HP 50g Graphing Calculator - F2229AA#ABA - Back to school must have!

I bought a HP 48gx about 12 years ago. For $200.00. At a discount store. I spent $118.00 on this calculator. It has seven lines available on the screen versus four for the 48gx. Like the 48gx, the 50g uses AAA batteries. It has been updated and buttons have been moved around but it is very easy to use. You have your choice of RPN or standard data entry. It came with a USB cable with which you can download programs. It also has a slot that utilizes a sandisk card. THIS CALCULATOR IS COOL! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR, BUY ONE.

I have had various calculators over the past 40 years. The best ones were HP and Texas Instruments. This is by far, the best one I have ever owned.

I'm an engineer so I'm biased. Once I learned RPN, I never went back, so RPN is a must. But even if you're not into RPN, this calculator is still for you. My HP 48G and it's little 4MHz Saturn uC got me through college. That model only offered RPN. I bought the HP 49G+ a few years ago, with the under-clocked ARM uC. It added CAS (visual algebra) and non-RPN modes (for those that wanted to borrow my calculator). It also and allegedly had Saturn emulation and some of the 48 library. It did not (later firmware releases did though). In any case, it was junk -- from the keyboard to the fact that it would no longer work after 13 months of only moderate usage. So I went back to my 48G. Once I heard HP was getting back into the calculator market, and the HP 50G was planned to address "all the shortcomings" of the HP 49G+, I was hopeful. I picked up the HP 50G and it was pleasing to have the "feel" of a HP calculator button-wise. It also had a drastically improved 48 library support included, and everything "just works" -- everything like the 49G+ should have been. It's been almost a year now, and it still works like a champ (just like my 48G)! Definitely the best calculator, whether you learn RPN or not. HP is back! There is a reason why 48G's have actually appreciated in cost, but with the 50G, you don't need to buy one. Especially if you don't like RPN, which the 50G gives you that option if you don't.

I am using the HP-50G for my doctorate studies in computer engineering. This calculator is invaluable for homework and tests. I have used HP scientific calculators in studies and engineering since I got my first HP-35 in 1972. I have had several since then and every one has been excellent.

I am a college math instructor, and this is the calculator I recommend. I own the TI-84 Plus Silver, and I still recommend this one because it covers so many topics so well. Even if you are not going to be an Engineer, I recommend this one to help get you through all of your current and future math courses.
