4 of 5 works very well Monday, April 27, 2009 A Customer from new york and NY
It is better than the plastic one I have bought previous. Very handy to have the USB ports and card reader. The only thing is that the USB ports are one drive and the card reader is one drive. I couldn't put 2 cards in the reader to read both of them. But still this is a good strong product. The Rebate seems like it is processing, hopefully I get my rebate. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good Product -- Good Price Tuesday, April 07, 2009 A Customer from Austin, TX
I like this cooler because it's a long narrow wedge that's intended to tilt the back of the laptop up while the front of the laptop rests on the table. This allows more air to flow underneath the PC. The fans disburse the hot air effectively keeping the laptop nice and cool. An added benefit is that it angles the keyboard a bit which makes the keyboard feel more like a desktop keyboard.
I also like this cooler because it's cheaper than the other coolers that I was considering. I also couldn't find a laptop cooler that was the same dimensions as my 17" laptop and I think this option looks better than setting a 17" laptop on a 13" cooler.
I don't usually use my computer on my lap but if I did I'd probably affix the cooler to the bottom of the laptop using velcro like one of the other users recommended. Otherwise it would be awkward to use on your lap. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good Value for the Price Friday, April 03, 2009 Richard from Centerburg, OH
Overall I really like this product. Using velcro I have it attachable to my laptop but easily removed in order to dock the laptop. The fans are somewhat noisy but it does keep the laptop cool. The ports work for the devices so it is very handy for my flash drives. The device is sturdy aluminum and not cheap plastic.
I am still waiting for the rebate but, once it comes through, I will consider this a 'best buy'. I own a few other coolers but this is the most convenient and most portable and it cost less than the others. Was this review helpful?

I have been using the fan with my Gateway tablet for about 3 weeks now. First impressions are good! It is built strong, moves a lot of air, and the card reader installs and works well (on Windows XP). The USB port positions work out well (as two of the three ports on my Gateway are used up with this device) because they are situated on the opposite side from my tablet's USB ports. Handy! The trick to getting the USB ports and card reader to work each time you plug it in, is to be sure to plug the unit into the same USB port on your laptop each time. That makes sure Windows can find the same ports and cards each time (in the same connection location). The fan power plug, of course, doesn't matter which USB port it is plugged into each time. It is just for power to the fans.
The fans pull heated air away from the tablet and out the vents which dump under the center of my tablet's base. This then also grabs heat from the bottom of the tablet and out to the sides. The smaller size of this fan setup fits well with the Gateway's battery shape (which hangs down a bit like a long foot at the back of the machine). Its smaller size also makes it easier to pack-and-go! Hopefully the fan's bearings last longer than my last "Targus" fan pad! We'll see. The only down side I noticed right away is that the fans are pretty loud compared to many other laptop coolers I have experienced.
Also, I will be keeping an eye on the rebate process. I understand from others it is very slow from "Cables Unlimited". Generally, I do not like rebates at all. I buy with the idea that I will not be using the rebate process. This fan, card reader and USB port set-up is listed at a fairly decent price even before the rebate. BTW: fast shipping! First of, although it is my fault (I'll come to that), the price is kind of steep for this product. I have a lady with Alzheimers who lives with me and she throws away stuff and inadvertently included the packaging of this product with its upc so I could not claim my rebate of $10. Should the rebate be good the price would not have been too bad. As to design, its narrow piece is not comfortable for the lap as the laptop sits three quarters of the way on my lap. Either its design should taper on one side or be wider to accommodate the computer. Performance: loud whirring sound of the fans obscure conversations, music and TVs. I haven't bothered to try out the usb ports and card slots as the narrowness of its design is too awkward to rest my laptop on and is too noisy to have it around company so I won't use it any more. This has to be one of my worst buys ever. not only does this product lie in the advertisement in nearly broke my laptops USB ports.
1. it is not REALLY a 3 USB Hub since it uses 2 of your USB ports to work. so it really only adds 1 USB hub. other fans i have had in the past used the USB port, but did not block it, and allowed other devices to be attached at the same time. This one does not. So again, it is NOT a 3 USB Hub! it only really gives you one more.
2. Once attached it caused all my USB ports/hubs to malfunction and they stopped recognizing all devices. I ran through 10 hours of troubles shooting and consulting with Tech people until i was able to get it fixed.
SO save your self the trouble. DO NOT BUY THIS! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good price, good product, works straight out of th Tuesday, March 10, 2009 Corina from Akron, Ohio
The fans on this product are much quieter than my laptop, and they appear to help cool it off. One thing you should keep in mind is that you don't actually net 3 additional USB ports, as the unit itself uses up two of yours! However, you do net a multi-card reader, and that is why I bought this unit (in addition to its cooling powers). I bought this as a gift for my husband, whose laptop does not have an integrated card reader, and he was having problems with his laptop shutting off, presumably due to overheating. Both problems solved with one device! Was this review helpful?

Laptop cooler seems to work good, has two fans, but does not fit my laptop well as it is too narrow and doesn't cover the whole bottom of the computer. USB ports also sometimes fail and the computer has to re-locate them. Would not purchase another one. Was this review helpful?

The cooler came very quickly and it works great although the fans are a bit noisy. Don't count on gaining three USB ports. Since the power takes one and a second one is needed to feed the three on the cooler, you only gain one additional port. Was this review helpful?

I have always used a cooler under my laptop, and this one is the best yet! It keeps my laptop cool and adds the extra features of a card reader and 3 USB 2.0 ports, giving my laptop the extra communication and storage that I love. I keep two 8 Gig SD cards permanently connected and have 7 USB connections, all for the around the same cost as my old cooler, which still fits under my laptop. Even with the two coolers, the noise level is minimal, because the Super Laptop Cooler is quiet.
The Super Laptop Cooler is narrow, and blows cool air under the laptop, which allow me to place it on my old cooler, which is the same size as my laptop, giving me the added bonus of cool air blown into the fans that blow up into my laptop making my laptop extra cool! Bottom line, this is a "cool" product and I recommend it highly! With the extra features, I don't have to use any power from my laptop to run the USB ports, because the cooler's power runs the ports.
