Got this device, loaded the software (CD included) on my Vista 64 bit machine, plugged the unit in, and it worked great with my Garmin GPS 12. No muss, no fuss, no drama.
No searching around for 64 bit drivers. The only thing is to pull up the "Keyspan Serial Assistant" software and note which COM port it has assigned itself to (in my case, COM6).
If you have a Vista 64 bit machine, you can try other brands and models, poke around the web for official manufacturer drivers, beta drivers, or third party drivers. Or you can use this and just get to work Was this review helpful?

We have tried cheaper serial to usb adapters but some worked some didn't depending on what we were using it with. The ones form Keyspan have worked for us. You pay more but they work and buy.com has a competitive price Was this review helpful?

I use this adapter with a Thuraya satellite phone. We had problems with 5 other brands sometimes giving a "blue screen of death" on PCs. Only the Keyspan consistently worked well and caused no problems. I haven't used it with other serial devices. The installation CD doesn't always include Vista drivers, but you can get them on line. The device seems a little bigger than the photos show, but installation is simple. After installing the driver, the configuration applet made the set up of the virtual COM port quick and easy. The tool tips in the applet give helpful explanations and suggestions for all the various settings, but the tool tips must be enabled first on the Help tab.
Once the serial adapter was configured, I plugged it into a Keyspan US-4A USB server that I already had and now the serial console port on my modem is connected through my LAN. The two devices, the serial adapter and USB server, work together flawlessly and provide transparent access to the modem's serial port.
I'm so impressed with the USA-19HS that I just bought another one. Was this review helpful?

KEYSPAN ROCKS, The software that comes with the serial port device allowed me to change from port 5 (which I could't use) to port 2 (which was an open port). The software also allows you to view which serial ports are being used by which devices!!!!!,And then change them!!!!! Again the best serial software out there. Was this review helpful?
