After downloading a trial version and comparing it to other programs with similar capabilities, this one wins for it's ease of use and value. With it's fairly intuitive interface, I was capturing VHS video from a VCR I have connected to a Hauppauge WinTV capture device within minutes of install. A good program for the price. I'm currently Pinnacle Studio 11.1 Plus user. I have the Ulead version 9 before I switched to Pinnacle Studio Plus 10.5 and now upgraded to 11.1. I have read all reviews for this Ulead VideoStudio 11 (from Amazon.com) before I bought this from Buy.com (Buy.com is excellent internet retailer). The reason I bought this Ulead is that I'm tired of the slow performance of Pinnacle Studio Plus 11.1 and Ulead claimed that this product could process AVCHD video type (from my Sony HDR-SR1). No it does NOT. The setting for capturing video still set at 720X480 (can't change). This does NOT even recognize the AVCHD files that were captured by Sony software (Pinnacle Studio 11.1 does). It defaulted to TV in Capture mode all the time. When I switched to camera source, it crashed. There are many incontinence things; for example, you can't load all your photos a folder at once. This software is far behind Pinnacles Studio Plus 11.1 at the same price. This Ulead 11 can't be compared with Pinnacle Studio Plus 11.1. Was this review helpful?

The program is great for someone like me, who doesn't know all about movie editing, settings, etc. There is information to help you choose those things.
If you're weary of micromanaging projects and just want a nice slideshow, you can choose "Movie Wizard", throw in some pictures, choose an intro style, choose music and whether to have the pictures transition with the music, last as long as the music or a set time. After previewing, you can go ahead and send it to disc, email, etc. or you can pull it into Videostudio Editor to tweak it.
If you want to create a video (trimming your existing video, maybe adding pictures), you can make it exactly the way you want with videostudio using up to 4 overlays; (you can have another picture or video play over the primary and set the transparency, size, position, etc), music, effects, transition effects, titles, etc.
I had a problem saving my first project to dvd at first. It was very frustrating, and finally my solution was to recapture the video, re-cut & redo. Something about the first one was corrupt&. Unfortunately, that sort of thing comes with the computer territory. The people on the forum are very helpful and respond immediately.
Once I got over that hurdle, it was smooth sailing. I'm thrilled I bought this program. I considered some simpler programs, but am glad I chose this one because with the Movie Wizard, I have both, and if I ever get more knowledgeable about the process, this program will not be "beneath me.
