The sci-fi/horror genre could take a lesson from THE FACULTY..." 02/01/1999 p.59Los Angeles Times "...It's a consistently funny and clever teen horror flick....This well-crafted film plugs into universal teenage fears and emotions..." 12/25/1998 p.C22 Uncut "[A] lot of fun to watch." 01/01/2004 p.141 Boxoffice Magazine 8 of 10 In a small town in Ohio, where the performance of the local high school football team dictates the general feeling of the day, who would think of spending school funds on new books, computers or field trips? But the students' uncomplicated lifestyle is about to take a deadly 180 degree turn. For some reason, the burned-out faculty members are suddenly energized and unusually aggressive. When the school photographer (Elijah Wood)...catches a glimpse of what is really going on, he has to convince his peers that the school is being taken over by aliens. It's up to a loner (She's All That's Clea Duvall), the head cheerleader (Jordana Brewster of TV's As the World Turns), the captain of the football team (Outside Providence's Shawn Hatosy), the school drug supplier (Josh Hartnett of Halloween H2O) and the new kid in school (Scalper's Laura Harris), led by Wood's character, to put an end to the takeover. The seemingly simple plot turns out to be labyrinthine: There are so many twists, turns and dead ends that one's mind must be put in reverse and turn left instead of right to figure out what's going on. The best thing about The Faculty, which brings together the dynamic talents of Scream scripter Kevin Williamson and From Dusk Till Dawn helmer Robert Rodriguez, is that the characters have intelligence and hidden talents. The sci-fi/horror genre could take a lesson from The Faculty. - Dwayne E. Leslie Leonard Maltin's Movie & Video Guide 8 of 10 Ohio high school students who normally clash with one another are forced to band together when they discover that their teachers are being taken over by aliens. Self-referential horror film, with a healthy nod to Invasion Of The Body Snatchers, is a cut above usual teen gore fests and has a first-rate cast... - Leonard Maltin

5 of 5 MY FAVORITE MOVIE Sunday, December 30, 2001 A Viewer from Apex
The movie is about school that is being taken over by aliens, and normal people are running out and they need to find out who the queen alien is in order to turn all the people back to normal. This movie is just awsome, its got a great plot and is non-stop fun from the beginning to the end. I wish they had put more behind the scenes features on the DVD though, but don't buy it for the extra stuff buy this movie because it's just good. The casting is great, very belivable. BUY THIS MOVIE, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 A bit derivative, but a good movie Monday, November 29, 1999 shadracht from Fort Wayne, IN
While this film is derivative of several others, it is still a fun movie to watch. The acting is very well done, and helps to bring you into the story. Disappointing, however, is how little 'extra' they put into the DVD. All that is available is the original trailer, and some 'suggested viewing', which was basically other movies out by the same distributor. With DVD being so popular these days, the least they could have done was cast bios. All in all, the movie is good, but they could have done more work on the DVD. Was this review helpful?
