| | | From the Creators of Laguna Beach. Features: DVD, Widescreen, English, Dolby, Digital Audio With a year in Los Angeles under their belts, Lauren and her friends Heidi, Audrina and Whitney are learning that being young women in the big city isn't as easy as they thought. The girls are older, wiser and now single, facing new challenges at work and school. But this year, when new boys force them to make tough choices, Lauren and the girls are about to find out that not even friendship can be taken for granted. This three disc collection includes all 12 episodes from The Complete Second Season of The Hills! "Shot documentary-style and utilizing hand-held cameras to film cast members, The Hills [is]...a frothy, harmless show for the teen set." Ian Visser, DVD Verdict "A carefully massaged spinoff of sorts from "Laguna Beach," the series relocates flaxen-haired Lauren to the hills above West Hollywood..." Brian Lowry, Variety "Like "Laguna Beach", "The Hills" is a good guilty pleasure." Brian Oliver, Movieman's Guide to the Movies "...one of MTV's better reality efforts, as it follows L.C. and friends as they face the eternal struggle of how to effectively balance work and play." CurrentFilm.com "...the definition of a guilty pleasure. The Hills meets every requirement of a soap opera but it is played out against the real world with the actual people in the roles." | | Professional Reviews | Variety 6 of 10 MTV sends out new reality programs for advance review only sporadically, and after witnessing an exercise in unrelenting vacuity like "The Hills," it's easy to understand why. A carefully massaged spinoff of sorts from "Laguna Beach," the series relocates flaxen-haired Lauren to the hills above West Hollywood, where she lands a "killer internship" at Teen Vogue while being surrounded by a new cast of beach-blanket-bingo friends. All told, it's "The Simple Life" with less substance, featuring youths that have clearly studied both the reality TV manual and "The OC" to perfect their "characters"...Granted, MTV is peddling a certain lifestyle and image with its reality fare, and virtually all reality shows set in Southern California indulge in cartoonish stereotypes, a la Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Orange County." - Brian Lowry
