5 of 5 Awesome Product Sunday, December 21, 2008
Fender from Federal Way, WA

I have been trying for months to capture our old camcorder videos to share with my family. The camcorder only has a yellow black component out and all of the software programs I tried errored out. The software installed in minutes and I used my Roxio software to capture the video. I connected my own yellow black cable to the USB cable and it worked like a charm the first time. Over all the product exceeded my expectations. I gave it a 4 for ease of use because the quick start guide was the only documentation in the box. The other manual is on the Install DVD and you have to look for it.

4 of 5 DVR Transfers Tuesday, September 23, 2008
A Customer from Eden Prairie, MN
The KWorld Xpert DVD Maker USB 2.0 helped me tranfer all of the movies from my DVR onto my computer. It was a slow process due to the fact that the computer records in real time, but I cleaned out the DVR. The only draw back is that it asked to register the software at least 20 times (despite indicating that it had been done successfully).

5 of 5 Simple to install and it works! Sunday, February 17, 2008
Gloria from Chicago, IL
I have been a long time user of Dazzle. Loved the Dazzle, hated all the problems with the drivers being knocked out, etc. The KWorld USB DVD Maker USB 2.0 is not only simple to install, it works perfectly with no hazzle and with simplicity. Price wise it is the greatest deal around. Would recommend this product for anyone interested in simple, clean, install and process.

3 of 5 Finally got it to work. Wednesday, January 16, 2008
A Customer from Fort Worth, Texas
I bought this package to convert my old family movie video tapes to DVD and was not able to get it to work on my laptop after all the updates and configuration changes that support said I needed. I loaded it on my older desktop and it worked the first time. There was absolutely no documentation on how to hook it up to your computer and no documentation on the software. I was told by support that this package contains a lite version of Cyberlink Producer and Director software and that I should go to their website and download the documentation of the full version if I wanted to have a manual.

4 of 5 Great and easy! Saturday, November 10, 2007
MyKel from Canon city, Colorado
I think this product is very good for the price, i would recommend using the editing software that comes with it. Because the video is way better just make sure to adjust incoming volume, Windows movie maker works great too but its a little laggy after you get the video captured, install was probably 3 minutes thats it. The only thing i have against this is that the editing software is awsome but curtain features are not available with it you have to buy(download) the other features which is why i gave a 4 out of 5, Nothing you really need unless you wanna get REALLY creative with editing.

4 of 5 DVD Maker made for Dummy!!! heheheheheheheh.....^^ Thursday, November 01, 2007
A Customer from Bellingham
I'm surprised to say, this economic choice of DVD Maker, not only works, but works insanely well. The cyberlink software that is bundled with it turns out quite well. I've made a few DVDs out of my VHS but the resolution isn't that good, but I guess the old video formats have it's limitations.

5 of 5 nice little gadget Wednesday, July 11, 2007
timliao from Urbana, IL
Easy to use for converting analogue video to digital. Tech support was responsive when initially converted file had no sound because of incorrect setting in Windows volume control setting. I haven't tried longer segments so that I can't comment of the out of sync problem one reviewer noted. Overall, good experience.

5 of 5 Converts VHS to DVD Thursday, April 12, 2007
A Customer from Hazleton, PA
Bought it to convert VHS home movies to DVD. The software that comes with it is easy to use and offers many possibilities, such as recording from live TV to the PC. Well worth the price.

1 of 5 Waste of money.Horrible product! Monday, April 02, 2007
A Customer from NY,USA
This is one of the worst equipment I ever purchased! They even ripped me off of the rebate! they NEVER sent me the rebate, ended up I paid full price for this junk! The product was not worth even $1.00 and the software is so difficult to use and install. The actual hardware is very difficult to get my PC to recognize and it was a complete WASTE of my time and money. Please AVOID!!!!!!!

5 of 5 Cheap solution to converting videos or recording T Saturday, October 21, 2006
A Customer from Lowell, MA
Very easy to hook up. I put a splitter on my cable line, ran that to an old VCR which I placed near my PC, and then used the USB device to bring the signal into my PC. The picture quality is excellent and stable.

I didn't realize it when I bought it, but only the video comes in over USB. The audio is split off to a seperate cable which you place into your line in. I wasn't using my line in on my sound card, so it wasn't a big deal.

I've recorded a few old videos and a few TV shows with no problems.

The software isn't perfect, but simple to use. The software does come with a programmable VCR of sorts, which is kind of nice. I ran into some bugs, so you'll need to download the patches to get everything working.

The DVD software that came with it was also nice. It hung the first time I used it, but I only had that problem once.

I was playing around with the idea of buying an All in Wonder card, but have found the USB DVD Maker to be a cheap alternative.

