Gears of war is one of the best games out for any system right now. The gameplay is revolutionary and the graphics are some of the best i've seen on a console. If you are a fan of gears then get the special edition; if not then maybe the regular edition would be best. Was this review helpful?

The game is itself is fantastic. Graphics have definitely been improved over the first of GOW. However, GOW2 has a great storyline. Epic Games really created an epic game this time round.
The Bonus dvd is nice. The artbook is really cool and includes a little history to the game. The flashback maps are nice and the golden lancer is really cool. The golden lancer isn't better than the regular one, just gold.

This is a great game, it has a good story mode and the multiplayer mode is even better. The addition of horde in multiplayer makes for an exciting challenge that can eat away at days while you try to make it through 50 waves of locusts. The replay value is not as great as other games but the achievements do keep you busy...if that's your thing. I bought this for the same price my friends paid for the "regular" version of the game. Check for coupons you can use and springing for the limited edition may not be so painful. Was this review helpful?

This is a great game, but not for the kids. Please pay attention to the ESRB ratings, they are not arbitrary. They do mean something. The collectors edition comes with an extra DVD that has a few bonus features as well as a code for the gold lancer, and the DVD has exclusive gamerpics also. The extra multiplayer maps come with every new copy of the game, collectors edition or not. It is a way to persuade you to buy new I guess. So far they are not up for download, so you cannot even buy the maps if you wanted to, you just have to get the game new.
If you want detailed reviews, check out metacritic. It is fun, great with friends. There have been some issues with matchmaking, but I have not experienced them. All in all a must have for the MATURE gamer, and certainly not for kids or those who do not appreciate violence. Fortunately, you can turn off bad language and gore in the options, so that is nice, but even with those both off, it would still warrant an M rating. Was this review helpful?
