4 of 5 Not a G25, but good value for the money Tuesday, April 22, 2008 Jim from Port Townsend, WA
Well, I upgraded to a Logitech G25 wheel within a week of receiving my DFP. Buy.com had the best price at the moment on the DFP (others occasionally beat it, though) but after reading comments from G25 owners I decided to try it for the better force feedback, clutch and separate, gated shifter for use with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.
The G25 is hands-down better, even at twice the price it's well worth the upgrade if you can afford it. However, this DFP is a fine wheel for the money; pretty well-built, solid and well-supported by many games. I took off a couple of points because the shifter is sequential only, non-detachable and the "paddles" are small buttons mounted on the back of the wheel. True paddles, as on the G25, are much larger and much easier to use.
NOTE: Buy.com treats this product as a "video game" and will NOT issue an RMA for returning it, no matter what. Their usually-generous return privileges do no good with this product, so try to be sure before you buy. Mine's going on eBay in 99%-perfect condition because the G25 is just a better wheel for long-term use.
Owners of the new DF GT wheel (developed for the Gran Turismo 5 game) report that it's a significant upgrade over this DF Pro, so it's also worth considering. For the money, though, if you can get this wheel for $100 or less delivered, it's a very good value. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 The driving force pro Monday, May 28, 2007 Kevin LaTour from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin
The Driving Force Pro definitely gives you the driving experience for the price you get it for. I really like the choice of a sequential shifter or the paddle shifters. You have two choices of feedback on the Driving Force pro, 100% or 60%, always go with 60% because 100% is a bit uncomfortable. Another small problem is the paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel, when you're playing a game with 900 degree steering support and your turning the steering wheel beyond 90 degrees. the shifts can be a hard reach with your fingers. Overall using this steering wheel gives you more of a racing feel than just using standard hand controls Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 No GT Logo like Picture Shows... Monday, May 14, 2007 A Gamer from Mililani, Hawaii
Now GT4 is complete. Don't need to say anything more about the quality and satisfaction of this wheel. My complaint, as you see my satisfaction level at a 3... is that there is NO Cool "GT" Logo on the steering wheel like they advertise. I, being a perfectionist, wanted it perfectly as the picture showed.... didn't get it. It has the "logitech" kind of ugly logo in the middle... Call me picky. :-P Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Very Very Happy! Sunday, April 23, 2006 Wilfredo Salazar from Beaverton, Oregon.
Using the Logitech Driving Force Pro for PlayStation 2
device is awesome. I don't have something to secure yet and currently jerry rigging, but that does not stop me from losing track of time immersed in GT3 A-spec for many hours. I tell ya, my thumbs are loving it, no longer sore from the intensity of the game. (1)Amazing price (2)Very fast shipping (3)Great product. It's as easy as 123 @ Buy.com, and customer service is wonderful should any questions arise. Was this review helpful?

GranTurismo 4 really stands out with this wheel and pedals! I bought it for the kids, but find myself winding through any and all courses everytime I can! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 GT4 Final Element Monday, August 29, 2005 Oleg Baben. from Brooklyn, NY
This is an amazing toy. I didn't expect this much from it as it has given. It is hard to adjust to it from the Analog Cntrler. Especially if you spent the last 3 GTs playing with the controler. However, eventually you will settle down and learn the differences. It is in a WAY harder to drive and play the game with this attachment, probablly because the realism it provides you couldn't feel on the controler. But you will end up trying more and more because the steering is fun and your sure to stop using b-spec as often!
There are a few downs about the entire system rather then the actual wheel. For 1, no clutch , 2 Gear is +/- not 1,2,3,4,5,6-R but maybe GT5 will be diff?
Wheel is a LIL to small, but its fine, pedals are a bit too small, but u'll get use to it. and the gear shift could be a bit further away.
Other then that, response, realism and feedback are quite great!
now all thats left is a 40+ inch TV :) Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 This changes everything... Friday, April 08, 2005 A Gamer from Brisbane, CA
This adds a whole new element to GT series. Must have for GT4 enthusiast. You can get by with the control pad but why when this adds so much more to the experience.
The only complaints I have is difficulty setting up the correct driving position and pedal spacing. It would be nice to have a tilt adjustment too. Nevertheless, big step for GT4! Was this review helpful?

