| Artist Overview |
| The most successful vehicle in the long career of iconic Motor City rocker Mick Collins, the Dirtbombs are one of the most admired bands of the late-1990s/early-2000s garage rock revival. With the Dirtbombs, Collins--whose former band, the Gories, are an acknowledged influence on many, including Jack White--fronts a revolving backing band consisting of two drummers and two bass players. The group plays numerous cover songs and pulls from a diverse array of styles that runs the gamut from soul and funk to glam and art rock, giving them all a supremely fuzzed-out punk makeover. Steadfastly opposed to the "garage rock" label with which he is associated, Collins is nonetheless thought of as something of a de facto godfather for the entire scene. |
