| | Professional Reviews | GameSpy 10 of 10 It's really within the gameplay and narrative that the Half-Life 2 package in The Orange Box shines. While you'll never feel completely confident that you know everything going on within the storyline, Valve's approach to both narrative and design is quite unique. At times, you'll be presented with a puzzle, and while it might seem a tad confusing, things always seem to fall together after a minute or so of searching. It's a refreshing change from the copy/paste level design of some other shooters, and it helps this series stand out...Even though The Orange Box deserves accolades regarding the amount of "bang for your buck," it's really about quality here, not quantity. Aside from the fact that you're receiving five games on one disc, the craftsmanship that has gone into each of these titles rears its head with every Antlion you shoot, every high-velocity portal transfer you make, and every sentry gun you assemble. - Sterling McGarvey

5 of 5 A lot of fun for a good price! Wednesday, February 25, 2009 Ace from Omak, WA
If you like clever puzzle games, a lot of action in a shoot-em up FPS, this is for you! But, if someone also likes a clever game that moves at your pace, this has it too - Portal is great!
Graphics, sound, etc are great and you can de-tune the 'mature' violence for the whole family. Best thing we've bought in a long time. The story line will entertain you for days and probably weeks. Valve's done it again, a winner! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 awesome awesome awesome Wednesday, May 21, 2008 jason c from charlotte, nc
who doesn't already own HL2? For those that don't, read below.
The HL2 episodes are great! Good single player fun, good story line, incredible graphics and cool unique weapons.
Team Fortress 2 is a blast. I always play Scout and run circles around everyone beating them with a bat. :D The other characters are awesome too. It's quite a unique game, and btw it does have a cartoony look to it. This is a kick-butt LAN party game!!
Portal is incredible. It is also very unique and different, unlike any other game. On the down side, you'll blow through it fast. It only has 19 levels and i beat it in a few hours. It's single player only, but i bet they could make this into an awesome multiplayer.
WARNING: The Orange Box does NOT come with Counterstrike: Source or Day of Defeat: Source. If you previously purchased HL2 Gold, Silver or Bronze Edition through Steam you will be able to "gift" to someone else the 2nd copy of HL2 that you are getting in the Orange Box. Was this review helpful?
