim from Park Ridge, IL
This dashboard mount is easy to use and, importantly, easy to remove and put away. Leaving the windshield mount on is an invitation to thieves, whereas this is out of sight when not in use. Was this review helpful?

I have a RoadMate 700 and this mount, although steady and with a good sticky grip, will only mount the GPS unit permanently. The swivel ball mount has only one plate that mounts permanently to the 700 unit. It cannot be removed without unscrewing four machine bolts which means that if you want to occasionally take the GPS with you in another car, you cannot use the traditional gooseneck suction cup windshield mount because the plates are different.
It's a "one-use" solution.
Why a single hook plate that matched the window suction mount was not used as a plate mount for this unit is a mystery.
This is a sledgehammer solution to very simple problem.
What were they thinking? They never stuck their heads outside of their own little box. I can't take this with me to use in rental cars. It's way too heavy and bulky for that purpose.
There is no information available on any site about adapters for this or any other mount for the RoadMate series.
