Kong is captured on Skull Island and taken to New York where he goes on a rampage looking for the lovely screamer Fay Wray. SON OF KONG: In this sequel to King Kong, Kong's exhibitor takes off on a cruise, ends up back on Kong's island, and make friends with the adorable Little Kong. MIGHTY JOE YOUNG: A slick nightclub owner (King Kong veteran Robert Armstrong) discovers the giant ape frolicking in Africa as the beloved pet of a young girl (Terry Moore). He brings both to Hollywood as a floor-show sensation, until some no-goods ply Joe with booze and the blitzed behemoth goes bonkers. Highlights such as Armstrong's henchmen trying to lasso Joe cowpoke style, Joe playing tug-of-war with musclemen and plenty of Joe-to-the-rescue action make Mighty Joe Young mighty fine entertainment. "[Joe] Great escapist fun: a West Coast King Kong" James Sanford, Kalamazoo Gazette "[Son] Engaging, small-scale follow-up with great Steiner score." Ken Hanke, Mountain Xpress (Asheville, NC) "[King] ...a moviegoing must..." Leonard Maltin's Movie & Video Guide
 Editor's Note
Three King Kong movies are gathered together on this collection. KING KONG: A masterpiece and one of the top moneymakers of the 1930s. Fortune-hunters travel to Skull Island in search of the fabled giant ape, "King Kong." Enticing him with the lovely Fay Wray, they capture him and bring him back to New York, where he escapes and ransacks the city searching for her. THE SON OF KONG: A quickie sequel to the tremendously successful KING KONG, this movie was released in the same year as the original movie. One of Kong's captors returns to the island where they discovered him, where he finds a little baby ape who looks set to follow in his father's footsteps. MIGHTY JOE YOUNG: The King Kong legend is kept alive by a little girl who brings back a pet gorilla from Africa. In true Kong tradition, it grows to an enormous size and later terrorizes the city.