I was not sure if this wheel would be better than several of the previous one.
Get this model- it blows away all others. Takes a liittle time to adjust, but once you do forget about the analog control. Was this review helpful?

I've had all four versions of Gran Turismo and this is the first time I decided to buy a wheel. I have not been disappointed. GT4 is a great game made better by this wheel. Instead of sawing the steering using the game controller, you can feed in the right amount of steering, set a line, hold it, and slowly feed out steering. The throttle is no longer an on/off switch. You can actually balance the car using the throttle--just like in real racing. The construction seems first rate and set up was easy (although the manual is very light on information).
Is the wheel perfect? No. It is not self-centering. On very sharp corners where you must feed in lots of steering input, you must turn the wheel back manually rather than letting the wheel center itself as it would with a real vehicle. The pedals do slip a little and the lap attachment for the wheel is extra.
Despite these small issues, this wheel takes what is the closest thing to racing a real car and exponentially increases the fun. I can't recommend the wheel enough. Was this review helpful?

I already had the original GT3 Logitech Wheel, but being a big fan of the GT series decided to upgrade to this one to get the full experience. After receiving the wheel, my emotions are mixed, though ultimately I don't regret the purchase. Among the positives, are an upgraded force motor which feels more polished than the original. The feedback has a wider range of strength as well as less of a notchy, gear-like feeling when turning the wheel against the force. Also, there's no longer a dead-feeling zone in the center of the steering, and it's now easier to keep your car going perfectly straight since the steering isn't as supersensitive in the center. Having the d-pad and extra buttons on the wheel is also a definite plus. And although it's a small thing, another very welcome change for me was an extended USB cable to replace the ridiculously short cable found on the GT Force.
However, there are some downsides too. My biggest gripe could well be a GT4 issue rather than a wheel issue, but it's a problem nevertheless. As soon as your car starts sliding, it's about impossible to save it with the new wheel. The 900 degree movement means your arms are going to be flailing since you can't do the "bus driver palm" to spin the wheel, and turning the wheel fast enough to try to save the car sounds like you're tearing up the feedback motor. And the most frustrating part is that the wheel won't spin back to center quickly when you let go of the wheel, like a real car will do. So as has been said in other reviews, the 900 degrees is a mixed bag. It's more realistic, and nice in that you don't ever have to turn the wheel far enough to feel the wheel lock, but it's going to be rare that you'll ever use that much movement successfully. And at least in my opinion, the knob shifter is a total waste of space. It would have been cool if it weren't sequential, but since it is, I can't see why you wouldn't use the paddles instead.
So in conclusion, if you don't have a wheel this is a no brainer: BUY IT! The Gran Turismo series just isn't the same with a controller. no shipping/no tax, Buy.com is less than Best Buy, Circuit City, or any of the game stores around here. However, if you already have a wheel, you might want to go try a friend's first before you make your decision. Was this review helpful?

overall i was very impressed with this wheel. i don't know how or why i played GT3 without it, it's an entirely new game. the steering feels surprisingly realistic, as do the pedals. the only thing that's bugged me is every now and then it stops working and you have to unplug/plug it in and restart PS2 (it's happened on both mine and my cousin's), so i'm a little iffy on the longevity of it. also, find something to put behind the pedals so they don't move back... otherwise amazing product! i'm thinking about buying a 2nd one for VS mode =) Was this review helpful?

I purchased this wheel to get ready for the upcoming GT4, it works with a series of old racing games also.
If you love racing games , you need this wheel, its very realistic and helps you alot v. the old controller, you have way more control of the cars during turns, and the pedals are very responsive.Great feedback response from the wheel(like when you hit walls and run over grass)the feedback can be turn off and the wheel can be adjusted to your experience level(amateur-simulation)
and last but not least the cheapest place i found was here on this buy.com.
you wont regret it lots of fun. Was this review helpful?
