4 of 5 Great Monday, January 30, 2006 A Customer from El Monte, CA
The Nomad is simply great. When I've first heard of the hype on iPod's I thought about getting one, but the price was over my range. So I day after day I went online and searched for something similar but without the price. And finally I came across the Nomad. It stores alot, I've had it for almost a year now, and I'm not even close to using half of it's storage capacity. Customizable background, but it has to be words only. It's very easy to use, the body is strong and durable, battery life is great, but it's a little on the bulky side. Other than that, if you're looking for something similar to the iPod I suggest this product Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 2 years & going strong! Thursday, December 01, 2005 Raul from Los Angeles, CA
I bought my Nomad over two years ago & have not had one problem with it. I've used it at work everyday for the past 18 months & I play it for my entire ten hour shift. The battery is showing no sign of deterioration. It still gets 10-12 hours per charge & I charge it on a daily basis. I'm thinking of getting the new Ipod because of its video capabilites but I can't bring myself to plunk down the cash because my Nomad is still in mint condition! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Still Going After One Year Wednesday, November 16, 2005 A Customer from New York, NY
I've had the Nomad 30GB for a year now and it's still going strong. Only the earbuds needs to be replaced...they've taken a lot of wear and tear...no surprise there. I use it all the time. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Great jukebox Wednesday, September 07, 2005 A Customer from New York, NY
The mp3 player plays and stores a great deal of music. however, i had a hard time installing the driver on one of my computers and also accessing the nomad explorer. the size of the player is a big too big for me but it's reasonable enough. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 So far, so good Monday, August 22, 2005 Marie from Jax FL
While I just received my Zen a short while ago I cannot comment on its longevity. However, there are a few points worth mentioning. The sound quality on this player is amazing. I have had several other players and this is by far the best and most clear. I also really like the equalizer and sound setting options. While many people mention the ear bud quality, I found them to be quite good...until I compared against a pair of sony. But I still think the zen's are decent. The software is not complicated and there are many options of other types if you do a search online. The only complaint I have so far is that it only reads ID3 v2 tags, not the file names alone. So, I advise to get an editor if you want to create organization on your player, otherwise it becomes a complicated jumble of files. I found freeware - ID3Edit which is a really quick and easy way of editing batch files (like an entire album) at once. Overall I am satisfied with my purchase and hope that my Zen lives a long and happy life. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Surprise! Saturday, August 06, 2005 A Customer from Meriden, CT
Now, I dont know about anyone else, but when I recieved this player, I was a bit surprised by the size of it. In the picture it looks rather petite. But it's actually fairly large.
The only other complaint I have about it is that the scroll button is rather cheap, and isnt very accurate or sensitive.
other than that, it does everything that an mp3 player should do. 3.5/5 overall Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent value Sunday, July 31, 2005 A Customer from Burke, Virginia
This was cheaper than the iPod and it shipped in record time. I bought this for my 14 year old stepson and he is very happy with it. He was going to buy one from BestBuy but this was less expensive with 25G more space. We recommend it. He did say the only thing he didn't like is that only one song plays at a time, but I think there's a setting that he hasn't figured out yet. Was this review helpful?

This MP3 Player is outstanding. Beyond the fact it is a MUCH better value than iPod, the Creative product performs just as outstanding if not better! Though it is slightly bigger and the earphones are on the big side, I feel these are easy to over look when the value and ease of use are considered! Was this review helpful?

This mp3 player was the greatest thing that happened to me. Like many people, I really wanted an iPod but couldn't afford its ridiculous price. This mp3 player is the best deal. Much better than any other player on the market and much cheaper. The program is so easy to use, I can carry my entire music collection with me. It has a replaceable battery (iPod does not) and I never had a problem with it. It has worked perfectly for 6 months now. The size of it can be a little annoying at times but nothing too serious. 5 of 5 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Better than Ipod Wednesday, May 25, 2005 A Customer from Manitoba
I've had my nomad for over a year now, and have had a minimal amount of problems. I had to send it back to repair once because of my clumsyness, but creative's customer support was great and very helpful. I also own a Ipod 20gb and comparing the two, the ipod looks great, sounds great, is smaller, but is a real pain to use. The nomad has many more options, and was about 30% cheaper, if I could find anybody who'd like to trade my ipod for their nomad I'd do it in a heartbeat.
Overall If you buy something because of how cool it looks you'll be happier with the Ipod. But if you want a product that delivers and for a better price, the Nomad's what you want. Was this review helpful?

