| | Hailing from "the middle of nowhere”
—Des Moines, Iowa— they are nine men in nine different masks united with one common goal: world domination. Fortified with an arsenal of blistering music saturated with screams, drums, searing rifts, sampling, scratches and melodies, Slipknot’s music runs the gamut from eerily thought-provoking to utterly terrifying. Now, with their self-titled debut album having already gone platinum, the world waits for their second effort, which has been called by many “one of the most anticipated albums of 2001.”
Slipknot’s sophomore effort builds on the controlled chaos of their incendiary debut. Following almost two years on the road in support of
Slipknot, the nine members of the band (who go by 012345678) joined forces in L.A. with nu-metal super-producer Ross Robinson (Korn, Machine Head) to pound out the 14 songs that make up the new album. Will two years of pent-up aggression to get out of their collective system, Slipknot delivers an album of unparalleled intensity.
With a new album, a killer slot on 2001’s Ozzfest, and a slew of other surprises up their sleeves. Slipknot are ready to resume their merciless assault on the senses. From the bombast of their aural pummeling to the pure adrenaline rush of their live shows— Slipknot is a juggernaut of sight and sound— angry, determined and unstoppable.

The nine-piece masked band has returned with another platter of bile-spitting, hate-filled rage rock, certain to please fans of their self-titled 1999 debut. Despite the debut instantly making the band a promising metal contender (going platinum with absolutely no radio or MTV play), the intensity level hasn't dipped in the slightest on their second platter. Producer Ross Robinson is once again back on board, and IOWA delivers from beginning to end, as evidenced by such angst-filled, explosive tracks as "People = Shit," "The Heretic Anthem," and "Left Behind," to name but a few. IOWA is surely destined to be the album that catapults Slipknot to the top of the heavy metal heap. It serves as the perfect soundtrack for disaffected teenage metalheads the world over. | Producer: Ross Robinson; Slipknot | Engineer: Mike Fraser |
