5 of 5 Great headphones Monday, October 27, 2008
A Customer from Brady, Montana

This is the 4'th set I've bought in 2 years. I have 2 puppies and that is why I've bought 4 cause once they get ahold of them, they're gone. I'll never forget the look in my friend's eyes when I put a set on him--then turned on the noise cancelling. As a farmer, I often just wear them with the noise cancelling on and nothing playing cause it is so peaceful even while on combine or tractor.

1 of 5 Don't buy Kensington Sunday, June 22, 2008
brian from san diego
The headphones were okay but the compartment that holds the batteries wouldn't shut again. When I called Kensington they pretend to not understand what I just wrote. They want to ask you question rather than answer your questions.

sound quality and noise cancelation is good but the problem i have is that after alot of use the strap that holds the head phones together breaks and then they're useless

5 of 5 Have owned for 2 years Thursday, February 28, 2008
JR from Nashua, NH
I have owned these for 26 months. They do what they are designed to do. The noise cancelling does produce a noticable white noise. On an air plane, you want this. It is so effective at cancelling the engine noise. They work well with the cancelling off. If the white noise is annoying, you probably are in conditions that don't need it. Mine are getting stressed from heavy use. I tend to be hard on headphone cords and jacks. I plan to buy a new pair soon. For the Buy.com price, these are an excellent deal.

2 of 5 Not the greatest. Tuesday, January 08, 2008
A Customer from Shoreline, WA
These headphones do seem to quiet lower-frequency sounds, but they don't really do much against mid- and higher frequencies. (Note that I've never tried one of the canonical more expensive noise-cancelling headphones, so it's possible that none of them do any better...)

3 of 5 ok for the price Wednesday, January 02, 2008
A Customer from Atlanta, GA
Sound is decent. Noise-cancelling effects are noticeable but not fantastic. The folding design is pretty compact, but overall the headphones feel flimsy and I'm concerned about them breaking. They also aren't very comfortable. For $20 they were probably worth it, but not at the list price.

5 of 5 Great for the price Wednesday, December 19, 2007
Randy from Manhattan, Ks
This is great, bought a second set for a gift. They're easy to use, fold up nice for travel, have good sound for audio/video. They do the job on jet noise at the back by the engines -- I know I've been there 3 times this month -- don't cut out extraneous noise - but that has some good aspects - you can hear the flight attendant ask what measly little drink you can have with your 25 inches of seat/leg room (Europe's gone to 28) Anyway -- the battery that comes with them wears out immediately -- the switch is easy to get pushed to the on position so store the battery outside the set -- they're comfortable -- tried a bunch in stores - good buy

1 of 5 Noise canceling headphones CREATE NOISE! Tuesday, December 18, 2007
AHU from Cincinnati, OH
Don't buy these headphones. With no input, when switched on, they hiss. I complained to Kensington and was sent a 2nd set, but it had the same problem. Save your money; buy someone else's!

1 of 5 Overpriced Junk Saturday, December 15, 2007
A Customer from Superior, Wisconsin
Very unsatisfied with product and would not recommend for anyone - even with the low price at Buy.com. Cheaply made and does not cancel out noise as advertised. Uses batteries to create an amplified "white noise" effect that is irritating and lessens overall sound quality. F-

5 of 5 Great Quality for the price Saturday, December 15, 2007

I use this is mostly in the aircraft. It works great even when I sit on the seat close to the engines. Will recommend it. BTW I got it at a ridiculously low price.

3 of 5 Good but not great Saturday, December 15, 2007
A Customer from Lenoir City, Tennessee
The noise cancellation effectiveness of the headset is good, but quite a bit less than that provided by Bose. If moderate effectiveness is good enough for you, then the Kensington headset will suffice. If you want or need a higher level of effectiveness, you'll need to pay more for the Bose headset.

5 of 5 well worth the price Monday, December 10, 2007
A Customer from Phoenix, AZ
I didn't realize how well these work until I traveled by plane this past weekend, I can't believe how quiet the flight was once I put these headphones on. I've never before used noise-canceling headphones, so don't have a comparison, but I feel these are well worth the $. My ears did get a little sore after a while, but not so much that I had to remove the headphones. I also love that they fold for travel, a carrying bag is included.

1 of 5 Lot of feedback Wednesday, December 05, 2007
A Customer from St. Pete Florida
I bought a set of these and sent them back thinking they were defective. They had white noise feedback all the time, got way worst when the noise cancellation was active. 2nd set did the same thing, not quite as bad. Very displeased with performance, would return for $$ if I could.

