FlatOut Ultimate Carnage features up to eight person events online, with both ranked and player match types supported. Games can be full-on race events, stunt mini-games, or smash-up derby melees. Each car class is supported online too, not to mention selectable upgrade levels that allow for a real-time handicap system for players of varying abilities. FlatOut Ultimate Carnage's online area even includes a Tournament session type which allows up to twelve events to be played in a points-style affair. The online play of FlatOut Ultimate Carnage is as fast and as furious as the offline play, with little signs of slowdown. This is impressive considering just how many objects have to be animated in a race containing eight human drivers...Despite a few quirks, FlatOut Ultimate Carnage is an excellent extreme racer that is recommended for most types of gearheads. Those that like to marvel at visual technology will also find FlatOut Ultimate Carnage surprising, as it has come out of the blue...to become one of the more impressive titles on the Xbox 360 from an aesthetic standpoint.
