I'm giving it the 5's across the board for a few reasons...I've taken the finish off my kitchen table with my laptop's heat...and this pad stopped it from happening again...so it was money well spent. Ease of use is a no-brainer...performance keeps the laptop running easily 10 degrees F colder. I use it on my Macbook Pro, which is wrapped in leather and tends to get pretty hot, especially if I've got it sitting on my legs...and this makes things noticeably cooler. I'd recommend it to anyone looking to cut down on the heat that laptops these days tend to generate, especially when gaming or doing things that spike the processor for long periods of time.

The Targus HeatDefense is an interesting concept that actually works pretty good. If you often work with the laptop on your lap, you know it can get quite hot. What this product does it acts as a buffer between the laptop and your lap and is effective. It also seems to keep the laptop cooler than when I am not using it. Whether it improves battery life is hard for me to determine. All-in-all a good product that can easily travel with you.