5 of 5 worth the money Friday, November 30, 2007

This active noise canceling headphone is just OK compared with its price. The ear cups are too small to seal your ears and make your ears painful for a long term use.

4 of 5 You get what you pay for Friday, November 30, 2007
A Customer from Milwaukee, WI
These headphones don't cancel noise as well as Bose and similar, but you get what you pay for, right? I just took them on a flight, and at first I thought they were just making the music louder so I didn't notice the engine noise as much. However, I wore them for a while without playing music, and when I took them off, I was surprised to hear how much louder the engines were. So there is some noise canceling going on. I'm going to use these for shorter flights, since I don't have to cry over hundreds of dollars if they get damaged. If I fly to Europe, I'll borrow my brother in law's Bose headphones. One design issue is that strap that goes across your head. It's a little uncomfortable to have it pushing on your head, and it ensures that you will have hat hair. But for that price, overall I'm happy with my purchase.

1 of 5 Didn't work Friday, November 30, 2007
Chuck from Anaheim Hills, CA
After reading the reviews I was eager to get mine. They didn't work...zero noise reduction when I flipped the switch. Kensington support (apparently in India as I could barely understand her) kept asking me if I had installed the software to my computer. I explained that there was no software to install and got put on hold while they looked for an answer. When she returned she asked me again if I had installed the software. This happened several times. I finally hung up.

Called back and spoke with someone else who was more helpful & somewhat more understandable. They're sending a replacement set, I'll update when those arrive

2 of 5 Mediocre Performance Friday, November 30, 2007
Dennis from Christiansburg, VA
I bought these headphones to reduce the noise I'm exposed to in my shop, not for use on an airplane. I'm quite disappointed in their performance. Very low frequency noise is virtually eliminated, but higher frequency noise seems unaffected at all. As a result, they do not provide me with any value at all. I'm giving them to my brother, who travels more frequently than I. Hopefully, they'll work better in reducing airplane noise than they do in shop noise!

3 of 5 Iffy, but cheap Friday, November 30, 2007
A Customer from Rochester, NY
My wife has a set of Sennheiser PXC250 noise-canceling headphones she loves, and I thought I'd give these a shot when they were on sale, given the price. They are decent headphones, but the noise-canceling function is of limited usefulness compared to the more expensive (4x after the discount) Sennheiser model. Perhaps they are going to work better with continuous, constant noise (e.g. in an airplane), but in terms of, say, covering the muffled noise of a TV on in the next room while you are trying to work, they are close to worthless (maybe 30-50% reduction). On the plus side, they are inexpensive.

3 of 5 Good and cheap Friday, November 30, 2007
A Customer from Taylorsvill, MD
These headphones are worth the money...but no more. They are inexpensive and look and feel that way. Others have commented that they compare to the better noise cancelling headphones on the market. THEY DO NOT. You get what you pay for. I have a these and a more expensive set and the better headphones beat these hands down, in every catagory.

4 of 5 Economy headset that works well. Thursday, November 29, 2007
rmayhue from Crescent City Ca.
I bought these just for the purpose of flying on these little puddle jump planes that are so loud. I was very impressed how much they dammpend the noise. And the sound quality was decent also. If your looking for economy and value these are the ones.

5 of 5 Why buy Bose Thursday, November 29, 2007
mitch from new york, ny
ok, Kensington is not Bose... but the sound quality is terrific. i bought them for our kids to use on the portable DVD player on long trips. we just used them. the kids loved them -- sound quality was sharp, clear with little interference. only slight negative is the on-off switch for these battery-operated headphones.. it's a bit tricky to find. other than that, the headphones not only work well, but fold very easily into a little pouch included in the package. overall quite pleased.

3 of 5 You get what you pay for Thursday, November 29, 2007
Dan from Boulder, CO
For thirty bucks you get what you pay for. These are a decent pair of headphones but certainly do not compete with Bose or more expensive noise cancelling headphones. The battery compartment does not hold the battery very well and the 'on indicator' light does not work consistently. Decent sound quality but does only a fair job of cancelling ambient background noise.

A Customer from Vail Co
I haven't gotten to test the noise cancelling on an airplane yet, but they certainly block out the traffic noise that used to make it impossible for me to listen to my audio books while I walked. They are very comfortable and the price was fantastic.

4 of 5 Cheap and portable, cancels some noise, poor EQ Thursday, November 29, 2007
Matt from Gainesville, FL
They're cheap (monetarily), well constructed, portable, and do what they describe: cancel consistent noise. This makes them great for airplanes... and buses.. and anything else that has a consistent background noise. Don't expect high quality isolation headphones, though; they can't cancel voices or a TV or anything. Also, the EQ is really poor; the treble is really weak. The sound is muddy. You can make it a little better with EQ on your music player, but overall the EQ is the biggest downside. Otherwise it does what it promises.

