| | In the journey from the past to the present, Sarah Brightman has searched for her own place in the musical world, a home of own making, “where everything is in tune,” she says, “the voice, the type of music, who I am and who people think I am. I’ve been trying to find my own niche, a style very much my own. At last I’ve found it.” Born and raised near London, the eldest of six children of young parents, she listened to their pop and rock, but also danced to classical music as an aspiring ballerina first on stage at the age of three. Trained in acting and singing as well as dance, she appeared in “I And Albert” at the Picadilly Theatre when she was 13. Two years later, she became the youngest dancer ever to join Pan’s People, TV’s “Top of the Pops” dance troupe. By 16, she was a member of pop act/dance group Hot Gossip. In 1978, at age 18 she had her first Top10 U.K. hit with “I Lost My Heart To A Starship Trooper,” which made Hot Gossip a national sensation.

She makes Enya sound like Tom Waits, and LA LUNA is full of tunes that allow Brightman to freely weave her vocal magic. | | She moves convincingly through a number of styles here, the atmospheric soundscapes of the introductory "La Lune" giving way to the electronica-tinged "Winter in July," which in turn leads into a delicately updated arrangement of the British folk tune "Scarborough Fair," made popular in the '60s by Simon & Garfunkel. Thick washes of strings mate with electronic percussion on Brightman's version of the Procol Harum classic "A Whiter Shade of Pale." On "How Fair This Place," she shows off the impressive operatic chops that helped her to earn her diva stripes. Ultimately, whether she's sweetly subverting folk tunes, ably adapting classical material, or reigning like a pop princess over very contemporary arrangements, Brightman wields a voice that never fails to enchant. | Producer: Frank Peterson |

| | Bio | | Sarah Brightman is an extraordinary artist: her unmatched voice and fascinating music have moved millions of people around the world. "I work hard" are the words by which Sarah herself describes her own success. The oldest of 6 children, Sarah Brightman grew up near London. Only 14 years old Sarah started to sing and by the age of 18 landed her first hit single "I lost My Heart To The Starship Troopers". After a second hit Sarah decided to take another path. She further developed her classical singing and played in the original cast of Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber`s Cats. Together with Placido Domingo she sang in Webber«s classical composition Requiem; later on, Lord Lloyd Webber created the role of Christine in Phantom Of The Opera especially for Sarah, which she performed in London and New York. In 1997 the duet with the Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli Time To Say Goodbye became an international success, selling 5 million copies worldwide. Sarah Brightman«s musical style, a mix of classic and pop, has become the pioneer of an entirely new musical genre. Music--and this includes her own--has become a matter of heart for Sarah: "I sing the kind of music that I love. If I was to be untrue to myself it would not work. You have to express what comes from deep inside yourself. The audience notices any kind of betrayal." With her album La Luna, her incomparable mix of classical and pop music again forms the basis for exciting and often surprising interpretations, as compositions from Beethoven over to Rachmaninov and Dvorak on to Morricone and Cano will document Sarah«s typical musical variety.
