4 of 5 Excellent for Small Apt Saturday, April 18, 2009
Sprout from Long Beach, NY

I just moved into a one bedroom, decent sized condo and I was looking for something that wouldn't be over the top (I dont' have three floors or anything)and at a great price. This item is excellent and with a ten dollar rebate, $32 - I couldn't find any other deals like this. A few gripes: upon installation, it didn't work for a few days but after I had a friend fix it it worked great. Every now and then it will be a little slow, but nothing terrible. I haven't heard anything about the rebate and I mailed everything in - it has been about 3 weeks.

4 of 5 so far... Thursday, March 12, 2009
A Customer from lakeville ct
...so good. I am writing this from a sofa b/c of the efficacy of the wireless router. Installation was easy, delivery prompt. Value is all right, and will be excellent if and when I receive the rebate, which I sent in with the various bits of documentation.

2 of 5 Unstable Wireless Connection Friday, February 27, 2009
Will from Raleigh, NC
I have been using this router (D-Link WBR-2310, Rev B1, firmware 2.01) for wireless services (Auto Channel Scan ON, all other wireless options OFF; Security Mode set to WPA-2) for about one month (four months for wired network services). I've had no problem with wired services, but all of my wirelessly-connected computers (a MacBook and a Mac Mini, both running Mac OS 10.5.6, and an IBM ThinkPad running Windows XP Pro SP2) have trouble maintaining a wireless connection to the WBR-2310. After powering up the router, all three can detect the wireless signal and make a connection. After some time (as short as 2-3 hours but usually not more than about 36 hours), both Macs report being unable to get an IP address ("Airport is using a self-assigned IP address"; even assigning a fixed IP address to the Mac does that I'd previously "reserved" on the router does not reenable the connection), while the ThinkPad completely loses the connection (no signal reported). After resetting the router, all three computers are once again able to detect to the wireless signal and receive IP address assignments. While this is going on, my desktop XP SP3 system has no problem maintaining its wired connection (except while the router is restarting, of course), so it's strictly a wireless networking problem. I've tried simplifying the wireless setup via the browser control panel (shutting off all the options, downgrading from WPA-2 to WPA, etc.), but nothing helps the situation. Given that the problem occurs with both Windows XP and Mac systems (both with all OS updates installed), I can only conclude that it's a problem with the D-Link router (possibly with the DHCP server, though that wouldn't explain the ThinkPad's being unable to get a signal). FYI, I've left all of the "Advanced Wireless Settings" (Beacon interval, RTS Threshold, etc.) set to their default values; note that I'm using the actual defaults, not the erroneous values (typos?) that are given in the D-Link user manual. I'm a former computer systems manager and have been working with networks and routers for well over a decade, including a previous wireless router in my home. I've had troubleshooting help from a professional Mac systems integrator with whom I've worked for over a decade. After over 12 hours of cumulative troubleshooting between the two of us, we have been unable to find a solution to this problem. Consequently, I can't recommend this router for wireless networking use, unless you're willing to have to reset the router daily (or more often than that at times).

3 of 5 quality degrading Wednesday, September 24, 2008
A Customer from Plainsboro, NJ
My previous router was also a D-Link and I bought this one to replace it. Somehow the quality of the new one is worse than the old one. Not only the perfromance is not as stable, the signal strength is much weaker. The usable range is only roughly 50 ft. It is funny that when I check available networks within range, all my neighbors' routers have stronger signal than my own, and sometimes I do not even see my router showing.

2 of 5 Don't count on the rebate from D-Link Tuesday, June 24, 2008
A Customer from Toledo, Ohio
The product performed fine but don't count on the rebate from D-Link in your pricing. Six months later and they're still stringing me along. The rebates from Buy.com always come quickly but there's a reason D-Link has so many products with rebates - they don't pay! They string you along, requesting you send this or that again, promising to send the check in the next four weeks but it never shows up. They are counting on you giving up - Don't do it! If you were dumb enough to fall for their scam (like me), keep hounding them until they pay up.

