5 of 5 Works great Wednesday, April 02, 2008 A Customer from Connecticut
I added this switch to a home network that consists of multiple Mac's, PC, xbox and Apple TV. I have a Linksys WRT54G wired/wireless router. Installation was a painless "plug n play" affair. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent product Wednesday, February 13, 2008 JCP from Wethersfield, CT
I replaced a 100 mbps half-duplex switch from a very old Linksys networking kit. My Cable/DSL router was having issues and always needed to be powered off and back on, plus when I was on my PC (direct into the router) and my kids on theirs (into the separate switch), the performance was laggy. Now everything is humming along and I rarely have to restart the router. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 A Great Way to Expand Your Home Network Thursday, December 13, 2007 Art T. from Everett, WA
Very straight forward. People that buy these usually know why and what they are trying to accomplish. Readout lights provide status of switch and connection speeds. My only wish is that the documentation descibe what the uplink and neighboring port is to be used for. Documentation lacks any description of their use - only that they are there. My current understanding is that they are for connecting a lower level network segment to the router that is upstream. I also do not know why there are two ports for this instead of one and that only one can be used at a time. Great speed and performance! Was this review helpful?

1 of 5 Don't expect to access a VPN Friday, November 30, 2007 A Customer from Sac, CA
If you are expecting to access a VPN through this (even for the computer wired directly to the router), forget it. I spent 4 hours with 3 tech support agents and the only thing that resulted from this what that the software that came with the router no longer worked. There response "that's okay you can add computers manually". Huh?
Very disappointing. Was this review helpful?

Good price - just plugged it in and it worked. Good for extending a router with a few more ports. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent gaming switch Wednesday, November 28, 2007 A Customer from Detroit Lakes, MN
I purchased this switch to be used for LAN gaming, and it works great. Portable, easy, and an incredible price. I also love how small it is. I have had no problems with it, and would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable small scale switch from a reliable brand. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 A Quick Easy Way to Add Ports Wednesday, September 26, 2007 A Customer from Jackson, Mississippi
I am thoroughly satisfied with the Linksys Workgroup Switch. I needed some extra ports and this was a quick easy way to add them without moving up to a high priced router. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 This product did what was expected. Friday, January 26, 2007 A Customer from Pottstown, PA
Hooked this product into an ethernet line from my SMC Wireless Router. I am now able to switch between three computers from this single ethernet line. My wireless router has only four ethernet ports. Three ports are in constant use. There are no compadability issues between my SMC Wireless Router and the Linksys 5 port 10/100 switcher. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works perfect Tuesday, October 10, 2006 Mr_D from Eau Claire, WI
Switch works perfectly.
Smaller size than most but full featured, full duplex with indicator LEDs, etc .
Appears to have low power consumption since unit runs fairly cool. The included DC power transformer is smaller than some others such as D-Link brand I've been using. Those also work fine, this one takes up less room. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Nothing negative to say.... Wednesday, October 26, 2005 Peter Apockotos from Brandon, FL
I love this little hub/switch. It is compact and does what it is intended to do.
I have never had a problem with my first one. The only reason I am purchasing a second is that in a recent move I lost the power adapter!
Linksys has alway created reliable equipment even before they were purchased by Cisco Systems. Too bad it is only a scale of 1 to 5. I would give it a ten! Was this review helpful?

I have two of these, and use them to connect four computers (two in one room, and two in another) to a broadband connection (my setup would allow up to seven computers to be connected simultaneously). They definitely work flawlessly, and if you have your network designed correctly, you should have no problems using them. The great thing about this switch is the autosensing feature, which allows it to work with both regular and cross-over network cables. This way you can use whatever cables you have in hand. I was previously using a long cross-over cables between two computers located in two different rooms, which I can now use to connect the two switches that I have. You could use cross-over cables between the switch and terminal computers as well, without a problem, as if they were regular cables. I would highly recommend this switch to anyone. I had my computer plugged into a EtherFast Cable/DSL Router on the other side of the house. I took that connection and plugged it into this EtherFast 10/100 5-Port Workgroup Switch. Then I plugged two computers into it. It worked right out of the box. It connected up the two computers and the remote DSL Router connection. My two computers were talking to each other and accessing the DSL connection without a hitch. It couldn't be simpler! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Inexpensive, Fast & Simple to Use Friday, July 15, 2005 Lewis Edge from Princeton, NJ
These switches, which I have installed at several locations, have never slowed down my network. Just plug the uplink into a CAT-5 jack and you'll have five CAT-5 jacks. It's that simple. The price is right too. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 1 switch out of 4 has intermittent problems Wednesday, June 30, 2004 Jim from Holt, Michigan
I use 4 of these switches on two separate networks. Suddenly, after a year of use, one switch has developed intermittent failures on all of its ports. The switch with the intermittent failures is the newest of the four. The other three switches work great and all are much farther into their 5-year warranty period than this one with the intermittent failures. I haven't started the process of making a warranty claim with Linksys, so I do not know how difficult that will be. Was this review helpful?

Since buying one of these switches and trying it out, I have started replacing all hubs on my clients networks with these switches and the performance is incredible. Daisy chaining these switches is easy as well as plugging in additional hubs. Can't beat it for the price. Was this review helpful?
