Kingston K-PEX 100 2GB Portable Media Player - KPEX100/2GB

I was lucky enough to pay $99 a month ago and am waiting for my $10 rebate. At $89, this gadget is a steal!! I take a lot of long subway trips in NYC and watching 45 minute TV shows work very well. I purchased smaller earbuds and the train-ride sounds are muffled so the TV/Movie audio is very, very clear. To answer the reviewer who wants to know how to delete files using the K-PEX, if you select the file you want and press the MODE (silver) button on top next to Repeat and Record, it will ask you if you want to copy or delete. Select option you want and presto!! File is deleted. This baby is a must have for all NYC subway riders!!! And...I purchased an extra 2GB mini SD card so now I have a 4GB media player for less than a hundred bucks. Sorry, Ipod video. You can't beat that.

Wow!!! The only thing I don't like about it is that you cannot delete things off it without hooking it to a computer (at least I haven't found any other way to). Though you can hook a USB flash drive to it you cannot copy from it to the player. Video is very good since that little screen has a resolution of 220x176. Audio is great though the ear buds that come with it don't give you all the ability of the player they are good enough. Though it only supports JPEG images it isn't hard to convert pictures. The volume isn't the easiest to operate with the rubber protector on. EQ options are limitless since you have several presets then a 5 band you can play with. USB and miniSD covers are excellent; they don't come all the way off. Two pretty neat games are included. I haven't looked into it, but I would be surprised if you can't put more games on it. The lithium ion battery lasts a long time even with watching video and looking at pictures, though some may find it cumbersome to have to charge it from a USB port. This is my first mp3 player, but I think unless it breaks it will be my last. I plan to use this as the radio in my hot rod once I have speakers and an amp installed. I'm surprised they are not more popular. The manual is very short, but operation is so intuitive that they only need to include charging instructions (um' plug it in to a USB port, push power for quick charge and wait till blue light stops blinking).

This is a great product for the price. Has a mini-sd card slot to expand memory and you can plug a usb flash drive directly into the player to play the contents of the flash drive. Plays videos nicely with good quality and the included conversion software cuts file size down dramatically. Software even converts dvd files. Good sound quality and volume. Has built in speaker, but best when used with headphones. Has ok fm radio and can record sound from a built in mic as well as a line input. Overall is a great product for the price and functionality.

The Kingston K-PEX gives the SANDISK SANSA E250 a run for the money. Priced competively, the K-PEX 2Gb has a screen size that is comparable to the SANSA E250, but the key differences. The K-PEX has a built in speaker, two pre-loaded games, and uses the Mini-SD Memory Cards which are much cheaper than the Micro-SD Memory Cards. Other than that, the K-PEX is the same as the Sandisk SANSA. We wonder if the Microsoft ZUNE is any better. We hear it has WI-FI built in. It almost makes sense to just buy a Smartphone which does everything above but allows connectivity to the internet, make cell phone calls, IM over the phone, and add bluetooth wireless GPS.
