Prepare to have your expectations dashed as you enter the world of JOHNNY CASH REMIXED. For this project, a host of contemporary producers and mixmasters took a batch of classic Johnny Cash tracks and brought them into the realm of modern dance music with their studio wizardry. The likes of Alabama 3 (of SOPRANOS theme fame), Pete Rock, and Count De Money take on the Man in Black, adding beats, samples, and electronic effects to such vintage Cash tracks as "Folsom Prison Blues," "I Walk the Line," and "Get Rhythm." In the process, what started out as pure country tunes undergo a sonic transformation right before your eyes. The end result is something that's neither traditional country nor exactly conventional dance music, but rather a new paradigm designed to appeal to fans of both musical camps. |
