4 of 5 Not bad for the price Wednesday, January 09, 2008 ivytwines from Columbus, OH
I bought this with a rebate on top of the low buy.com price, so the price was very low. It doesn't completely silence the drone of the airplane engines, but it does significantly reduce it, enough so that I can listen to my mp3 player without putting the volume on high (which I used to do). I have a small head, and often have problems finding headsets that fit me, but with this design, the fit is pretty good. However, as is the case with most headsets, after about 4 hours my ears start to hurt, and you can't lean your head on anything because of the bulkiness of the headset. Still, for what I paid, I'm pretty happy with the product. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Not bad for the price Friday, December 21, 2007 A Customer from Gainesville, FL
On the airplane they definitely cut down significantly on the drone of the engines. As expected, I could still hear people talking and other noises. The battery wore down pretty fast which was kind of disappointing. For the price and performance they are worth the money, but if you want to really block out the world around you I would probably get ear bud/plug style that physically block out noise. 3 of 5 Noise cancelling & sound quality is good but badly Tuesday, December 18, 2007 Felix from Sunnyvale CA
I have been using these head phone for the past 13 days. Noise cancelling and Audible frequency response is Ok as advertised.. But it is annoying when you get calls in your cell phone or when the cell phone sync the signal with tower the built in sensitive amp in this headset set picks up RF and make some noise for about 3 seconds. I wonder how it passes quality test in Creative Lab! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 These headphones sound great! Wednesday, December 12, 2007 kramer1 from Littleton, CO
Great sound, even without the rebate a good bang for the buck. Are very comfortable to wear, fold up into a compact set. I was really amazed at how much better they sound when kicking in the noise canceler, have nothing but praise for this item. Have listened to bose and there isn't a huge difference with these phones performance wise. Price wise, there is a HUGE difference. Try 'em, you'll like em! (It would have been nice if they could go up to 20khz, but I compensate by using the graphic EQ on my player to max out the highs) Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 OK headphones, but not really noise cancelling Friday, November 30, 2007 A Customer from Boston, MA
I have tried Bose expensive headset on the plane and it does the noise cancelling much better than these. These headphones do very little noise cancelling, there is almost no difference between them being turned on and off.
So they are OK headphones for the price, but I would not buy them if I really wanted noise cancellation. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Love 'em - but highs could be stronger Friday, November 30, 2007 Tedd from Richmond, Virginia
These are super comfortable and effective noise-canceling headphones. They fold up nicely and appreciate the little silky bag they come with. Work as advertised and recommend them highly. As others have noted, the higher frequencies are not as pronounced as they should be, but I'm not complaining given the very low cost, light weight, and comfort. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 EXCELLENT CHOICE Wednesday, November 28, 2007 paulwilson@metaldyne.com from Plymouth, MI
I have really enjoyed these earphones! It is exactly what I hoped it would be!
In addition to using them for MP3 playback, I have used them for electronic piano as well.
I have also used the noise cancellation by itself to help going to sleep.
Excellent Choice, Great Product. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Noise-Cancelling & Sound Ok, but uncomfortable to Monday, October 22, 2007 ed_duran@hotmail.com from Lowell, MA
I sit all day next to computer equipment full of muffin fans. I hoped that this headset would help to eliminate that annoying sound. There was some noise reduction, so that did work. The music produced by the headphones was pretty good too (maybe a little too much bass but could compensate for that). But I could not wear these for hours on end as the pressure on my ears was very bothersome, to the point of hurting. I've requested an RMA and am returning them to buy.com and will look for a different style which can be worn for extended periods. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Not perfect but a great value Friday, October 12, 2007 Kenfromnorcal from Redwood City, CA
No these are not $300 Bose headsets. Then again I wouldn't pay another $260 to buy Bose instead of these. They are a close second. I think people expect them to be a noise "muffler" and exclude all sounds such as talking. Not even Bose does that. These use destructive noise cancellation technology to which is most effective at nulling out continuous and repetitive background noise....like inside a airliner. If you want noise muffling then use earplugs and then put these on. You'll barely hear anything then. As far as listening to music they are very good...again not perfect but for the price they are a great value. if you want an even better headset, try Creative's HN-700's. These really give Bose a run for the money. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Surprisingly nice set of headphones for the price. Thursday, June 14, 2007 Raj P from Seattle, WA
I had a set of Noise canceling headphones that broke, and I came across this set. I was weary at first given the low price, but decided to get them anyway.
