5 of 5 Be sure you cable company accepts this model Tuesday, December 02, 2008
JP from Fort Smith, Arkansas

My cable company, Cox Communications, will not accept this or any D-Link model so be sure before you order. If you have to send it back to Buy.com expect it to take 3 weeks to get credit, minus their 15% restocking fee, and your shipping expenses.

Working as expected. Called cable company to give them MAC address. Modem recognized and works great so far. No more $3 rental fees each month! With the total price after rebate this thing will pay for itself in 10 months time.

5 of 5 An Excellent Cable Modem Monday, July 07, 2008
A Customer from Charles Town, WV
We have had a number of other brand's DSL and cable modems over the years, however, these D-Link modems are by far the best ever. They have worked perfectly right out of the box and have not required any attention since they were installed. We have not had a dropped connection yet. They are great! The price was fair, and even better with the rebate which was received in less time than with many other companies.

2 of 5 Don't count on the rebate from D-Link Tuesday, June 24, 2008
A Customer from Toledo, Ohio
The product performed fine but don't count on the rebate from D-Link in your pricing. Six months later and they're still stringing me along. The rebates from Buy.com always come quickly but there's a reason D-Link has so many products with rebates - they don't pay! They string you along, requesting you send this or that again, promising to send the check in the next four weeks but it never shows up. They are counting on you giving up - Don't do it! If you were dumb enough to fall for their scam (like me), keep hounding them until they pay up.

Got a great price on Buy.com, ordered it, called Comcast when it came and gave them all the numbers the needed off the modem, returned the rented modem, and have been up and running ever since with no problems. Speed actually seems faster. Thanks for the product reviews guys.

5 of 5 Smooth Wednesday, May 28, 2008
Adam W. from Macon, GA
I've had no problems using this with a Netgear wireless-G router. In general, I find Dlink to be easy to set up, but with a cable modem, there is no set up. I just had to send the MAC (printed on the bottom label of the unit) to the ISP, and I was off to the races.

5 of 5 Another Great DLINK Product!!! Wednesday, May 14, 2008
A Customer from Ludlow, MA
I purchased this as a spare to my existing linksys cable modem. I have always been impressed with the quality and value of DLink products so I installed it in place of my current cable modem. I'm not sure if it has but it seems that my broadband speed has increased since I installed this cable modem. Thank you DLink for another great product!!

4 of 5 great value for money Saturday, May 03, 2008
A Customer from Little Rock, AR
Thanks to buy.com, I got this delivered in couple of days after ordering. Set up was fairly easy, I returned my comcast modem and after calling comcast tech support, within 5 min my modem was up and running (moreover got a gr8 deal on comcast upgrade for 6 months, ;) so obviously I love the modem already). I've been getting very good performance, no issues at all. Earlier I had to reset my modem at least once a day but this one is working fine so far. Indeed a great value for money. Enjoy!!!

Frank P. from Estes Park,CO.
Had a Motorola SB 5100 that kept dropping the connection. Got the D-Link DCM-202 - USB/Ethernet Cable Modem and it hasen't had a dropped connection yet -- seem to be faster to. Would highly recommend it modem if you are having cable modem troubles -- it might cure your problem -- as it did mine.

5 of 5 Still working good after 1 year Thursday, July 12, 2007
A Customer from Seattle, WA
I've had this cable modem for well over a year without problems. So at least with my Comcast system, it works good and saves me $3 per month. So it paid for itself relatively quickly. Many times you can find a decent rebate on this particular modem, which coupled with the occasional dollar off coupons, can net you a very low final cost.

5 of 5 Why did I ever lease a modem from my ISP? Monday, July 02, 2007
A Customer from California
Read the reviews and liked what I read. Installation was easy; the hardest part was getting in the car to return the leased modem to my ISP. As part of the installation, it is necessary to call your ISP and provide the MAC address; this is simple, requiring a phone call to your ISP and providing the MAC address. I've read reviews where Charter customers said their connection appeared faster. While I cannot prove this, it appears to me that my connection is a bit faster and has fewer hiccups.

5 of 5 Surprising what you’ll do for $3.00 per month Tuesday, June 26, 2007
Steven from Houston, TX
I decided to purchase my own cable modem instead of continuing to pay a monthly fee for it. I have had positive experiences with D-Link product, so when Buy.com offered it at a good price, I purchased the product. Buyers beware: I had to call the cable company a couple of times to get them to recognize the MAC address properly. Yes, this is very important. The very first thing you should do upon purchasing this product is to call the cable company and register the MAC address. Without the MAC address being recognized by the cable company, it will not work. Now, mind you that the cable company will not tell you that they have set it up, so after a week or so, call them back and make sure that they registered it properly. Now I know that has nothing to do with the product, but that was the hardest part of the installation. Once it was registered, plugged in, and connected, it worked perfectly. It has worked flawlessly since. Performance is improved over the cable company’s modem. Quite honestly, I don’t even think about it; it works that well. I like D-Link. I have a couple of their wireless units in my system. They work well, too. Highly Recommended. 4 out of 5 on price because I’m a bit of a miser.

5 of 5 Works well Tuesday, June 19, 2007
Jeff from Asheville, NC
I replaced an older RCA model DCM235 cable modem I was renting from Charter. Simply had to unplug the RCA and plug in the D-Link DCM-202. I did have to call Charter to register the MAC address but as soon as I did, it started working. I cannot tell a difference in speed, but it at least works as well as the RCA. This will save me the rental fee once I get the RCA back to Charter.

