5 of 5 Fantastic Router Friday, February 23, 2007 R Wagner from Sacramento CA
Like everyone else, I've used Linksys, Netgear, ZyXEL, 2Wire, and etc. By far, this router outperforms them all with customizable options, and ease of set-up. The range of service from this router is also amazing. This router has been able to send a signal through a fire-rated wall and concrete where Linksys, Netgear, ZyXEL, and the rest could not get past. Buffalo "has exorcised the demons" from my DSL and wireless connections.customer Was this review helpful?

I had a Linksys WRT54G router distributing wired and wireless broadband internet in my home. I was having major issues with lost connectivity to the IP. I thought it was the service. One day the wireless network stopped all together. I realized that the router needed replacing. I bought the buffalo because I considered its bridging ability a possible future use, once on line I was shocked. The Buffalo preformed so much better than the Linksys, even when it was new. I now get great speed throughout the network. Internet service is working great. I now owe my internet service provider an apology, I thought a router either worked or it didn't, I was wrong. I had questions before I purchased and Buffalo's customer service was great. Setup was easy. Range is easy 3 times that of the linksys. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 One of the best Tuesday, January 23, 2007 Mike from Clarkston, MI
This Buffalo AirStation is one of the best wireless routers we've used. We're an IT services company and used to use all Zyxel but we had so many problems with them we switched to the Buffalo and now that's all we use. Was this review helpful?

I have never written a review of any product before, but this product has worked so well, I am writing one now. Out of the box, this product is great, easy install, powerful features, amazing range, great form factor. What makes this product even better is the ability to load alternative firmware to greatly improve the customizability of this product. I am a long time linux user and system administrator, so having a customizable linux kernel running under dd-wrt on this unit is fantastic. At this price, I don't think there is a better option for a small office/home office environment out there right now. Was this review helpful?

I have been working with similar products for a while now. I've used Linksys, Netgear, D-Link, and now Buffalo. By far, this product is the best. I tried one in a location where getting more than 2/3 bars consistently was an issue. Even Linksys and its high gain antenna, did nothing (and I mean nothing). Hooked this up, and Viola!! 5 bars most of the time with an occasional dip into 4.
Since then, I've bought 4 more. I used 2 in one large residence using the WDS feature which allows one router to act as a repeater/AP. I can't tell you what a difference it made. The were initially paying for 2 cable Internet accounts and now can cancel one; they have full signal everywhere.
I was going to use the next 2 at another large house in a similar fashion. 1 of them has to be RMA'd as it's defective (it happens). They (customer service) were very easy to deal with. They saw that I was technical, and that I had already done everything a person can do in the field, and that was good enough for them. It took me 5 minutes to RMA the product once I spoke to a human.
In short, I only use/recommend this router from this point forward. Was this review helpful?

I've purchased and installed these units for my clients. The dedicated link (WDS) works great for feeding nearby buildings.
However, this AP and the Buffalo WLI-CB-G54S Wireless PC Card appear to have compatability issues with some HP Pavilion notebooks. The driver installs fine. The notebook see's the insertion or removal of the Wireless PC Card but, regardless of driver used, I'm seeing no data traffic or flash of the Link LED.
Both Buffalo Technologies and HP technical support engineers have been made aware of this issue.
A second HP Pavilion notebook belonging to a client is also unstable. This device is using the built-in Broadcom radio looking at the same model Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 Wireless Router. In both instances the radios see the AP but cannot connect. Both HP notebooks are running the AMD processor. Was this review helpful?

I use two of these routers, one as a router and one as wireless access point (it automatically configures itself depending on what it senses) to stream high qualtiy video over my network. One five minute call to tech support on my special setup and I was connected. The speed for general internet use as fast as when I am connected by wire. Was this review helpful?

I own the DLink DI-624 wireless router as well, and this unit outperforms it by a mile. Much stronger signal for my wireless devices and overall rock steady performance. Buffalo Tech products are so much better than DLink and Netgear (which I've also used) there are too many reasons to note. Was this review helpful?