4 of 5 Good Deal, Warm on the ears Thursday, November 29, 2007
joe furbee from raleigh, nc
This is the first set of noise cancelling headphones, so I don't have anything to which to compare them. The price was right (I got a rebate in addition the sale). I haven't tried them on an airplane yet, which would be a true test, but my kids wore them in the car watching DVDs on a long trip. They couldn't hear us when we said their names, so I guess they work well. Only complaint is that they tend to make your ears warm after a while.

4 of 5 Good headphone for the money Thursday, November 29, 2007
Brent from Newton, NC
You can't beat the value for the dollar on these headphones. The noise canceling is pretty effective and makes any length flight more enjoyable for me. When you switch the noise canceling on you don't hear complete silence but the drone of the engines and a lot of background noise is reduced considerably. For this reason alone these headphones are worth the money. I have not even plugged them into my an mp3 player to hear the sound quality of music played through these headphone.

5 of 5 Great Headphones Thursday, November 29, 2007
Ajith Joseph from Chicago, IL
These headphones are amazingly good, Its a good fit, blocks out noise effectively and if you are listening to music, then you feel like you are effectively in a soundproof room. The sound quality while listening to music and watching movies is good. Inclusion of an airline adapter is very thoughtful and very good in the price. Has its own carry pouch which helps keep it free of scratches and stuff. It had a foldable design and therefore very easily stacks into my backpack bag. I use it daily on my trips on public transport and would highly recommend it.

1 of 5 Marginal, if any, noise canceling effects Thursday, November 29, 2007
Erik from San Diego, CA
I guess the old adage "You get what you pay for" still holds true. I decided I'd give these noise canceling headphones a try for $29. Well, what I got was a pair of decent head phones, but almost no noise canceling effect whatsoever. My advice to anyone considering these is to spend the extra money and get ones that work. Note: My entire evaluation is for use in a cubical environment. They may or may not work to cancel out airline engine noise (I haven't tried them there). What I can say is they don't cancel noise at the office.

4 of 5 O.K. Headphones with Noise Cancelling Wednesday, November 28, 2007
Joe M. from Kemah, Texas
Very average sounding headphones. Muddy lows and lost highs are the main draw backs. The noise cancelling feature boosts the volumn which was a surprise, but they actually do work pretty good. The fit and finish is very good though. With a little tweeking on my mp3 Player I can get better sound out of these cans. For the money, they are O.k.

5 of 5 Does its work Tuesday, November 20, 2007

It did work for the annoying motor noise. But occasionally there maybe some strange noise from the headphone. Not a big issue over all. Foldable is a big advantage for travellers.

4 of 5 Works pretty well Monday, November 19, 2007
Pat from Lake Hopatcong, NJ
The noise canceling is okay; they're not in the same class as the Bose. Audible hiss when canceling is on in quiet surroundings, but you can't hear that in a car or on an airplane. You may need to fuss with their positioning to get the best performance on mid-to-higher frequencies. One note: the airplane adapter worked fine on a 747 and older Airbus, but was too big for the recessed jack on a new Airbus A340.

1 of 5 awful Friday, November 09, 2007
Jim from Austin, TX
I have no idea how people are giving this product a positive review. The noise canceling is a joke, completely void. The construction of the head phones are cheap. There is nothing desirable about this product, which is surprising due to the good name brand.

2 of 5 What noise canceling?!? Wednesday, November 07, 2007
A Customer from San Diego, CA
I've had these headphones for a week now and to be honest, I can't perceive any noise canceling effect at all. The only thing the switch on the side seems to do is amplify the speakers. As regular headphones, they're fine, but I bought them primarily to provide a quiet environment at my office and they don't do that at all. I kind of figured they wouldn't be great for $20 (with rebate) but figured I'd take a chance. Bottom line: They don't cancel office noise.

2 of 5 not happy with these Monday, November 05, 2007
daniel from huntsville, al
I am honestly surprised that I seem to be in the minority of people who were left disappointed by these headphones. I'm not a stickler for perfection. I don't write hardly any reviews, but I felt my voice needed to be heard considering I bought them based on the overwhelming positive rating.
Noise Canceling: The main reason I bought these was for work. It does not drown out even background conversations at all. It does a very good job at blocking out something like an air conditioner. That effect amplifies voices to me and makes it more difficult to work. I can see why someone would want these for an airplane or subway. But, not for me.
Sound: I didn't buy these for the sound quality, but figured I'd keep them since it does block out road noise and may come in handy if I want to listen to my IPOD. BUT wait. The sound quality is beyond awful for music. If you're watching a movie, you may not care. For music, wow.
I can find no reason to keep them. You will find them on ebay soon.

