Ever since I bought The Bourne Supremacy soundtrack by John Powell during the summer '04, I've been hooked on his composing style. I rate him up there with the likes of Howard Shore, whose LOTR soundtracks I rate to be the best scores of all-time.
Powell's work on Italian Job is no different than his work on the Bourne soundtracks - there's plenty of variety in this piece, though a common theme can be heard throughout. I LOVE his use of percussion. Sometimes I hear similarities between the Italian Job music and the Bourne music, but Italian Job has a more carefree feel than the darker aspects of the Bourne scores.
My favorite track on this one is the first one ... the first time I watched the movie, I was instantly hooked on it because of the music of the opening credits.
This soundtrack is, by far, one of my favorites and I'd rank it in my Top 10 easily. If you love the movie, you'll definitely love the score. And if you're a big John Powell fan, this is a must-have. Was this review helpful?
