5 of 5 Can't go back to a regular mouse now! Wednesday, February 18, 2009
Joe from Oak Lawn, IL

I had a hard time justifying this cost for a 'mouse', but the scrolling feature alone makes it an absolute joy. It was recommended to me and now I am dependent on it.

This is my second trackball from Kensington in over 10 years. The first one still works. Great product and ease of use.

5 of 5 A Trackball Prince Among Input Devices Thursday, January 08, 2009
Shawn G. from Jacksonville, Florida
These are easily the very best input devices I have used. Now, I realize that not everyone likes trackballs and the fact is that most people still prefer the mouse as their input device of choice. However, in my personal experience I have found that the trackball, and this trackball in particular, is more efficient, more comfortable, and requires a whole lot less space in which to operate. It also requires less care and feeding and is somewhat better in regards to carpal tunnel issues. My girlfriend switched to this trackball after she tried mine. Prior to that, she absolutely hated trackballs. I told her that she just hadn't met the right one yet. The name "Expert Mouse" is a bit of a misnomer although it may have been somebody's inside joke at the company. Obviously, it is a trackball but what sets it apart from most others is that it is a large diameter ball in a large and comfortable housing. It also comes with a wrist rest that is soft and makes the unit even more ergonomic. The ball is heavy (in relation to other styles of trackballs) and therefore has a very smooth feel to it when in use. It feels very professional and makes for more efficient maneuvering on the desktop or software interface of choice. It also has a ring that surrounds the ball which serves as a scroll wheel. In addition, it also features four click buttons which are programmable using the supplied software or if your built in input device parameters have such a provision. Overall, this is the best bang for the buck in the domain of trackballs.

5 of 5 Love Kensington Saturday, December 27, 2008

Love Kensington products, as they WORK. This trackball replaced a MacAlly Qball, whose drivers no longer worked on OSX 10.5

5 of 5 The best to date! Tuesday, October 28, 2008
Brian Krisko from Portsmouth, NH
This is my third Kensington Turbo Ball and it's by far the best. Don't get me wrong... They have all been outstanding performers! But this new optical version tops them all. Nothing to clean!!!! Once you try one you'll never go back to a mouse.

5 of 5 Smooth, precise, and oh so customizable trackball! Tuesday, October 28, 2008
A Customer from Bountiful, UT
This is the third trackball I have owned in the last six years and it is a really great product! It has been my mainstay since having to replace my previous Kensington Expert Mouse Pro WIRELESS Trackball (64245) and is every bit as functional with one exception: this one can be used with Windows Vista. The large ball is a huge plus especially due to limited dexterity and grip function in my hands and the ability to customize this device for either hand is extremely useful as I actually use both hands for ambidextrous variability. Two thumbs up with the ease of installation and customizable features. Being able to customize the buttons to perform executable programs and a variety of task commands is a huge plus in desktop efficiency and control management and in reality makes many multi-task projects faster and easier. The "Award-winning Scroll Ring" is a very nice enhancement and is very easy to manipulate. This trackball allows complete, consistent, and very precise function directly (and I mean that literally) from your fingertips. Truly an excellent product. Previous model wireless function or Bluetooth options would be the only addition I would love to see.

5 of 5 No better trackball for the money Sunday, October 12, 2008
Torleiv Flatebo from Minneapolis, MN
I have had the Kensington expert trackball (four of them) in the last 8 years. The only reason I have had so many is because of changing jobs, and having one at home. <P> Over these four, the build quality has remained excellent, and after two+ years on each unit, the only wear that is noticeable is the paint coming off of the buttons, but it doesn't affect its function. <p> I cannot use a regular mouse for even a few hours, but the expert trackball gives me no problems after many hours of constant use.