5 of 5 perfect Tuesday, October 30, 2007
A Customer from mentor, ohio
First I never experienced the pinching of the head that some other reviewers have noted. I found them comfortable and have worn them for a few hours at a time with no discomfort. I would like to think I have a normal sized head so unless you are a big headed person they should be fine. They work very well. I found the sound quality to be great but I am not a huge audiophile. Perfect for a redeye flight home from vegas. They do not drown out screaming kids though. lol

5 of 5 Good Headphone, Great Price Monday, October 29, 2007
A Customer from Morristown, NJ
These headphones are a great deal for the price as others have mentioned. Comfortable and work as described. Work as described means cancel low-frequency noises not all noise (although do muffle like any decent headphone). Also wanted to address concerns of "buzzing". They are battery powered and amplify along with creating the 'inverse sound wave'. This can create a chirp/buzz in between tracks or songs or no input at all. Experienced zero problem when music going. Happy to have them on train, while cutting grass, leaf blowing, etc....

These headphones are an amazing deal. Sure they aren't as amazing as the QC2 by BOSE but wow. The bass on these things are much better than i anticipated. The nose canceling works well. Very comfortable for extended wear. I recommend these to any and all. Very very good product. Oh and I got them 2 days after i ordered with the 7-10 day free shipping option. Love buy.com and i love these headphones. BUY THEM!

4 of 5 Been using these babies for over a year now... Thursday, October 25, 2007
A Customer from Upland, CA
Paid about $35.00 back then, and remember thinking the world of these. I fly a lot, so they're constantly in and out of my bag. After about a year, the banding that sits against your head fell off. Then, the noise-cancelling switch shifted to where it can't be switched off. When I opened it up to try to repair the switch, found the that one of the disc capacitor components had broken in half. It still works as good as it did when I bought it, so I decided to use it till I had to replace it. Since the band broke off, it no longer messes up my hair in-flight. To get around the switch issue, I just remove the battery when not in use. And since the capacitor doesn't seem to affect the sound quality in noise-cancelling mode, I never think about it. To this day, I still enjoy using it and will probably purchase another one because of it's great value.

A Customer from new york
for the price it's great ,but if you look for performance it's just ok...i wanted bether and i replace them...now i'm just gonna give it to someone as a gift. The problem is that i tried bether ones and there was a hudge difference in the noice cancelation and quality of sound...and once you know bether you can't switch to worst (and it was not just a little difference...you could hear the difference very easily)...but for the price you pay here ...that's what you get

5 of 5 Best "Bang for the Buck" Thursday, October 25, 2007
PFink from New Fairfield, CT
I've had these headphones for a few years and a half dozen plane trips. They do a terrific job of silencing background noise while delivering good quality sound. I've owned and returned other "high end" "in-ear" sound cancelling headphones that didn't seem to make a difference. Frankly, I think they compare nicely to the "famous", but very expensive brand.

4 of 5 Cheap stuff cheaper quality Wednesday, October 24, 2007

Pro: cheap, does noise canceling. con: Noise canceling is okay. Sound quality is not like even $30 Seinheiser head phone. Looks and feels cheap.

4 of 5 Noise Cancelling Headphones Monday, October 08, 2007
Rama B from Plano, TX
I have another Cheapo Noise cancelling headphone (Panasonic - that I bought about 5 years ago). The performance on that was slightly better. I bought this because the previous one broke. The battery life on this one for noise cancelling is very short despite shutting it off. It is not too bad.

4 of 5 Good headphone Friday, October 05, 2007
Sushil from Sacramento, CA
This is a good noise cancelling headphone. The only beef I have with it is the battery cover does not close very well when there's a battery inside. I had to use a sticky tape to keep the door shut. Otherwise it works very well. I have taken it on many of my business trips and it cuts down the airplane engine sound to my satisfaction

3 of 5 Nice, but doesn't fit all planes' jacks Wednesday, October 03, 2007
Pat from Lake Hopatcong, NJ
Overall, the noise cancellation is very good, and could get a 5 if it didn't add some hiss to the background when on (which you can't hear on a jet, anyway). Unfortunately, the two-prong airplane adapter doesn't fit all headphone jacks on all planes (our Lufthansa Airbus 330 had a recessed jack, and the Kensington adapter didn't fit into it. Doesn't use much power, as the cheap non-alkaline battery that came with it lasted for over 10 hours.
