| | | Hollywood had it coming. Features: DVD, Aspect Ratio 2.35:1, Dolby Digital (5.1), French, Dubbed, Spanish, Subtitled Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back is a tale of adventure on the open road. The punchy Jay and his hetero life-mate, Silent Bob find new purpose when informed a movie is being made based on their likeness. They set out to get the "fat movie cash" they deserve and along the way, they learn the rules of the road, ride with a group of gorgeous jewel thieves and incur the wrath of a hapless wildlife marshal. "Hilarious...a blast of comic irreverence." Rolling Stone "[Smith's] funniest movie yet." Terry Lawson, Detroit Free Press "...an in-joke of epic proportions." Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
 Editor's Note
 Writer-director Kevin Smith's fifth and final installment of his New Jersey Chronicles (which began in 1994 with the breakout, low-budget comedy CLERKS) is a chance for scene-stealing, foulmouthed stoner Jay (Jason Mewes) and his taciturn sidekick/"hetero life mate" Silent Bob (Smith) to carry their own movie. When comic store mogul Brodie (Jason Lee, reprising his MALLRATS role) informs Jay and Silent Bob that a movie featuring their comic book alter egos, Bluntman and Chronic, is about to be made, the duo demands a cut from the comic's creator, Holden (Ben Affleck, in his CHASING AMY role). Holden explains that his ex-partner, Banky (Lee again) has sold them out, and shows them some angry Internet posts from Bluntman and Chronic fans. Fearing for their reputations, Jay and Silent Bob embark on a cross-country odyssey to Hollywood to stop the film. En route, they run afoul of a Charlie's Angels-type jewelry thief ring--one of whom, Justice (Shannon Elizabeth) takes a liking to Jay--an orangutan, a Federal Wildlife Marshall (Will Ferrell), and Miramax studio security. Smith's fond farewell to his intertwined Jersey characters is a lovingly crude, broad comedy rife with celebrity cameos, slapstick movie spoofs, and clever jabs at Hollywood.

And, of course, I mean that as the highest compliment. Jay And Silent Bob is even charming... Even as you shake your head in disbelief at the more outrageous material, you can't help but like these two. After all, it takes a powerful talent to resist reality, inhibition and political correctness at every turn. - Desson Howe San Francisco Chronicle 7 of 10 In addition to being [Smith's] filthiest, this is his most free-associative movie. In spite of and because of its homemade look, it's also his funniest... 10th-grade juvenilia scribbled in the back of a history book... - Wesley Morris

2 of 5 Kevin Smith's Greatest Hits - Rip off Monday, April 04, 2005 sleze from Philadelphia, PA
Every Kevin Smith movie I have ever seen was a work of genius(I have yet to see Jersey Girl) except this one. This is just a cheesy movie that makes references to the previous movies. He also parades a bunch of big time movie stars to keep your attention as well. Jason Mewes is the biggest beneficiary of this since he gets to make out with Shannon Elizabeth a few times.
I would say this is only good for Kevin Smith fanatics. For everyone else, save your money. I wish I could get a refund for crappy products.

5 of 5 smokin weed drinkin beer..... Saturday, October 25, 2003 Rude dog from New York
The Internet? What the heck is the Internet? Ben Afleck will explain. Don't diss Jay on the internet or Jay will track you down and kick your ass!
This movie is hilarious, a must have for those who love depraved humor. You must empty your bladder or wear a diaper before viewing. You get a 2nd DVD of director / actor Kevin Smith who is not silent after and actually a bright guy who takes you through his (and the MPAA's) decisions of how to cut scenes. Then, you see all the stuff that didn't make the movie. There were some hilarious scenes that were just to crude for an R rating. This is one I will watch over and over! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 HIGH fun!!!!! Saturday, January 11, 2003 rm from ca
This movie WILL offend the stuffy, the old at heart, and any sensitive types!
Thus definitely avoid IF...
#1. ...you're bothered by gut-wrenchingly funny yet crass nasty language;
#2. ...you're put off by hilariously inappropriate explicit sexual remarks and suggestions;
#3. ...you're feelings are easily bruised by completely politically incorrect racial/religious/ethnic slurs;
and/or
#4. ...you're upset over drug-related remarks and scenarios.
Those disclaimers noted I happily and gratefully add that this is one funny-ass movie! The bulk of the lines are masterfully delivered by "Jay" (movie's verbose stoner extraordinaire) and supported by a bevy of high-powered stars and comedians. The films enormously talented, utterly irreverent director co-star Kevin Smith (a.k.a. Silent Bob) has done it yet again.
Only watch this movie if you enjoy heartfelt guffaws and oh-my-god laughter when you sit down to watch an outrageous, over the top comedy.

4 of 5 entertaining for college and high school age Thursday, January 02, 2003 jay from harrisonburg, va
A funny movie for anyone who doesn't mind a ton of profanity. It's targeted toward a younger audience--not too many people over 30 will like it unless they are into movies like Dumb and Dumber or Jackass: The Movie. Was this review helpful?

This movie isn't that great as a movie, but as a collection of jokes it's well worth it. As per usual with Kevin Smith, the DVD is loaded with extras. Kevin Smith fans shouldn't hesitate. Was this review helpful?