5 of 5 Easy to and Comfortable. Tuesday, September 16, 2008
Scott from La Habra California
As a musician with CTS (carpal tunnel Syndrome), The Kensington Expert Mouse (optical Trackball) is just what the Doctor ordered (so to speak). This is a great product. Don't just take my word for it, see for yourself...I can spend more time on the computer without feeling the pain in my fingers, wrist or forearm

4 of 5 Comfortable for heavy mouse use Thursday, September 04, 2008
Rebecca Brace from Dunnellon, FL
I "downgraded" from the discontinued Microsoft Trackball Explorer after my son broke my scroll wheel, but after a couple days of getting used to the 4-corner buttons and rotating scroll, I actually think the mouse responds better and has more tweak-able features. It does take some getting used to, but is worth it. I draw and use the mouse over 10 hours a day, so the trackball feature is very important for heavy usage to limit hand/arm movement. I purchased another 2 weeks later, and price was not an issue. If you are not a long-time trackball mouse user, you won't be easily converted.

3 of 5 Another trackball Monday, April 28, 2008
A Customer from Medford,OR
This device works as advertised but seems to have no special features that warrant the price. The software is very basic. I would expect the device or the software to out perform something similar like Logitec for example because of the price difference. We purchased 3 of them for our office. Looking back on it (over 8 months now), it seems like a waste of money. I have used multiple trackballs from several brands.

5 of 5 Windows VISTA compatible Tuesday, April 22, 2008
trevence from Dallas, Texas
I have been using Kensington Expert Mouse for many years. Nothing can beat it. It'd be nice if they come out with a bluetooth version. For those who don't think it's VISTA compatible you are incorrect. Just install the latest mouseworks driver and do your windows vista updates and it will install a fix to make it VISTA compatible.

5 of 5 How did I LIVE without this?! too!! Monday, April 14, 2008
ONE HAPPY KENSINGTON CAMPER!! from Portland, OR
Not only a carpal tunnel pain eraser (for me, at least) but one of the handiest implementations of a mouse or trackball EVAH!! I even got one whose scroll-ring stopped working after a month and Kensington IMMEDIATELY shipped me a replacement!! A minor glitch in being able to re-program the 4 buttons in specific applications, but even that is being worked on (OSX 10.5, works fine on OSX 10.4 and the program changes can be saved in 10.4 and used in 10.5). Not worth lowering any of the ratings below 5, believe me. Call me...

.skot from Wichita, KS
This is the coolest thing since...........well, since something REALLY cool! Seriously, I have used Kensington products for years but this is by far the most useful tool I've purchased for my computer.....maybe ever. Having the four buttons that can be assigned to either launch apps, launch url's, or perform complex key commands is absolutely priceless. I work as a recording engineer and my work flow has improved beyond words. I can't recommend this trackball strongly enough!

5 of 5 The best trackball Tuesday, February 19, 2008
m20120 from Centreville, VA
I have been using the Kensington Expert Mouse trackballs for over 10 years (starting with the V4.0) and this is the best one. It is very smooth and gives me precise control. This trackball is a big improvement over the older mechanical ones. The only problem that I have with my V4 and V5 trackballs is the eventual buildup of gunk and trackball lint that ends up blocking the mechanical/optical encoders in the trackball. Another benefit: I am one of those people that always has a messy desktop and it makes finding room to move a mouse around a problem. Uising a trackball solves that!

5 of 5 Smooth as glass Saturday, January 26, 2008
shedemon from Massachusetts
Best things about this product: 1. No moving parts other than the scroll ring 2. Easy to clean - just lift out the ball 3. Smoothest operation of any trackball, high resolution due to large size of the ball 4. Reduces arm/hand/shoulder stress 5. Doesn't need a mousepad - so it takes up only 4"x4" of desk space 6. Amazing warranty - Kensington has sent me replacements for every product I've ever bought ... and yes you *can* game with this.

A Customer from Washington, DC
I have had a Kensington track ball since 1996. They work well and last a long time. This one replaces a unit that was over 10 years old. I'm pleased with their enhancements. I'm also pleased witht the speed of delivery from Buy.com.

5 of 5 Kensington Trackball Mouse 7.0 Wednesday, December 05, 2007
A Customer from Tracy, CA
Great Trackball, I used a kensington trackball long time ago before optical mouse. Then ball bearing would have to be cleaned and there were a lot mechanical parts. Well this one is great. I'm more efficient now in doing my work. Works great with Autocad especially with the scroll wheel. Buy one you won't regret it.

