The CAND Series is Cavalry’s new Network Attached Storage system. The CAND is a cost-effective external network disk array designed for the home or small office user. Connect it directly to your network and share your data with everyone on the network without a server computer, even while reading or writing data. Use it as an FTP server, media storage server or back up critical data. Network setup is simple, and you can leave the CAND on indefinitely after installation, meaning your files are always accessible. And setting up a print server without a dedicated computer is easy--just connect your printer to the built-in USB 2.0 port of the CAND!

The dual-bay array is encased in solid aluminum, boasting exceptional heat dissipation, remarkable durability, state-of-the art shock absorption and superior all-around performance. The large 2.5” cooling fan keeps the temperature safe and cool.

5 of 5 This Thing Rocks! Saturday, June 27, 2009
A Customer from Los Angeles, CA

Ok, this thing rocks! Who needs an extra server computer for file sharing taking up a ton of space when you have this thing. In my old office we had a tower with complicated software that would always crash on us. This thing was a breeze to set up. I simply plugged it into my router followed the instructions and was up an running in about 10 minutes. I then downloaded fireftp for my firefox browser and was able to access my files from my laptop from wherever there was an internet connection. Amazingly this device also works as a print server! I plugged in my printer followed the instructions and could now print my files from anywhere in the house! I love this thing! P.S. The hard drive is a Hitachi, which I place up there with Western Digital.

This 2 tb disk drive is very easy to use and to get set up. I would recommend it to anyone interested in getting a NAS device. The product you get for your money is well worth it. A++

4 of 5 Great product, poor manual Friday, April 10, 2009
A Customer from Oklahoma
I installed the 2TB NAS drive with no problem, but it took a while to get it fine tuned like I wanted. The WEB UI was not documented well for the novice. However, I would buy again, although I wished translated documented were scrubbed for better English interpretation and from a novice approach. I did like their customer service website.

5 of 5 Awesome Device Tuesday, March 03, 2009
A Customer from West Bountiful, UT
I would recommend this NAS to anyone. You really can't beat it for the price. I was able to completely replace my home server. Setup was very easy. I also have this running as my print server. Works great!

5 of 5 Cavalry CAND3002T0 Network Hard Drive Wednesday, January 28, 2009
A Customer from Tampa Fl
The drive was pretty easy to install and works nicely. When accessing the unit via wireless connection, it's a little slow showing my pictures. I have to reconnect the unit at times when I boot up one PC. No big deal. It takes a couple of keystrokes to do so. But other than that, the unit is a deal.

4 of 5 Good unit Monday, December 29, 2008
Gary from St. Louis, MO
Had it running for about a week now. Seems to work pretty well, lost some pics when I copied over 3 or 4GB at a time, just had to move in smaller chuncks. I can now access all my documnets from all 4 of my computers without having to guess which computer I saved something on, a nice single point to save everything. Setup was pretty simple also.

This drive is awesome...no issues with setting up on the network and granting access. Speed to transfer is fast. Also have connected a printer for network sharing with no issues. Would recommend!

5 of 5 A NAS to serve up your Media Monday, December 01, 2008
Eric Miller from Suwanee, GA
Overall, this is is an excellent NAS. It's set up by default as Raid-1, so if you're intention is to get a Terabyte backup drive, this one does that AND makes sure the precious files, photos, videos and music is backed up with redundancy. Loading about 400 Gigs of data over my G-wireless network was pretty slow, but on the flip-side, this device is able to stream MP3's over my wireless network to both my Roku M1001 (attached to my stereo) and to any PC on my network. In fact, this NAS even has an iTunes (Bonjour) server built in, so it shows up as a shared library in anyone's iTunes on my network. All in all this has been a great purchase for me and I've definitely recommended it to all of my friends.

5 of 5 Nice addition... Wednesday, June 25, 2008
Leake from San Francisco, CA
Took a little effort but got this box up and running within a few days - not exactly "plug & play" - in combination with a new gigabit network. Works well with WindowsXP and Mac - even serves up music and photos to the Tivos (through a desktop). Print server feature is nice but doesn't work with multi-function machines (uses an old Epson dot-matrix print driver). Its not exactly retail but it not completely OEM in terms of packaging. And the drives are good quality Western Digital. Overall, its a good appliance at a great price.

5 of 5 Sweet little unit... Saturday, June 14, 2008
leake from San Francisco, CA
It was a breeze from start to finish - quality product, even if some of the "packaging" issues in other reviews are yet to be resolved. Its got WD Caviar inside and runs a Samba server - not exactly silent but definitely ok for a home office. I would not put it in a TV room or next to a home theater system. Its smaller than you think, easier than you think, and a lot less expensive than any of its competition. Get this drive now! You will not be sorry.