5 of 5 This is It! Monday, April 10, 2006
Ken Lizotte from Bristol, Vermont
For the analog home user, this is the hardware interface with ease-of-use and high resolution capture, plus an advantage that other apps have only recently caught up to: mpeg-2 capture! The hardware interface is easy to install and easy to connect any a wide variety of devices, like VCRs and camcorders, even in stereo. It was even the first entusiast app that allowed capture to fit to DVD -- up to 180 mins on one standard 4.7 Gig disc. But be prepared; the PowerProducer bundled software is mediocre, at best. Buy something else to do your editing, menu building, and burning.

5 of 5 Excellent video capture/encoding solution for the Tuesday, February 21, 2006
Video neophyte from Illinois
Perhaps my expectation level was low or perhaps it was the fact that this is my first 'real video capture device', but this device fits my needs perfectly. I wanted to transfer my VHS collection to DVD and/or MPEG-4 format and I wanted to use my laptop for my PVR needs - the KWorld DVD maker USB 2.0 fits the bill perfectly. I was able to capture my first video (a television broadcast) within 5 minutes of opening the package. The capture s/w interface is quite basic but serves the purpose admirably with options to capture in AVI, VCD, SVCD, DVD and MPEG-4 formats. I haven't bothered to try the editing s/w but I've Pinnacle 8.0 for that. Also, the DVD quality capture wasn't of the highest quality (with visible artifacts - perhaps to be expected with real-time single pass encoding). The video/audio in jacks are both female! Perhaps I'm missing something but I had to find additional male cables to connect my cable box to the DVD maker. Finally, for those of you complaining about poor video quality, try increasing the bitrate (and ensuring you have a BIG hard drive!) or capturing @ 640 x 480 (use the setup menu). In short, a very good basic video capture device that can convert your laptop into a PVR (and DVD maker!) and it's a bargain at $41. Pros: Price, ease of use, various encoding options Cons: Audio/Video jacks, MPEG-2 encoding is only adequate

5 of 5 pleasantly surprised Saturday, October 01, 2005
A Customer from Connecticut, USA
I carefully followed the instructions to update my USB2 driver, plugged in the unit, and loaded the software. Everything worked fine. The quality was higher than I had hoped for. I have found it best to capture uncompressed avi and then compress using the convert to mpeg option. The DVD mpegs produced were high quality. I tested some other capture software (Virtualdub, moviemaker2, and videomaker) but the supplied software is fine. a good buy.

2 of 5 Don't waist your mony on this unit Tuesday, September 06, 2005
A Customer from Pittsburgh
Prior to this unit I used a PCI Tuner card and hooked up my camcorder to it which worked fine and I used a few different DVD maker softwarewhich was somewhat painful. This unit came with sofware that is somewhat easy to use but the quality of the DVDs are poor and the recording software can not catch up with the frames, therefore, the video is jumpy and it seems like it skips frames. I tried all kinds of things and finaly realozed that my $20 TV Tuner card did a much better job that the KWorld USB DVD Maker USB 2.0 - KW-USB2800D. Do yourself a favor and buy a TV tuner card with input/output.

4 of 5 Works Great Saturday, August 13, 2005
sshah from nj
Very good value for money. Installation was a little confusing. I had to install the software twice. Bundled software (PVR Plus) is not intuitive or very user friedly. The hardware works great and that is all I care about

5 of 5 It works! Thursday, August 11, 2005
DFan from California
Just converted a VHS tape to DVD. The DVD producer software is pretty easy to use. You can select the video quality (SP, LP, SLP). Since VHS tape quality is not high, I just use the LP mode which creates 120 mins video on DVD. I have a Celeron D 2.4Ghz, 756MB RAM, running XP. The CPU usage was at 93% during recording. I have not tried the PVR software yet. For VHS->DVD conversion, it works great.

4 of 5 Works great for computer video Sunday, July 17, 2005
Stefan from minnesota
I bought this device in hopes of converting Video tape to VCD. It performes as described, but my expectations were higher. This video is grainy no matter which format I chose. But I would use this device for creating video that would be displayed on PC's anytime but not for watching on TV screens. I have AMD Athalon 2400 1gb ram 160 MHD.

4 of 5 Great Hardware - So So Software Wednesday, May 11, 2005
trmaine from Muncie, IN
The USB capturing hardware works flawless, but I have a problem with the PVR Plus software. The longer the capture the further out of sync the audio and video get. This product also come with Power Producer 2 Gold which works great and with no sync problems. I would have rated this product a 5 if PVR Plus was omited or at least included better instuctions for setting it up. I just may have it set up wrong.