5 of 5 The Only Way To Mouse Sunday, December 02, 2007
A Customer from Everett,WA
I was looking for a replacement for my wireless MightyMouse used with my MacBookPro. I use the Mac as a CPU at home with a wireless keyboard, mouse and seperate Monitor. The tiny scroll ball on MightyMouse was becoming unreliable. As much as I liked the bluetooth mobility it was still a mouse that need a lot of desk space to drag objects from one side of the screen to the other. I'd owned an earlier version of the Expert Mouse when I had a PC and loved it. So I was happy to find this on that worked with Macs and well as PC's. Setup was easy. I had to do it twice because my Mac is set up as a PC too. Works great! And I love the attached pad at the bottom (not shown in the Product Image) that keeps the butt of my hand off the desktop. The ball is very responsive. The scroll wheel works well, I'm still getting used to remembering where it is but I like it. Yes, it has a USB cable I have to unplug to move things but I general unplug everything If I'm going mobile and just take the laptap by itself. So not much of a compromise and I don't have to change batteries like I did with the Bluetooth mouse.

2 of 5 Not for Windows Vista! Wednesday, November 28, 2007
A Customer from Davidsville, PA
I bought the trackball to "upgrade" from an older model. However, the software & drivers do not work if you're running Vista. So you can't set any special functions for the extra buttons.

4 of 5 Great Trackball Friday, November 16, 2007
SLmanDR from Palm Bay, FL
Use it for gaming! The scroll wheel, ball and extra buttons are a boost to your performance. Try it while racing a Hog in Halo. You'll be hooked. Oh yea, it's a real productivity enhancer in the document review department too. I feel like it could use a harder ball for more free spinning.

5 of 5 Best Kensington Mouse Yet Friday, September 28, 2007
Lori from Simi Valley, Ca.
I have been using an Expert Mouse since the early '90s. I recently had to replace my old one (gave me good service for over 10 years). The price has not changed since then, still around $100. The new one is optical which is easier to clean. The scroll bar is great (circle around the ball), but I accidentally use it many times. This scroll, however, is an improvement over the old way of scrolling (pushing left and right buttons at the same time).

4 of 5 kid_dragon Friday, August 24, 2007
A Customer from st louis, mo
like all the other reviews... this trackball is great. if you still use win xp this is the ultimate pointing device. awesome for general use, awesome for games, awesome for graphic applications. if you are using vista, all the bells and whistles of this trackball is gone. the company won't make a new configuration software for the trackball and with out "mouse works" the trackball is just so, so. one of the best features of this trackball is the ability to remap the 4 buttons to use how you want to use them. the other is the ability to accelerate and slow down the pointer movements for quick and precise pointer movement. with out mouse works these abilities are gone.

3 of 5 Good Hardware Tuesday, August 14, 2007
vladimir840 from Chandler, AZ
This is one of the best designed trackballs that I have ever used. Well designed, optical reading and performs like a champ! Unfortunately, Kensington states that the MouseWorks software is incompatible with Vista, which makes this a two button trackball in Vista.

5 of 5 Attention CAD Draftsman! Monday, May 14, 2007
A Customer from Andover, NJ
This is the BEST product on the market. If you are a CAD draftsman and you don't use a trackball, you are an incompetent twit! This is the best trackball on the market. BUY THIS trackball and your productivity and accuracy will increase! Or keep using that worthless mouse and hitting undo everytime you miss when the mouse moves with your click motion.

5 of 5 5 Star Track Ball Tuesday, December 26, 2006
A Customer from Ivyland, PA
The Kensington Expert Mouse 7.0 Optical Trackball - 64325 remains the trackball by which all other trackballs are judged. Most people either love or hate trackballs. For those who love them, this is the one to buy. The Expert Mouse 7.0 now comes with a snap-on pad to cushion the user's wrist. I have always used a similar homemade pad to avoid possible wrist problems. I have been using Kensington trackballs for over 20 years. This is the best yet. I use a Mac, and the Kensington Control Panel is a snap to use, allowing the user to set the trackball's 4 buttons to individually, and jointly, perform a wide variety of functions. The ring that goes around the trackball allows the user to scroll up and down, another nice feature. I ordered this trackball a few days before Christmas and was surprised to receive it within about 48 hours with normal shipping. (Way to go Buy.com!) Kensington stands behind their products and is consumer friendly.

