 Editor's Note
Arnold Schwartzenegger stars as Howard Langston, an overworked mattress salesman who has been neglecting his family of late; in an attempt to redeem himself, he promises his son whatever he wants for Christmas. Turns out that his heart's desire is a TurboMan doll, coveted by every other kid this year as well, and Howard quickly forgets about his promise until Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, all the stores are already sold out, and Howard embarks upon a wild goose chase throughout the streets of Minneapolis, encountering some wacky characters along the way. These include a postal worker of questionable sanity (Sinbad), a ticket-happy police officer (Robert Conrad), and a con-artist Santa Claus (James Belushi). As Howard's hunt drags on, his bachelor neighbor (Phil Hartman) starts to move in on his wife (Rita Wilson).

| | Professional Reviews | Variety "...Schwarzenegger has developed a light comic delivery....Sinbad has good moments..." 11/25/1996Chicago Sun-Times "...The climax of the movie uses lots of special effects and swooping around....[The movie is] genial and has a lot of energy..." 11/22/1996 p.38 Chicago Sun-Times 7 of 10 "Jingle All the Way'' was inspired, I suspect, by that panic a few years ago when stores ran out of Cabbage Patch dolls. As the movie opens, little Jamie Langston is watching the TurboMan show on TV, and of course he wants the TurboMan action figure for Christmas, complete with all its accessories. Jamie's dad, Howard (Arnold Schwarzenegger), is a busy businessman, who says he has already purchased the toy--but lies. His adventures while trying to find a TurboMan provide the movie's plot...There was once a time when family movies at Christmastime were about kindly old St. Nick and peace on Earth, but as Christmas struggles to widen its lead in the holiday-shopping sweepstakes, products and not sentiments are what turn kids on...I liked a lot of the movie, which is genial and has a lot of energy, but I was sort of depressed by its relentlessly materialistic view of Christmas, and by the choice to go with action and (mild) violence over dialogue and plot." - Roger Ebert