5 of 5 Excellent Modem Wednesday, April 25, 2007
A Customer from Little Rock, AR
Having wanted to own my own cable modem and not rent one on a monthly basis I looked at several modems before picking this D-Link one. What made me choose it over the others was price and the D-Link name. I have a wireless router from them and it has been the best one I have had versus others from Linksys. With this modem, D-Link did not let me down, it has been great and I have had no problems with it. Quick setup and tons of online help.

5 of 5 Easy set up and outstanding performance Monday, March 12, 2007
Jim Gorton from Pasadena, CA
The D-Link DCM-202 was truly simple to set up and seems to have made a significant positive difference in throughput with my cable service. Downloads seem to be coming through much faster than previously. Added to this, this modem is truly a knock-out in looks - the case is silver and black, very sleek - the product picture does it no justice at all. With the green status lights glowing, it looks like some little alien artifact sitting on the desktop. Very cool.

5 of 5 What can I say, but Fast!! Tuesday, September 26, 2006
A Customer from Las Vegas, NV
Had an original cable modem from Cox. Bought a new computer and was running CS:S and kept getting kicked from the server for high latency issues. Upgraded to this bad boy with the Wireless Gamer Router and I'm flying at 1Gbps. No more latency issues and d/l speed is phenomenal when using bit torrent client. Never had issues with the modem, only issues with the actually cable company at times, but this thing keeps on going.

John from Urbandale IA
I replaced the modem I had been renting from my cable company and was pleasantly surprised with the small footprint the DCM-202 uses! Complete satisfaction right out of the box. I have been using the D-Link DI-604 router for 18 months and can say D-Link equipment is top quality.

5 of 5 Great! Tuesday, August 01, 2006
yingzhong chen from San Ramon, CA
Just replace one of my Zoom modem which got disconnected very often if the room temperature is high. Got this modem two days after placing the order (use 5-7 days shipping method). Installation is a piece of cake for me, so easy. With comcast, you don't even need to call them to tell the MAC address. Everything went smoothly online. Now superfast, one time I tested the download speed from Sun site at Houston, wow, 42 Mb/sec!

5 of 5 Fantastic results with Comcast Thursday, June 22, 2006
James Farrelly from Philadelphia, PA
I have been experiencing speed problems with my Internet connection lately. After doing a little research I figured the my old DLink DCM-200 might be the problem. I just installed the new DCM-202 and WOW what a difference. I measured performance with CNet's speed tester http://reviews.cnet.com/7004-7254_7-0.html. Old modem max speed was around 200 Kpbs with an average under 100. The new DLink DCM-202 is getting speed over 1500Kpbs and sometimes up to 1900kpbs. A huge difference. Setup took about 15 minutes with the comcast support person, very easy and no problems.

5 of 5 Upgrade if you have an old Modem! Sunday, September 25, 2005
Jeff from Vancouver WA
I have been having trouble with my Comcast recently with slow downloads and timing out. I've been using a Toshiba PCX 1100 since the days of TCI. Turns out these old modems won't work well now that the bandwidth has been turned up by comcast. They don't bother to communicate that with the user base! Anyway went from 1000 kbps with timing out to 6100 kbps download speed. Awesome!

5 of 5 Awesome Thursday, September 01, 2005
A Customer from Hazlet, NJ
I had been renting a cable modem way too long. I purchased this modem and my internet is flying! The only hastle was that I had to call Comcast and stay on hold forever until they could add the new modem MAC address to my account. I also had to clone the new MAC address to my wireless router. Once I did all of that, my Internet connection was better than ever and my VOIP works perfectly. My entire network is D-Link and I could not be happier!

5 of 5 Increased my Download Speed Thursday, August 25, 2005
Jim from Rockville, MD
Before unhooking my 2-week old modem from Comcast (RCA brand) I ran a Speed test at www.dslreports.com. I then installed the D-Link 202, had Comcast configure the new Mac address, and then repeated my speed test. Download speed with the RCA modem averaged 2.9mps while download speed with the D-Link averaged 3.9mps. That is a 25% speed increase. Nuff said, this is one fine piece of equipment for me.

5 of 5 Excellent. . . Thursday, August 04, 2005
Wayne from Dallas, TX.
My old modem was a DCM-200. Comcast is my provider. Comcast advertises "Up to 4 Mb/s donload speed". My DCM-200 would average around 3.5, normal for my area. With the DCM-202 my speed went to 4.7 Mb/s (as tested at broadbandreports.com speed tests). The new technology works. Excellent performance. After I got the modem I went to the D-link site to look for upgrades. There was an upgrade for Comcast. I sent an email to D-link asking about it and got a reply in ONLY SIX HOURS!!! Excellent support. My modem had the latest updates but the response time was wonderful. My entire home network is D-link, what more can I say?

4 of 5 Good deal Wednesday, July 20, 2005
A Customer from Seattle, WA
This works OK with Comcast. Here are some tips for updating the firmware if you need to do it with Comcast. First follow the complex instructions that come with the firmware download. It is not real intuitive. You will need to do two other things. First unplug the cable connection to the modem. Next connect your computer directly to the modem NIC, not through a router but directly to the modem. Now you should be able to do the firmware update. You will also need to disable your XP firewall.
