| | | | New SecureEasySetup feature makes wireless configuration push-button simple. |
| Wireless-G is the upcoming 54Mbps wireless networking standard that's almost five times as fast as the widely deployed Wireless-B (802.11b) products found in homes, businesses, and public wireless hotspots around the country but since they share the same 2.4GHz radio band, Wireless-G devices can also interoperate with existing 11Mbps Wireless-B equipment.
Since both standards are built in, you can protect your investment in existing 802.11b infrastructure, and migrate to the new screaming fast Wireless-G standard as your needs grow.
The Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router is really three devices in one box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect Wireless-G or Wireless-B devices to the network. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices. Connect four PCs directly, or daisy-chain out to more hubs and switches to create as big a network as you need. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection, files, and other resources such as printers and hard disk storage space.
To protect your data and privacy, the Wireless-G Broadband Router can encode all wireless transmissions using 128-bit WEP encryption, and also supports industrial-strength Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) wireless security. The Router protects your PC from most known Internet attacks with a powerful Stateful Packet Inspection firewall. It can also serve as a DHCP Server, supports VPN pass-through, and can be configured to filter internal users' access to the Internet. And even with all this power, set up is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility.
With the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers, and multi-player games with the flexibility, speed, and security you need!
Verified Linksys products have been tested with Intel Centrino Mobile Technology for compatibility and interoperability, further enhancing your wireless experience.

1 of 5 Drops connections constantly Wednesday, February 25, 2009 A Customer from Los Angeles, California
Easy to set up, but drops connections all the time. I have to reset every day, at least once. I'm going to throw it away and buy another brand, I'm so disgusted with this router. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good Quality, Good Price Sunday, February 08, 2009 A Customer from Raleigh, NC

5 of 5 Highly recommended! Sunday, February 08, 2009 A Customer from Garden Grove, CA
The best thing I like about this product is the startup cd that comes with it. Very basic and self-explanatory, you simply put the cd in your computer and it gives you all the directions you need (from plugging in the router, to plugging the right wires in your computer, etc.) comes with mostly pictorial instructions so no need to worry about being computer saavy and the words that come along with it! I've bought two lynksys routers and I haven't had any problems in over a year! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Customer Service Sunday, February 01, 2009 Jax from Bacliff, TX
I had it all set up and it would not give a good signal. I called customer service and they we very very helpful. She stayed on the phone with me to configure all my computers. She was wonderful. My Wireless is working wonderful ever since. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Awesome Router Tuesday, January 27, 2009 Sharon from Denver, CO
This is all the router a home needs. I use it with 2 other people as we click away on our laptops. Product performance is dependable. It's size is not cumbersome and takes little room for placement.
The only negative is that it is not a 1-2-3 easy set-up if you want to secure your network. I don't give free rides on my wireless and neither should you. It took me about 3 hours to initially set-up properly, but I am an IT person. The general computer user will need help. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Highest quality and dependability Tuesday, December 30, 2008 Mike from Long Island, NY
I purchased this Linksys wireless router to set up a new home network for a friend. I always recommend Linksys for their security and their ease of use.
This was attached to a DSL modem, and is working perfectly.
I admit, Linksys has a lot of security settings, but once they are configured you can just forget about it all together-
I have previously used Netgear and Dlink gear, but after they failed I replaced them with Linksys gear.
Linksys is a little more money, but this is definitely a case of "you get what you pay for".

5 of 5 Great Wireless Router! Sunday, November 30, 2008 CyberDuk from Los Angeles, CA
Works great! You can't go wrong with Linksys. Mine is on all the time and I tend to forget about it because it does what it supposed to. It also supports latest network security modes. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 If your router keeps dropping the connection, the Sunday, October 12, 2008 A Customer from Columbus, OH
I've had a LinkSys router for about 3 years and recently I started having a lot of problems losing connection to the internet. I figured the router was getting old and needed replaced. But, while going thru the regular pain of rebooting the router, I noticed that the "internet" light on my cable modem was not lit. It was the modem that was failing, not the router. To solve the problem I had to keep rebooting the modem. I called the cable company and they replaced the 5-year old cable modem for free. Now everything is running fine. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Easy to use and reliable. Wednesday, October 08, 2008 Bill from Seattle, WA

