Installed easily into an available PCI slot. I let Windows XP Pro find the new hardware and set up the initial drivers. I then updated the drivers only from the setup DVD. I was then able to easily connect to my wireless connection via my Cradlepoint MBR-1000. Data transfer rates are good and have not experienced any dropped signals so far. Very satisfied! The LinkSys WMP300N wireless N installation and setup was easy. No issues, and it worked perfectly.
The unit is about 120ft away from a LinkSys wireless modem and in another building.

The LinkSys wireless adapter was very easy to install and setup using the included instructions. The only issue I have with the product is the antennae cable is short. It would be useful to have the opportunity for a six or ten foot cord. Was this review helpful?

The performance of this card makes the hassle of installing it worthwhile. The installation disk comes with instructions that are somewhat obscure and not very straight-forward if you are installing it to an XP system. But after some poking around the disk it went fairly smoothly once I figured out what was wanted.
The physical installation went much more smoothly than the software install. Pop the card into an empty PCI slot, hook-up the clearly labeled antenna leads, re-boot and you are done.
I've been using this for three weeks. I get 100% signal across an open room, distance about 13 feet. I hook up at about 260 Mbps give or take 50 every time I check. This is faster than my CAT5e speed. Next week This will be moving my son's computer three walls and fifty feet away from the router and that will be the real test. I'm using it with a WRT300N router that is doing okay with his USB based WiFi card but I think he needs something gutsier and this looks to be it. Was this review helpful?

I finally obtained the WMP300N and started to reap the benefit of my WRT310N Router. Installation was a breeze after checking the Linksys website for the updated drivers and installation instructions. The signal strength is good and it is certainly fast compared with previous "g" equipment. The price was right and the free shipping was an added bonus. I needed a wireless NIC for a desktop machine that sits in my motorhome. You never know what sort of connectivity you'll find on the road. The card installed easily and the remote antenna gets excellent reception. I haven't pushed it into wireless-n service but it was quick and easy to get up and connected.

Because of the issues I had in installing this product, I would NOT recommend this product for non-PC literate buyers. This is a good product, but PRIOR to installing the card, 1) you need to download the drivers off the Linksys website, 2) run the driver install process, 3) install the card, 4) point the new hardware install process to the location where the Linksys drivers are, 5) use Windows to configure the wireless network.

Initially, it was easy to install the Linksys software, but the Linksys Monitor program caused may problems for my connectivity. Dropped Internet connections, slow wireless startup, security setup issues, etc. Even after I disabled the Monitor program and said use Windows to manage the wireless connection, the software continued to run and use resources. Silly!!! I had to download and install just the drivers, then uninstall ALL the Linksys software, since I could not just load the drivers from the CD.
<br><br>
In the end, I like the Linksys card and the cable attached antenna. I do wish the cable could be extended, since it's short (only 3 feet) and can barely reach my desk. At least it's not behind the computer, where it wouldn't get as good a connection. Was this review helpful?