1 of 5 Worst. Router. Ever Friday, May 09, 2008
Charles from Atlanta, Georgia
How badly do I hate this router? I am going to every site possible and writing a negative review. It's a piece of junk. Avoid it. My experience with it has been so frustrating that I will never own another piece of D-Link equipment. I have upgraded the firmware. Twice. The second upgrade broke MAC filtering and I can no longer MAC filter. It also assigns incorrect IP addresses which prevents me from connecting. It drops the connection and has to be physically rebooted before allowing the connection again. It is horribly slow to boot. It takes forever to negotiate and authenticate a connection. It is generally flaky, unreliable, fragile and irritating. Dear buyer, beware. This product is absolutely the worst. Go Linksys or Netgear. I've had better experiences with both.

2 of 5 Cheap... That is the only good thing about it Friday, April 25, 2008
A Network Manager from Orlando, Florida
I picked this router up on sale a while ago. Was planning to use it as an access point to extend the range of my existing network. This thing did not want to work at all ... there were constant freezes, non responses, and everthing else that might happen to a non functional network. The user interface is not friendly, there are a lot of differences that one will need to get used to prior to actuall getting this product functional. The latest dlink firmware claimed to have fixed issues with user interface but it clearly did nothing much... I have used many various brands of routers and broadband modems, even the old serial console / text based config routers is easier to use than this. I have used zyxel, linksys, linksys/cisco, speedstream, netgear, among others... any other random router is better than this. But if you can find it when the sale comes, I don't intend to stop you from getting one... Its overall performance is really marginal at best.

4 of 5 Flaky at times - but still better than a Linksys Wednesday, February 06, 2008
A Customer from Huntington, WV
I have owned D-Link routers for the last 8 years, and I am a huge fan of their products. I have tried Netgear, Linksys, Belkin, and a few others, and D-Link has always been the best in my experience. That said, I thought this particular model would be superb, based on my previous experience with their products. After a couple months it started locking up - all lights frozen, requiring a power cycle of the router to fix it. This became worse and worse until after about 6 months it was a paperweight. After really fighting it out with their technical support (which you HAVE to do to get a warranty replacement) and struggling to make a non-english speaking person understand the problem (one even hung up on me - twice) I finally argued enough with their supervisor's supervisor to get a replacement sent out. It takes so long to get a replacement I went ahead and purchased another new one as I needed access for work. After several months now the new one, too, has started to lock up on occassion requiring a power cycle. I haven't even plugged the replacement up, preferring to keep it as a backup. While it does this much less frequently than the 1st one (once every week or two at most) it DOES still occur. After saying all of that, I will say that it is still probably one of the best routers out there in terms of functionality, ease of setup, maintenance, features, etc. I run a lot of devices off of my network, and could be just too much for my router. For your average home network I don't think you could go wrong here. Just pray that you never need to contact their technical support.

2 of 5 Any flakier, and I'd pour milk on it Tuesday, February 05, 2008
JJ from Chicagoland, IL
The 2310 is a re-packaging of an earlier D-Link router, and it is super flaky. A quick search on the web will reveal that my problems have not been unique -- random rebooting, frequent loss of connectivity via wireless, administrative control panel lock up. After hours of reading, and endless times rebooting. I finally solved the problem -- Keep things simple and slow. Flash latest patches Use WEP, not WPA Never turn on gaming mode or MultiCast Set wireless speed to 48mbps maximum always use Auto channel select on wireless Since doing this combination, it has worked without problem. If I try to increase speed -- problems, if i increase security -- problems. Essentially, all the "advanced" features make it go flaky!