I replaced by old router with this one and noted improved reception throughout my house and back yard. Set-up was straigt-forward with the enclosed CD, including the security features, which I didn't set up with my last router due to complexity. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Router works flawlessly Wednesday, September 10, 2008 A Customer from San Antonio, TX
I finally got to install this after being stored for about 4 months... easy setup and no issues with dropping connections.. i had never used a router before (reason why it was stored for a while) Within 5 minutes I was online and i had added 4 computers, 3 laptops, 2 APs, a Wii, XBOX and XBOX 360 to the network.. they all worked great.. ftp server also working great with some ports forwarded and all.. same for games on both Live and PC... I only wish I had used the router back when i first got it since it was so easy to install and get the rest of the pcs/consoles on the network. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Wonderful Product Saturday, August 30, 2008 Deepak Gupta from Orlando, FL
The router is working perfect and giving me a very good range across my whole house. The interface is neat and nice, giving me lots of high-end features the ease of just a few clicks to setup my whole network.
I really liked the product a lot and with the security features it provides, I am highly satisfied that its keeping my network safe. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 What a pain to setup Wednesday, August 20, 2008 Royco from NJ
I bought this to replace a dead Netgear router. I have set up routers before and they were very simple but this was a major pain to customize. The "wizard" hinders more than it helps. I still can't figure out how to change the SSID nor select a password that I want! I expect that the performance will be fine but it is not user friendly at all. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 Didn't work for my application Sunday, August 10, 2008 CR from San Juan Capistrano, CA
I was trying to tie together two new laptops (including one Apple) both with built in wireless cards, and five existing hard-wired computers. The connections, when available, were very shaky. Even the Cat 5 connected machines had some trouble when in the past they had communicated beautifully.
I ended up buying a Wireless N router which set up easily and seems to be working well. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 3 years & still works fine Tuesday, August 05, 2008 JA from Dayton, Ohio
My first wireless router. Purchased 12/05 and has worked fine ever since. Occasionally I have to unplug and let it reset, but after the latest firmware upgrade, it has worked better. Transmit range is ok, I have a high gain antenna on a computer in the living room about 30 ft away and it picks up almost full strength most of the time. I use the encryption portion of it to help secure connections, but can be difficult to set up the first time unless you've done it before. I use the capability to disable the broadcast of the router ID name so others searching won't be able to see it, this option works great as long as your computer connects to it first and then you disable the ID broadcast (your computer will recognize it on subsequent startups without having to re-broadcast the ID from the router). I also use the MAC address filtering. This allows you to enter the serial numbers of the modems you want to allow to connect to your wireless. With the 3 security features that I use (encryption, ID disable & MAC filtering) I feel pretty secure when using this router. Overall, great product. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Best for the money Thursday, July 24, 2008 Tom Dawson from Hawkinsville, GA
As always this router has the best performance for the money. It is unfortunate they include a CD to help non technical users set up the unit. They stay non technical. It is one of the easiest to setup manually and secure properly. If you read any negative reviews on this router, it's the user not the router. I have read some that complained about the CD (read above). That support (ISP, Dell, Etc.) would not help them, guess what if you need help installing this, hire it done. If someone does not have the tools or expertise to do a tune up on a car, they take it to the shop. Why would someone without the tools or expertise try to setup a secure network. This unit out performs most other wireless routers. Was this review helpful?

1 of 5 Not reliable Monday, July 21, 2008 kc.schoppa from Lubbock, TX
When we first got the router, I was thrilled that it was easy to install and worked almost immediately! However, the next day my laptop didn't pull up the internet and our desk top computer was messed up and we couldn't get online until we went back to the wired type. We called our ISP who said call Linksys which we did. They were very helpful, got us back online, but never could get the laptop to respond. We've also been through the Dell tech support online and still cannot get it to work properly. I will probably be returning the router in the next few days. I'm still trying! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Value Thursday, July 17, 2008 A Customer from Larksville, Pa
I have been trying to get a wireless router set up and to work for a while now and had terrible results with the netgear routers. They were a joke, however this linksys router was not only easy to set up, but has great range. It is worth every penny. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good unit with minor shortcomings Wednesday, July 16, 2008 A Customer from Millersburg, IN
Works great, good instructions and setup menu. Internet access is good, but directly accessing router from the PC for setup is painfully slow. Only need to do this during setup though, so not a deal-breaker. Could use some screw holes on the bottom for wall mounting. Overall: excellent unit for the price. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Wireless Router Tuesday, July 01, 2008 A Customer from Madison WI
Installing the router was confusing. Using the cd to install the router did not work for me. The tutorial did not "find" the router. I was able to connect to the internet without finishing the install. It works just fine after I uninstalled the program. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Linksys is dependable! Thursday, May 22, 2008 A Customer from Chicago Illinois
My new wireless router is awesome. It was a little more difficult to set up than I anticpated, but luckily I had people who were willing to walk me through the setup!
It's much easier now that I have a secured wireless network in place. I don't have cords running all over the house...or people tripping on them.
I get kicked off once every couple days. Other than that, no complaints! Was this review helpful?
2 of 4 customers found this review helpful. 3 of 5 Not reliable. Wednesday, May 21, 2008 A Customer from New York, NY
Doesn't work reliably - it often drops the internet connection and needs to be rebooted. This happens more often when the wireless is being used and seems less likely to happen when all machines are wired.
Also, its very slow to administer. Linksys/Cisco repeatedly downgrades the specs on their routers to make them cheaper, and I think they went too far on this with the revision 8.
You get what you pay for I guess. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Very good value & Fast Delivery Sunday, May 18, 2008 Norm from Gainesville, VA
Works right out of the box. Easy setup and Linksys support is the best. I have set up many of these routers and not had any problems. Buy.com has the best price and free shipping -- usually get them in one to two days.