I was really surprised when I received the headphones, the form factor is great, the AAA battery fits right on to the headset, and not as an attachment to the Cable as in a lot of other headsets. The carrying pouch was nice as well.
The sound quality is actually very good for the price, although I'd say that the bass can be a bit high at times, though that can be easily fixed with an auto equalizer that can be found in most mp3 players.
Overall, I'm VERY happy with the purchase and would definitely recommend it to others. Was this review helpful?
1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 3 of 5 Still too much noise Wednesday, June 13, 2007 Jaueruk@aol.com from LaudrdaleByTheSea FL
These are knock-offs for a more famous and effective other maker ear muffs. Ten percent of the cost, ten percent of the effectiveness. Easy to use, nice sack, battery, and comfortable but I could still hear the kid two seats over on my flight talking.
The more annoying thing is the Come-on Rebate You need to wait for the item to arrive, download and fill in a form, a receipt, enclose a UPC code and mail it all before a certain date and wait 6 weeks. If I see the check I'll laugh.

5 of 5 Good headphone Tuesday, June 12, 2007 A Customer from Arlington, MA
I bought this headphone before a trip and would like to use it on the plane. The noise cancelling really worked, and I really liked it. For $19.99, it is a steal. The only problem I had was that the battery that came with it was dead, which made me think at first that the headphone might be defective. Was this review helpful?

The sound produced by these headphones is terrible. I get better quality sound from $10 headphones. Also, the noise canceling is non-existent. This is a very poor product and is not up to the standards of Buy.com. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Decent headphones for the price Monday, June 04, 2007 Kayne from Las Vegas, NV
I have a few noise canceling headphones (Bose quietcomfort2, Awai HP-CN5) and these sound pretty good but there is a little bit of noise in the background. Also there is a slight muffle to everything. Makes music more full but can be annoying when watching a movie or show. Still I like these headphones because they are very comfortable with the inner elastic strap. My last pair were the same style (on the ear/over the ear) but would start to hurt the top part of your ear lobe. For the price and comfort of these headphones I gave it an overall 5 and 1 point off for performance as these have that muffled effect all the time and slight noise when using the canceling. 5 of 5 Great noise reduction at a low price Saturday, June 02, 2007 Heath from Wichita, K
I purchased two of the HN-505 headphones from buy.com. Since I do not see the 505's here, I am adding my review to the 605's. I hope they are of the same high quality as the 505's. I am very pleased with the 505's.
After rebate the 505's were $15 each. For that price I did not expect much. When I first got the headphones I tried the noise reduction feature by standing next to my noisy dishwasher. To my amazement the headphones eliminated most of the dishwasher noise. On my recent road trip they eliminated most of the wind and road noise. My six year old daughter commented that she liked wearing them because they "made her ears comfortable." She said this while she was not listening to anything, just enjoying the noise reduction. I did the same and enjoyed the quiet. They were very comfortable to wear and easily adjusted to fit my big head as well as my kid's little heads. We also enjoyed wearing them as we listened to music, a book on tape, and DVD's. They worked very well with all three types of media, eliminating the road noise while delivering clear audio.
I also bought a pair of $30 Audiovox noise reduction headphones (model ACC114) for the trip. The Creative Lab headphones beat the Audiovox headphones in all areas. The noise reduction was much more effective. The Audiovox headphones reduced the road noise, but seemed to introduce a bit of their own noise in the process, so the overall effect was less reduction and more remaining white noise. The 505's were much more comfortable to wear and they folded down compactly while the ACC114's did not.
Based on the assumption that the 605's have the same noise reduction technology, and the fact that they look similar to the 505's I intend to buy two pairs of the 605's so the whole family can enjoy them on the next trip.
Also, I received my rebate checks from Creative after about 5 weeks with no hassle. Get a pair and try them for yourself! Was this review helpful?
1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 4 of 5 Good price, noise reduction good not great Wednesday, May 30, 2007 A Customer from Milwaukee, WI
The price value is good for these headphones. They are larger than I had expected so they are not good for exercizing/jogging etc. However in a car or airplane they were very good. Was this review helpful?