5 of 5 D-Link Superiority nothing new Friday, December 14, 2007
Todd Clippard from Hamilton, Alabama
This D-Link router was purchased to replace one bought several years ago. Unfortunately, before buying this replacement, I tried a Linksys router. A local store had one and I thought I could save some time, because a router is a router, right? Wrong! Buying the Linksys was a total waste of time. Setup and use of the D-Link system is quick and easy. I was up and running in less than 10 minutes. I already had a D-Link USB wireless pickup and a D-Link wireless card for my old laptop. The signals are strong and consistent. The performance and value of D-Link products are second to none, and I highly recommend them to anyone wishing to network their home or small office.

5 of 5 This is a great router. Thursday, December 06, 2007
Mike from Medina,OH
I replaced an older D-Link DI-604/DWL 800AP (combo) with this wired/wireless unit at my home. I have set-up and used a few Linksys WRT54G's at other family locations along with setting up and using a "2wire914' DSL modem/router/wireless at a friends home. This WBR 2310 was the easiest and fastest to set up of them all. I did not use the wizard on the CD because I wanted to "see" the set up as I was doing it. I feel it is important to be able to go back to what "you" set up in case you want to change it. But it was EASY! If you can follow a few screens of info and fill in a few lines of answers you are done. Even if you don't want to follow along- (like setting up WEP or WPA) the router will work as soon as you plug it in. You really do not have to configure anything if you don't want to. As for the review from the guy who said it takes 30 seconds to reset-- I have not seen a Linksys that will reset much faster. It is not even noticeable (unless you watch the screen that says "restarting".) I feel this router has better web screens (easier to understand)than my Linksys routers. Just my opinion-- but after a month using this router I like it!!

4 of 5 Good wireless router Wednesday, November 28, 2007
Ian from Chicago, IL
If you have experience with wireless routers and networks, the setup for this product should be fairly simple and straight-forward. Price with rebate was attractive, but I would have rather had a lower purchase price and no rebate to submit. Good range with WLAN and only complaint is that there seems to be some false warnings in the routers log which seem to be related to the anti-virus software Avast.

5 of 5 Works Great and is Stylish Tuesday, November 13, 2007

Setting up a router is never a very easy thing to do, but D-Link has taken much of the pain out of the process. The software and setup guide is very good, and everything works as advertised. Great Product - Great Value!

3 of 5 Make Sure You Update Firmware ASAP Monday, August 13, 2007
A Customer from rochester, ny
I am very surprised that on a WIFI G product that a firmware update is needed immediately to function properly with equipment that worked fine with a previous model Dlink router. I had an earlier Dlink router that died after a few years. Worked fine. Replaced it with this one. I sent back the first one. Tried to work with customer service on the second, who blamed it on my computers. Finally I updated the units firmware before I shipped the second one back. Guess what, it worked fine with all my computers after the upgrade. I understand bugs on new technology, but this router was not a new technology or even freshly released. I wasted about 4 hours figuring this out.

5 of 5 Awesome SOLID Router! Thursday, June 14, 2007
A Customer from Charlotte, NC
Excellent router. Biggest plus is that this router worked with my crazy network with NO issues! 1. This router works with the Sunrocket VOIP Gizmo BEHIND it. The last Linksys I tried would not work unless the gizmo went in front and then port forwarding was broken. 2. I forward tons of ports for web, ftp, remote desktop and this D-Link has a crazy amount of entries for forwarding ports, etc. All work well. 3. You can specify static IP addresses for certain machines on your network by the MAC address. 4. It has DNS forwarding. Which basically makes the router act like a DNS server. 5. Wireless worked with the Dell laptop and the older .g D-Link USB adapter I have. 6. Wireless security works great. 7. VPN works fine. Although I am unable to test multiple VPN sessions. Supposedly this router will handle them.

5 of 5 My computer can't keep up! Wednesday, October 04, 2006
Mike D from Encino, CA
Man, I love this router. This is my 2nd D-Link router. The first was a 22 MbPS, and upgrading to this 108 MbPS, you can really tell the difference. Rangebooster is awesome, the signal is a lot stronger than my older D-Link. Now, all I need to do is buy some more RAM, because my laptop can't seem to keep up with the connection speed! =D Highly recommended