This Linksys router drop internet connection not as often as other guys complaint but it does. I do unplug and plug it back again and works fine. Then work for a long while until next freeze. I have it for almost a month now and during that time it has only freeze twice. For me it is not a big problem, beside that works great. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 OK, but some connection issues Saturday, March 22, 2008 A Customer from Redondo Beach, CA
I've had this router for a few weeks. Set-up with the included software was straigtforward, although the software seemed to spend an excessive amount of time finding the router, and it looks for it frequently. It worked fine until recently, when my upstream connection became very slow, to the point that I could not upload jpg image files without the transfer timing out. I finally reset the router and the problem disappeared. So far it hasn't happened again. Was this review helpful?

I have used multiple routers over the years and for home use, I keep returning to the Linksys brand router. The router and wireless setup is consistent with previous versions, which is straight forward and easy to install.
As a previous reviewer reported, the Linksys router will outlive your cable modem several times over. It is a solid device. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Router Sunday, March 16, 2008 Spidy67 from Maine
I have had this router for around 4-5 yrs. I thought it was failing and decided to purchase a new one. I have the new router still in its box since my old wrt54g still works fine. This is a great router it has worked flawlessly for years, wish i could say the same for my isp's modem. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 good wireless router Monday, March 10, 2008 Jason from 80109

5 of 5 Linksys quality Friday, March 07, 2008 Bogdan from Atlanta, GA
I use one of there from dec 2005. I just bought another one, for my sis. Because she has a DSL connection, it took me over an hour to make the router understand what it was supposed to do. The Wireless Assistant (if I remember the name of the application on the CD) gave me headaches, refusing to connect even after I entered the user name and password for the PPPoE connection. So, I decided to configure the router by myself. It took me 10 minutes. Strong signal, no problems. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great Tech Support Tuesday, February 26, 2008 A Customer from Wisconsin Dells
I purchased this wireless router for use with Verizon DSL. The step-by-step easy configurator is simple enough to follow, but the router local ip address (for advanced router set up) and the dsl modem local ip address (for advanced modem set up) collided. After trying all of the self-guided trouble resolutions, I eventually needed to call Linksys tech support. They identified the problem and walked me through the solution very quickly. 5 of 5 Great Product Monday, February 25, 2008 JW from Somerset, Ky

4 of 5 Works great once you get set up Monday, February 25, 2008 Mike from Wake Forest, NC
I followed the directions on the CD sent with the router. I couldn't get it working right wirelessly. I finally did get it working by myself with no security, but not with security. I called Tech Support and got as far as I could go with the "self help" option. I finally had to ask for a real person, which took about 30 minutes of being on hold to get. She had me download updated software to configure my router, but it still failed to make a connection with security enabled. I got transferred to a different tech which took about another 10 minutes. With his help I had it running with security enabled in about another 10 minutes. Once it was set up right, it worked great. It just took about 2 hours to set up. Was this review helpful?

What can i say, it worked flawlessly and very happy with the price.

Last Month I purchased Link sys Router Model No. Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router - WRT54G. But I am not at all satisfied with the performance. First of all it is not easy to install, almost took 4-5 hour to install. Secondly, not at all user friendly to add/remove computer to/from the router. For first couple of weeks the performance was really good but as the time progresses the permormance are downgrading. I am not at all happy with the router and planning to replace it.