Great value. Having to load their software in order to transfer files is a pain in the neck, but once you set your system up it works fine. But if you want to download music from another computer you have to install software first. I dropped mine from a height of about 4 feet and have just had to send it in for warranty (only 90 days!!). The case provides no protection whatsoever. Otherwise it is an inexpensive, decent product. Was this review helpful?

I orignally was looking into purchasing an Ipod. A friend told me to take a look at the other MP3 players out there. Glad I did. I got more for my dollar purchasing Creative Labs NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra-30GB. Easy to use, excellent design, tons of space to store my music, all for less than I would of spent for an Ipod 4GB player. The only downside are the terrible earbuds that come with it. Had to purchase other. Couldn't be happier. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good for the price Saturday, January 01, 2005 A Customer from Plainview, NY
I received my Zen on Friday, and I am very satisfied with the unit. I just have three issues: 1) the first time I loaded music on to the unit, I had to remove the battery before any of the functionality worked. 2) There is no stop button on the unit, but I can deal with that. 3) The headset that was include was received damaged. All that said, it beats spending $100 more for an i-pod with comporable memory. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Awesome mp3 player! Wednesday, December 29, 2004 A Customer from Ridgewood, NJ
my whole family has these nomads and they got me one for christmas.. i havent put it down yet! it makes motorcycle trips much shorter and i drag all my music(which hardly touches the 30gb capacity) everywhere i go. the software is almost stupidly simple to use. and, on top of the 800 something songs in there i backed up just about my entire computer and i still have plenty of space to go. its awesome. the creative zen extra features easy to use menu functions (i never read the manual at all) with amazing sound quality & tons of disk space. Of course if you are not very much bothered by size, this thing is for you. I was looking for ipod or something else, but Apple is soo confident on its ipod, it never featured a discount on it. This thing has been for 100$ less than ipod & 10 GB more than ipod & one smile more than ipod. This thing when hooked up to external speaker system, delivers astonishing sound quality. You can clearly listen to the acoustics which you never had heard via the sound card speakers.
The cons for this being: It has no stop button (of course no much worry to me).... it has deep buried menu options for locating a song. also its not plug & play like other USB drives.. u need the driver CD whenever u connect it to a new system. also the mp3s are not stored in directories at all. Overall, the Zen is outstanding for the price. The software is a littly clunky and at times, difficult to use. After a short frustrating learning curve, it gets better. Battery life is great so far with 10 hours of use not a problem. The size and heft of the Zen is larger than I originally thought. Not bad, but definitely not in the iPod class. If the iPod is a Ferrari, than this is definitely the Hummer. The USB 2.0 connection works very well and the controls are like my BlackBerry so I am very familiar with that feel. The sound playback is second to none and is very impressive. In summary, I would buy it all over again, it has become a trusted companion. Was this review helpful?

This MP3 player is great for people who want a load of hard drive space, great sound and a very good price. Being made by Creative, the sound is terrific. When compared against other MP3 players with similar hard drive space, this is the best value. There are 2 minor issues I have with this unit. For one, it's a bit on the large size. It's about the size of a large deck of cards. The iPods are definitely smaller. The other problem I have is that the controls take a while to learn and could be a little more user friendly. Even so, these are fairly minor issues. If you are looking for an MP3 player to hold thousands of songs and sound great, and are not terribly concerned with the size or controls, this is your unit !! I love my nomad. The software is easy to use. Transferring music onto it is a breeze. The battery stays charged for at least 14 hours. The sound quality is fantastic...I can plug it into my car, my headphones, my home stereo, even my BOSE. It is with me constantly providing me with a steady uninterrupted source of music. I take it to the gym and can jog with it without any skipping (even though they don't recommend doing that)The tech support is also very good.
I would highly highly recommend this model. Was this review helpful?