5 of 5 Trackball Monday, October 16, 2006
A Customer from Los Osos, Ca
I've been using these trackballs for years and do not use anything else throughout out organization. They last (typical mouse is gone in 6 months), they don't cramp your hands (hold a mouse all day), and the new 'wheel' around the ball is fantastic for scrolling (vs those useless mouse wheels).

5 of 5 Expert Mouse Lives Up to Expectations Monday, October 09, 2006
Gloria from Eugene, Oregon
The Kensington Expert Mouse 7.0 Optical Trackball works pretty much as I expected it to. I used a Kensington TurboBall Trackball for six years, so I learned to expect smooth and precise operation. On the old TurboBall the buttons were angled up toward the ball, almost vertical, and very easy to use. The buttons on the Expert Mouse are relatively parallel to the keyboard shelf, which took some getting used to because it requires a different hand motion. Still I think it will be a good tradeoff because I've already learned to use the scrolling ring (I never used the scrolling wheel on the older model). The wrist-saving pad is a welcome addition too. I do think the Expert Mouse is overpriced, but I don't want to take a chance on a different brand. I just hope it lasts as long as the old one. Overall, a fine product!

5 of 5 Great ease of navigation Thursday, May 18, 2006
excalibur7 from Simi Valley, CA
After starting to develop painful tendonitis from my index finger knuckle up through my forearm as a result of index finger button clicking, I decided there had to be a better way. I purchased an inexpensive trackball for home and I experienced some pain improvement. However since 90% of my computer use was at work I contacted my company for a possible change to a trackball. They obtained for me the Kensington Expert 7.0. Yes, it's value was four times what my home trackball cost, but holy cow, it was ten times as good. Smooth, comfortable, intuitive, and that scroll ring is the greatest thing since sliced bread! In summary, not only did my tendonitis dissappear completly after the first month of use, but it's better and more efficient than any regular mouse I've ever used.

4 of 5 If you love track balls Monday, February 20, 2006
Justin; Artistman75 from Kailua, Hawaii
I have always liked track balls... A couple yrs ago I tried a wirelss optical mouse, and I hated it so I switched back to the track ball. I've owned this track ball for about two year now and it is great. I like the all of personal settings available and the fact that it is a trackball and I don't have to move my hand all over the table to get from one place to another is fabulous. The only downfall I have found is that it collects dirt in the small bearings under the trackball. So I have to pull them out and clean it. If you do this... Do NOT drop them, b/c they are very difficult to find being very small and red. If anyone knows a better way, let me know!

5 of 5 A Must Have Thursday, November 10, 2005
garyc from Fennimore, WI
When I first opened the box for my new trackball I thought wow this is a lot lighter than the old ones. So maybe not the quality. Well I was badley mistaken. It is the best I have ever used. It is so positive the way it works. I haven't had to crush any dirt specks in it at all. I would recomend this trackball highly.

5 of 5 Great trackball Wednesday, March 30, 2005
A Customer from Seattle, WA
This is a great trackball. The action is even better than the original Expert Mouse which was already a great trackball. The scroll ring is great too. The buttons are about the same as the original Expert Mouse. The wire connection is fixed to the unit which is a good thing. The original Expert mouse had a removable cable which had a tendency to wear out after a few years. Highly recommended.

5 of 5 Awesome Expert Mouse 7.0 Optical Trackball Tuesday, March 01, 2005
Darrell from Meridian, Mississippi
They said it was better than my 6 year old expert mouse. I really questioned if that were possible. I love my new Expert Mouse 7.0 Optical Trackball. This thing is the smoothest I have ever used. The SCROLL RING is a wonderful addition. The scroll ring is just a slight bit edgy. Nothing serious but just a tad bit annoying when the huge ball moves the pointer almost effortlessly across your monitor. If my old Expert Mouse ever wears out this will be my choice for a replacement.
