5 of 5 Works best as receiver antenna Thursday, May 08, 2008 Brian from Calhoun, LA
Connected to the router, I showed no signal improvement; connected to the PC wireless adapter, signal improvement was from 2 bars to constant 4 or 5 bars. Very pleased. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 Does it do ANYTHING? Monday, January 28, 2008 Davidjm from Chester, NJ
Read lots of mixed reviews: have the D-Link DI-624 router at a corner of the main floor, laptop signal in far room upstairs (large wood-frame house) is "very low". NO DIFFERENCE with the "+7db gain" antenna. Me thinks it is a fraud. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Not the best thing since sliced bread, but not bad Saturday, January 26, 2008 Phillip from Florida
All I know is that there's a spot in my house that I was having trouble getting a usable signal to. It would work sometimes, others not at all. Even when it worked, the signal was weak and the connection speed would step down to under 10 Mbps, sometimes to 1 Mbps. After installing this antenna, now I can always get a usable signal in that same spot. It's not a great signal, but it's always usable. I'm on it now and it's showing signal strength of Low, speed 48 Mbps. This was never the case before. I would buy the product again. Was this review helpful?

I just needed something for my 2 story house and it really boosted my signal. I should have bought one of these a long time ago. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Fantastic Buy Thursday, December 27, 2007 Kyp from TN
If you use a wireless network in anything but a 1-bedroom apartment you should absolutely buy this item! Buy.com has a fantastic price, especially if you get it with a rebate. This DLink antenna is a very high quality item with a sturdy base; I have my router in a convenient location, with the antenna atop a shelf for maximum coverage. With the old 2" antenna I would get 40-50% signal in the far reaches of my home; I was shocked to see that I now get 90%. There's hardly anywhere I can go that I don't get 95-100%. I'm sure results will vary, but anything is better than the 2" antenna most routers come with. It was so cheap I decided to give it a try and see if it made any difference at all- I can't possibly give this item less than a 5. Previously I was using two wireless routers to make sure I could get a good signal all over my house- thanks to this antenna I'm now only using one.
[PS- from some of the reviews here it looks like some people are plugging it into the wireless card on their computer. You can do this, but it makes far more sense to use it on the router itself to replace the factory antenna.] Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Better than expected Wednesday, December 26, 2007 Andrey from Philadelphia, PA
Antenna visibly improved the Wifi signal reception on the media player - no more stuttering video and faster navigation... Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works great Friday, December 14, 2007 Ryan from crescent city, ca
I had hooked this up to one of my rangebooster 2320 pci cards, and it was reaching a router set up 50 or so yards away. going through 2 walls. the connection strength was 3/4 out of 5 bars. And the router is a rangebooster aswell. worked twice as good as the small antenna that came with the card. very pleased with the purchase. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Directional Antenna Thursday, December 13, 2007 mill122@atlanticbb.net from North Warren, Pa
We are pleased with it. We needed a little more signal on the computer for the distance we were using our laptop and it has provided that. Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 CHECK for router compatiblity!! Saturday, December 08, 2007 Tony L from NJ
I am sure that it is a fine product so disregard my low review ratings.
You better check that your router has a detachable antenna otherwise it is useless product. Was this review helpful?

Antenna does not seem to improve performance itself but does slightly help performance by allowing better placement of the radiating antenna. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great range Wednesday, November 28, 2007 A Customer from New York City
Improved the range of our signal significantly - very easy to connect to the router. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 May work for your application Wednesday, November 28, 2007 A Customer from Niles, IL
We ordered several of these units. They improved reception for PCs located quite a distance from the DI-624 router when substituted for the PCI card antenna. They had virtually no value in increasing strength of transmission (over what we get with an older Hawking antenna) when connected directly to the router. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Did the trick Wednesday, November 28, 2007 A Customer from North Plains, OR
For a problematic system that was on the other side of 4 walls and a bathroom, this took it's signal from 15 MB/s to full 108 MB/s. Ping's went from around 200ms to around 50ms.
I was concerned it may not help after reading some of the reviews, but it really did exactly what was needed for me. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Worked for me Wednesday, November 28, 2007 A Customer from IA
I wasn't able to get a wireless signal from one end of the house to the other. I tried repositioning the PCI card antenna and even building my own cantenna, but I still couldn't get a reliable signal. I saw that this was on sale and decided to jump on it as a last resort. I got it two months ago, and haven't had a single problem connecting since the day I hooked it up!
It's also very easily wall-mounted, which is great if you want to position it up high for the best possible signal. The cable is plenty long enough to allow for this. It may not work as well for everyone else as it did for me, but for the price, it's worth a shot! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works well easy install Tuesday, November 27, 2007 geomathon@yahoo.com from Marshfield VT
I unscrewed my existing antenna and screwed in the new one. Everything worked as usual over my wireless network: a Mac, a Dell PC, and an HP wireless printer. I can't tell exactly if it has improved my wireless network but it seems that I've had fewer lost connections. I'd buy it again. Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 DO NOT BUY - DOES NOT HELP WITH RANGE! Monday, November 12, 2007 A Customer from Chicago, IL
This is a useless piece of junk being marketed as an antenna. The original antenna that came with my D-link DL624 works better. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Try a directional antenna Wednesday, November 07, 2007 LFord from North Carolina
For those complaining about the D-LINK ANT24-0700 7dBi Omni-Directional Indoor Wireless Antenna not improving signal strength, note that is it an "OMNI-DIRECTIONAL" antenna. That means, if attached to a router, the signal is transmitted in 360 degrees, i.e., all directions, and the signal is no stronger in one direction than another.
To increase the signal received by a computer in another location, try a DIRECTIONAL antenna, point it toward the receiving computer, and the entire signal is concentrated in that direction. (E.g., the D-Link 6dBi Directional Indoor Antenna - DWL-M60AT; take a look at it and note the difference in the antenna shape.)
Remember, these are basic Radio Frequency principles at work here, so whatever blocks or attenuates a radio signal will do the same to the Wi-Fi signals.
Just my .02 from an old ham radio guy. Was this review helpful?

A beautiful product at a reasonable price, but it didn't help get a stronger signal across the house. Was this review helpful?

This antenna does not meet the expectations I had from the advertisement of the product. I did pick up about 15% on signal strength two rooms away. But the range outside of the house failed to reach any further than the 4db antenna I replaced. It may work well for others, but for my needs it doesn't do the job. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works great Sunday, August 12, 2007 A Customer from wayland ma
This antenna has allowed wifi reception in parts of my house which before were impossible to reach with my stock router antenna. At a final price after rebate of $23 I don't know of any better product. Was this review helpful?
